How to Charge Wheelchair Batteries to Get The Most Value From Them
Batteries are expensive...
If you don't look after them, it's a costly repair. This video goes through how to best charge your wheelchair batteries to get the most range and lifespan out of them.
𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐬 𝐓𝐢𝐩:💡 When you put your chair on charge - make sure it is getting power. If the chair is plugged in but there is no electrical power going through, it will actually draw power out of the battery. So by the time you go to use your chair, it will be dead flat. So, to make sure it is charging:
✔️ Make sure it is plugged all the way in
✔️ Make sure the power from the wall is on
✔️ Make sure the cable is plugged into the charger box
Good indication of this is by checking the battery box and seeing if the LED lights are on. This is one of the most common errors someone can make that can have a devastating impact on the wheelchair.

    I love how you did a wheelchair doll as a review for a 'how to measure a wheelchair' review. By the way, it's just my opinion your very short videos are your downfall for fewer subscribers. Tik Tok is the forum for very short videos...not You Tube. Just my thoughts though...again, great video. Oh, it's true what you said about arm rests...but I'm in a Rogue 2 and they combine arm rests with side guards (they seriously cheaped out). By the way, larger wheels are the way to go. You go further with each push and it's way easier on the elbows and shoulders. Power assist wheels are even better (the 25" ones) and I hope they're a norm on future chairs. I'm also glad quad knobs seem to be making a comeback because people need to get more exercise.

    I have to go with my prions experience because my OT has no idea how to measure correctly. She first suggested 16 by 16, as the vender measure my old cushion roughly when I sit in my old donated chair. Later on she suggested 14.5 by 14.5 as my old hair without the cushion. I kept telling her I sit deep in the chair so my butt is actually partly behind the seat. I can see the 16 inch width is too wide and cannot support my twist pelvis and spine.. Eventually I remember there was a chair I hadfit me pretty good and it was 15 by15, and insisted on that size. Turned out I am right.

    • @JustinBoulos
      @JustinBoulos 2 місяці тому

      It sounds like you really advocated for yourself and your comfort, which is so important when it comes to mobility equipment! It's unfortunate that your OT didn't quite get the measurements right initially, but it's great that you were able to remember what worked well for you in the past and insist on that size. Your experience and feedback are invaluable in finding the right fit for your needs in the future!

    • @JustinBoulos
      @JustinBoulos 2 місяці тому

      To be honest, a tape measure is fine. If you have callipers - great. If not, it doesn't really matter because we're basing our measurements off the trial equipment. If someone is sitting on a 16"W x 16"D cushion and I can see it is an inch too long or too short, I just base my measurement off that. I wouldn't even pull out the tape measure

    Hi does the smart drive work only on rigid wheelchair or any wheelchair??

    • @wheelieworx
      @wheelieworx 9 місяців тому

      Hey, great question. It works best on a rigid chair because the camber bar underneath the chair gets a receiver mounted onto it and then the Smartdrive just pops on. If you Google Smartdrive Folding Adaptor, you can see how that option works too. It works, but it is a little cumbersome. Rigid chairs are also more durable so they will work better with any power assist device. I hope that helps!
