i enjoyed watching your video. i have stayed at the Gran hotel twice with my mexican wife. i want to be there for Day of the Dead. How long in advance did you make your hotel reservation? Was there alot of noise in your hotel at night from the celebration? Did you have the festivities and parade date before you made your reservation?
Thank you for watching our video. Reservation: we reserved around two months in advance and you saw the room we had. There are balcony rooms facing the Zocolo (main square). They would have been cool, but probably noisy. Dates: yes. We made the reservation after we knew the dates of the Day of the Dead celebrations.

Thank you for watching our video! During Covid, Italy was not playing around. I didn’t video their police, but they were actively enforcing ask wearing. It seemed like a small request in order to enjoy that beautiful area.

Very nice and informative video. I have a question or two. Did you take the ferry from La Spezia? If you did, do you have to transfer at Porto Venere? I asked because our cruise ship gets into La Spezia and we are about a 10 minute walk to the La Spezia ferry terminal. It would be nice if we do not have to transfer through a different ferry from Porto Venere
Thank you for watching our video! We chartered a private yacht (cinqueterreboat.com which we encourage) but the ferry will work also. Porto Venere is a flat version of the Cinque Terre and a great location to walk and get the ocean vibe of Italy. La Spezia has an Italian feel to it, but it is a big(er) city. You can spend the whole day in La Spezia but if you can take a ferry to Porto Venere then do it. It is a very different atmosphere.

They had heaters at different locations. And with that many people… we had to go outside to cool down sometimes. It was fun!

How easy is it to travel to local places from this hotel though? It looks far from Osu
Thank you for watching our video! It is at least a 30 minute cab ride (you would not walk). Transportation is easy because the hotel can arrange transportation for you. Getting back?… be prepared to walk away from cab drivers who charge you more than it cost to get to your destination.

The Marriott is convenient because it is close to the airport… other than that… not too much. The Kempinski is opulent. Expensive… but you get what you pay for. If you want something different, go for a beach hotel. Any hotel you go for will have pluses and minuses. The more you spend on a hotel room, the less you spend on adventures and experiences. You won’t lose going to Ghana, it’s just a question of what you want in the end: relaxing hotel or experiences. Either way you win!

I’ve booked 4 nights in kempinski and that was my budget so cashed in miles and night certificates for 2 nights at the Marriott towards the end of my trip. Im staying at the kempinski because of the location! Thanks for the insights!! Very helpful

We took EVERYTHING! It was our first trip to Africa and we didn’t want to take any chances. I don’t know if we needed it… but we wanted to have the best time possible with the fewest inconveniences.

The yellow sculpture, "El Caballito", is a modern interpretation of a much older statue that was located in that same spot, also called "El Caballito" (it was actually the statue of King Carlos IV); the original sculpture is now re-located in front of MUNAL, like 3 blocks from your Hotel. The statue in the rotonda where you ate, is "La Cibeles", and is an exact replica from a same-name fountain/statue in Madrid, Spain. It was donated by spanish immigrants. See ya!
