Even though I struggled with math, I never disliked it. I was intrigued by it. I wanted to be good at it. Back-in-the-day, though (before YT and the internet), there were a complete lack of resources -- and many of us were "taught" math by people who didn't actually understand it. When I was in school, I would ask my teachers about the mathematical logic behind algorithms and alternative approaches. They didn't know how to do things outside of the standard algorithms and told me that the standard algorithms were the way to solve problems.

I was in general math classes all through school, I excelled at addition and subtraction, but whenever challenged with much beyond that, I could not comprehend. We need to understand that some of us are just not smart. Our talents lie in different areas.
