What’s w Wichita and plane crashes ?
Very easy to solve what happened here, a thing called "hot dogging" or "showing off" by the pilots. Had the pilots just done the job of getting the team safely to their destination, the crash would not have happened
I watched this wen i was sick this messed me up
I thought the 1986 was the only crash
I live in Wichita Kansas and if my #1 dream don’t work I will rebuild this football program
Is marshall the only school that laost a team in a plane crash in 1970
I heard the plane was overloaded. They couldnt gain enough altitude over the mountains. Thise charter flights seemed to have a super high crah rate. With blatantly obvious stupid mistakes.
Marshall was the only one that I ever heard about sorry
❤sad😢
I remember seeing this on the TV here in Virginia when I was 10years old and felt bad for the families. At a young age it was hard to understand. This was a very good memorial video to WS players and the others that passed. For those players who have passed since the making of this video, may you have peace at last and the lord be with you. I bet they are playing one heck of a game against Marshall in Heaven. May the Lord be with those who have left us and to the survivors and families that are still with us.
I happen to be camping (boondocking) about ten miles from the crash site as I watch this film…
When was this film made and released? Description implies a release around 2009, yet footage looks more like 1990.
Captain Cracker and First Officer Skipper?
I lost a good friend in that plane crash. Randy Kiesau of Clinton, Oklahoma
Marshall, lost almost it's entire team 😢
My brother Randy Jackson was one of the survivors of that plane crash . I came home from school that day of the crash and saw my mama standing behind the screen door with tears in her eyes. I will never forget that day. Randy was blessed to play his senior year at WSU and in the NFL. My brother, since has gone on to be with his maker.
RIP to your brother
Having to face the Arkansas Razorbacks as your first game back had to have been a mighty challenge in itself.
I was born in October of 71 - well after both the WSU and Marshall plane crashes. Growing up in the upper Midwest, I remember learning about WSU plane crash and that a 2nd college had suffered a similar crash. I didn't really know what facts belonged to which crash then. But I firmly believe that both Marshall and WSU are forever tied in their grief.
I remember that day. Ii was only a freshman in high school. But I was watching TV I’d guess about 4.30 in the afternoon when news came. I was the one in my household who broke the news to the my family. Even as a kid I understood the magnitude of this event as told my family members. It was just a few years later that I was student on the WSU campus. I get excited about KSU and KU’s successes, but I’ll alway pull the hardest for my Shockers till the end of my days.
Every time I drive up I-70 approaching the Eisenhower Tunnel, I always salute or tip my cap when I pass by the Memorial. YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN.
And it's crazy to think that what a month after this Marshall happened
I remember the Marshall plane crash in November 1970. I was a 15 yr old kid staying all night with a friend, in Teavys Valley, WV only 20 miles from the Marshall plane crash.
I find this disaster ironic seeing how it occurred right before the Marshall tragedy
Blame that guy who went on a site seeing tour on gold plane
Incredible story. This should have been made into a movie/documentary like Marshall
As a graduate of marshall and going through what we went through as well, knowing what they went through, we will always have that connection to wichita state. May God grant you peace
As a Kansas State fan, I feel really bad for those that didn't survive and the few survivors, fans, and school. As others have mentioned, it's about time they bring back this football program as a memorial. I would cheer the hell on for them.
RIP to all of those who died. Can't believe so much of the wreckage is still there.
😢😢😢
Same plane as the Leonard Skynard Plane. The Non Turbo Version was a constant array of problems. When the Turbo came out things improved dramatically. Wish for the sake of this team it was the turbo version..
Who got sued and for how much?
Very heartbreaking God bless these survivors for their strength as well as the family members who lost their loved ones may they always be remembered. Very sad to know the program had to end but hopefully it will one day return to honor these young men ❤️ May they all RIP 🙏🏻❤️☀️
Did witchita help marshall a month later
Pilot error. So often the case.
Why is the wreckage still there?
I'm not a Wichita fan but as an Alabama fan, we will remember the lives for those who lost their lives 😢😭🙏🌾🌾
Watching the sad memories like this makes me understand why we have so many laws and regulations now. The whole firm and operations of said plane admitted to wrong doing yet were never held accountable and responsible for it. No, these people didn’t have it like we have it now in modern times. This was a time where your neighbors, friends and family were ALL family coming together in need. I couldn’t imagine being a survivor of all this that took place. Losing someone sitting right next to you in a blink of an eye with no control has to be the most chilling experience and feeling. Now it’s clear why people of that era fight so hard in modern times to hold people accountable. They do this so it doesn’t happen to the next generations of family and friends.
RIP Mary King Boyer.
Man McDonnell Airplanes were the worse aircraft to be flying in they had so many issue's. Just How bad was McDonnell DC Airplane's? I watched the Air Crash Investigation on Behind the Close Door's. Including the Crash that killed the whole Marshall Football team coming back from a Game. Pilot error definitely is to blame for this crash but, other crashes involving McDonnell Air Craft oh know that was Company related problems to those Air plane's. It was a surprise that there were survivors of this particular crash in the 70's considering where they'd crashed.
My first cousin, Mike Bruce, was one of the 9 survivors.
I was 7 when this happened. My dad came home late that day. My mom was mad at first until she seen that he was crying. My brother and I were in bed at the time. We sneaked into the kitchen and sat on the floor listening to what my dad said as he was crying. My dad and others seen the plane crash as they were heading home after their shift. I won’t give any details of what I heard. And I will never forget that night. I am Happy to hear your cousin survived.
Okay let's all go watch a Jim Carey movie now.
Makes me wonder if they were mentally ready for another game three weeks later. I think that’s pushing it a little maybe a little disrespectful but I could be totally wrong though 🤷🏼♀️ sad to see the program has ended though ❤️
Was this the one 43 days before the Marshall crash?
I guess this was overshadowed by the 1970 Marshall plane crash as I've never heard of it until now .... RIP.
I think a movie should be made of this event.
Not sure which was worse.......to survive and feel guilty or to just be done with it all!
I didn't know about this crash.
Proof again that the safest seat in a plane is the very back. That's where the black box is.
A well-done documentary for those that perished, and, maybe, for those that survived as well. Kudos to the Arkansas fans that displayed such class.
My condolences for everyone who tragically lost their lives on the field and in those planes, my god that had to be so unfortunate 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
As a Bama fan, I was 1 year old at the time, never knew about this until recently. RIP and bless all associated with it.
