High rigidity Drill press table with Dust collection
I had been using a drill press table with dust collection, but its structure was complicated and rigidity was low.
So I created a new table that was simple, rigid, and has convenient functions.

    It’s been a year. How has the heating element held up? This project makes me feel better about the hundreds of times I have trudged through a project build after realizing along the way that my time had been given diminishing value and paying for a commercially available thing would have been the smartest choice. That never stopped me from finishing but now I’m more selective about project choices. Life is short after all.

    for 2x600 watt heating wire, how high the temperature of your furnace?

    • @7chome_seisakusyo
      @7chome_seisakusyo 3 місяці тому

      If the insulation is strong enough, it would reach the temperature at which the aluminum would melt in about 3 hours. Insulation is more important than power.

    The design is wonderful. I learned a few new materials. Great use of electricity; I was going to run 240v but I think 2x 120v is smarter. Please consider using proper tools and avoid setting crucibles on concrete; it could explode! I like your design the most from what I've seen and will emulate it with a much larger build!

    Apart from not clocking the screws... Sweet!

    • @7chome_seisakusyo
      @7chome_seisakusyo Рік тому

      It took me a week to figure out what the word "clocking" meant! I also learned that the people who align the screw heads are called "screwcrockers". Actually, this is an agenda I have been very interested in for a long time. Thanks for providing a great agenda! As an Industrial designer, my opinion is "I would like to CLOCKED it if possible". However, as a Mechanical engineer, my opinion is "Should not be CLOCKED". Screws should be tightened to the proper torque, in which case the thread angles cannot be matched. So when I see these neatly "clocked" screws, it looks like they were assembled at the expense of performance. As an example, I don't like the Royal Oak by Audemars Piguet. Well, I don't have the money to buy one... I really enjoy our conversations about this! I'll try to figure out how to clock the screws with the right torque. Someday I hope to join the ranks of screwclockers!
