Joey and Danny live about an hour apart in upstate NY... and with Joey doing his local cover band thing where he lives in Syracuse - would be interesting to see if there's some collaboration with them down the road from each other now that they've finally shared a stage.

Fellow Jerseyite here..WSOU/Studio One/The Birchill/Tradewinds..I remember the late 80's/early 90's rock scene in NJ.. Great interview. Other important bands not mentioned is "Death", "Pure Hell" and "Sound Barrier".

You have to do a video on when you guys get to meet the guys again in person!!!! This was soo good to hear, im from buffalo and this means alot to hear these stories..i remember lake shore record exchange and ron, they briefly had a store in Buffalo too, the penny arcade, house of guitars etc..and tou guys getting on the permanent guest list just made me so proud and jealous at the same time lol incredible

I know we're older, but, hey... never too late to do something that we love. my husband has a Zoom R24 studio that took a dive... I just ordered another one bc I found a used one in Cali. David has so many unfinished tracks that we are writing lyrics for right now. Back to Jeff Fabb... my husband and I met him in Ybor City at a BLS show, after the show. Fabb was the ultimate in coolness. circa, 2014.

With deep respect to Hugo, I disagree with him. Journey should have hired him over Arguri or Arnel or anyone else. Hugo's the closest to Steve Perry ever. Jon and Neil, bad decision. Note: Ross Valory, backstage at the after party following Journey's 800-SUICIDE benefit concert in San Francisco in 1999, told me Neil's last name "rhymes with yawn", FYI.

dUg's commentary about Living Colour is right on point. Vivid made me go, "hmmm," but then Time's Up came out when I was a freshman in college...and man, digging into the lyrics there changed my worldview. It taught me, as a white kid, to stop being defensive and understand other people's experiences. Man, what a tour de force of an album. Just brilliant. I caught them with Extreme on the tour this year...and it was absolutely killer. Both bands.

You should check out Stone Vengeance. They started in the 80s. All black dudes, metal band, they are INCREDIBLE. Like hendrix meets slayer.

If Journey had hired Hugo instead of Steve Augeri, Jeff Scott Soto, and Arnel Pineda they would have not only sounded more authentic but probably would have recorded several amazing albums with Hugo. Unfortunately we will never hear them. Hugo comes across so much more like Steve Perry than any of them by far and sounds so much better than Arnel in every way. Journey lost out by not hiring him. The musicians in Hugo's band are top notch! I'd much rather hear them with Hugo than the current Journey lineup.

Great interview. Hugo is an awesome singer and songwriter and so down to earth. Super dude. I just saw Voyage last weekend and they were great….easily the best Journey tribute band ever. Inception is excellent. It’s a great record with no fillers. So glad to hear Hugo release his own new material again. And, enough songs for another record? Yes, please! 😁

I was at the Spirit Caravan show at the old Hard Rock Cafe on 57th st lol -- I remember him saying "the only thing cool about this place is that sign on the wall (pointing to the hard rock cafe sign)" it was such a weird place for a live hard rock show there was no stage they were just right on the floor. I think they covered The Wizard.
