hey guys love the vids!! great reviews, i feel the same with my pivot thruster! how evera while ago I lost a fin, the left one! and now i cant ride my pivots when its small anymore and im really bummed! is there any chance you guys have an extra left pivot fin lying around somewhere from a previous broken or damaged set of fins or anywhere you can point me in the right direction where to look for one! id really appreciate because i dont wanna buy a full set im too broke :(

I can tell if AM-1 or 2s are in my board. They suck so much. The board tightens ups even in big Hawai’i surf. I use this template to stay away from any fin that looks close. Jordy’s on a 6’2 ghost was magic though 🤙

Using the Robinsons in my squash with a mellow ish rocker (ah vessels) I like a slightly smaller back fin. In my sharp eye file fifty they rule as-is . 👌combo

It would be interesting if you tested the same fins in different materials, even plastic. Just to compare how important the construction material is. Then you could do square or very simple shapes. Asymmetrical vs symmetrical foils, ....

How do you compare the hobie keel with the Dave rastovich rasta keels and also the al merrick keel. Are they all similar keels? They should be used in small waves?

This series has been very interesting! Donald is really fun to listen to, and I have enjoyed his takes on surfing, surfboards, and his curiosity-filled pproach. I'm stoked to try some small fins in my board tomorrow and see how they go. Thanks UsedSurf and Donald for the talks!

Good vid. Question about foot placement. Do you do anything special when getting up so your feet land forward on the board? I’m usually moving my feet after I’m up but it looks like you’re landing forward already.

One good barrel tip I learned from watching the footage - if there's a good wave and someone else is on it, BURN them and get tubed. A question I have for you, Mr. Sullivan: I keep getting burned on all of the good waves at Salt Creek, so when I'm in the barrel a wall of water comes down on my head and I can't make it out. Any tips??

Why leashless?

Would love to hear other more mainstream shapers as well talk about some of the more techncial aspects of shaping. Stuff like where they fade the hard edge out near the front fins, fin placement, rail shape, etc.

ITS ALL ABOUT $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ! Surfboard manufacturers have people called 'sanders' . They get paid by 'piece rates' . If you lined up 5 boards with plugs and 5 boards with 'glass-ons' , they're going to walk straight pas the 'glass-ons' and do the plug boards . Then you have the surf shops . Do you reckon they would be happy if you took out FCS/Futures fin sets for $130 . They take up no shelf space and are high turnover items . There is way more to say about the physics but anyway you look at it , removeable fins are here to stay .

is a 10" pivot fin too big for a 9' classic longboard? I have a 10" andy bolt pivot and feels like it causes too much drag. Considering getting a shorter pivotfin ...9" or 9.5" pivot to be exact.

The Wade Goodall fins seem relatively 'dead' in surfing performance.
