Avocados don't come true from seed, so what you have are NOT Hass seedlings. I wouldn't give that to anyone as they are just going to turn into huge disappointments that will happen up to 14 years later if they ever make a single avocado. Graft them and then they'll be Hass avocados.
@@MasterKenfucius this is true. However, I have several friends with avocado trees and we’ve started grafting these trees. We’ll have Haas, Monroe and Florida avocados soon enough.
Fig :)

Congratulations on growing these watermelon. I tried last year only to have them rot on the bottom or some varment eating a hole somewhere on it. I got one almost to done but the stem broke off as it was a little on the green side. Thanks for the video. Very informative
Having the same problem. Appears to be that banana tree Panama bacteria. The rot is not at the roots but in the stem and the leaves look slashed. I tried pulling the outer main stem leaves off to expose the bacteria to light and sprayed with copper fungicide. I used one other, not organic, product yesterday. We will see. If it works, I will let you know. Supposedly, this tree bacteria has no cure.
Nice property 👍

Just FYI...sweet potato leaves (preferably the tops) are edible. They're rich in vitamin C, potassium, and many minerals.
@@paengs.delrosario7804 indeed. These Molokai sweet potato leaves are much tastier than your regular bouregard sweet potatoes.
You could also coppice this tree every year.
There is a gang of Satanic cult members. They call themselves the police.
There are 5 black vans and 8 men in black knocking at my door after I watched this, I am on my way to Mexico now...
Great plants. Encouraging to hear that they can grow back from the ground, after cold weather dieback. What are their limits for in-ground hardiness -- maybe 9B?
@@IRONWEED_ not too sure about the hardiness. We’re in 9B and after a couple years the trunks are hard like a tree, the green tops are more like plants. The more Sun the better.
Love to see your beautiful garden. I planted 2 banana trees and now, 2 years later I have over 8 banana trees and that is with me giving over 6 away and tossing 3. So think about how many you plant. Basils are the best pollinators for bees. Love that you grow from seeds. Your Cuban oregano will take over but great for teas and seasoning meats
@@Joan-j1e Thank you. Haven’t used the Cuban oregano yet. Hoping my bananas come next year. Will be into my third year of bananas.
👊👊
I do the same thing with terracotta pots! 👍
For gravity water, we set blue barrels vertical and up on cinder blocks. You can get creative and link a bunch of barrels together with pvc pipe. We have linked 6 together and set them up on a sturdy platform we built. You can link your rain barrels together along the side of your house. Also Lowes carries a cheap alternative that rolls up and stores, only $78, and stores over 260 gallons which is a lot of water. Essentially 5 rain barrels! (VEVOR 264-Gallon Plastic Blue Water Storage Tank) The way it is configured, it will self drain for a drip line. You could encourage faster draining by placing a weight on it like a couple paver bricks. Or set it up on a platform of cinder blocks or wood.
@@May-rz4dv that’s awesome. If we stay in this house for awhile longer that will be a project 👊👊

I hate to tell you this but those are not shiitake mushrooms. They look like they could be chicken of the woods but I am not certain
@@lightbulb9966 Thank you. If they are chicken Of the Woods then even better! Love those

I have a lot of plants from seeds too, it mazing to see them grow. Waiting for fruits. Love your Garden.
🌿🌿 Start composting with a GeoBin! Ideal for all skill levels and designed to get you composting kitchen scraps and yard waste with EASE!! amzn.to/3LQ9xrF
Live in orlando too and starting my compost bin journey! Do you put a tarp over those bins at all especially with the rain? Or just keep it open to air?
I haven’t done the tarps yet. I will once they are full. Not for the water which it needs to stimulate microorganisms to start breaking down the compost, but to trap heat inside.
Can anyone tell me why a re hibiscus I got a couple years ago will never flower. It had flowers, got eaten I assume by deer, grew back and is fine and huge but will not flower. It’s in sun. I just don’t understand it
@@trinidiana that’s bizarre. Could’ve been disease or something that stunted it’s growth from the deer possibly

Hi Mike, I’m in Lakeland and just heard about Steve and save our soil. Do you know if they are still in business? I don’t see anything new from them since last year. Thanks Jan Doolin fruit tree addict
@@FruitTreeAddict yes I’m pretty sure they are still at the Lakeland Farmers Market every Saturday downtown. Tell them I sent you!! Great guys!!
I want to grow watermelon 🍉
Hello Mike, I’m also in Florida, I’ve never grown any food plants. How do you germinate, are the seeds in a special mix with manure?
@@bodybyjoanfitnesshealthcoa2354 hi Joan. Check out this video ->> ua-cam.com/users/shortsGvYe98lcoCs?si=fKiXfdo4AHROMTlY
@@bodybyjoanfitnesshealthcoa2354 should be helpful for germinating.
Try coffee grounds for your pineapple plants.
Oh I meant to ask, do you periodically “stir up” your compost or just keep adding new stuff in?
@@LisaBaker-cb7bg I try to stir our main compost a couple times a month. It’s heavy with leaves and grass clippings so not easily stirred. When I move them to more long term locations around the garden those I don’t stir. Occasionally add weeds/dead plants on top but most of those sit for months once full. 6-12 months.

I’m in Orlando too and find it very challenging to figure out what can tolerate our intense heat that I actually want to eat. My pineapples are doing great (though were better last year) and I’ve harvested a few this year. Thanks for your tips. I especially like your compost bins. Might look into getting one.
