Had a DISH tech come and supposedly run cable that would allow for Joey use in my basement....uhh..nope. Don't know what the hell he did.

I have a hopper what do i need to get a joey without going thru dish. im not signing a contract.
JOey is a Dish device and requires a 24 month agreement.
I use a joey in my room connected to Ethernet. I didn't have to install any nodes or anything new (except to the hopper which I already had because of my pervious VIP system). The hopper is connected to a router in the basement. I have connectivity issues in my room so I connected a separate router to the Ethernet port in my room (which is connected to the modem downstairs) and the joey is connected to the router in my room. I had no problems and the picture was clear and smooth.
So the Joey can function entirely over my LAN via Ethernet, without a coax wire going to it? Thanks!

CJ Davis I don't mind at all! As long as the hopper is connected to your home internet, your Joey should have service when it is connected through ethernet. (Or wifi, if you have the dongle.)
Only for certain programming on the joey.you can't get a joey to broadcast youtube but it works on the hopper in another room.Sucks.Hooking my dvr back up to internet and running youtube thru it.Dish actually lies about a lot of things they say they can do,especially wi-fi, but they are full of s**t.Only the hopper is wi-fi accessible,joeys are wired thru the dish so they arent portable unless you have a 100 ft hdmi cable

Nope as the joeys do not have a tuner only the hopper (host) has tuners.

No you cant.Only the hopper is wireless unless you want to really empty your wallet
Confusing. - It's supposed to record 4 shows at once and watch another. The price is supposed to be the same as your dvr too.
