Beauty is and always has been a virtue. And I don’t know why people like to pretend it isn’t. Probably bc they don’t possess it. People want to say beauty doesn’t matter, yet will allow someone to tell them they don’t deserve to live before allowing people to call others ugly.

The way I see it is human brains are wired for negativity to ensure our best chance of survival. This means by default we do not even see reality as it actually is. So what people call realism etc is actually still a distortion. I’d rather my distortion be lovely and fluffy and full of colour than dreary, cold and negative.

I think that Francis, turned sadist in his relationship with George Dyer, wasn’t exhibiting so much self possession as it was him being through with the man. As awful as that sounds.

I believe Steve Jobs followed a very similar sentiment. This is how he was able to create what he created. People would tell him you can’t do that and he would say yes we can. He pushed boundaries to create the iPhone as we know it today.

I discovered you via Arnika Fairwilde mentioning you in a recent video. I had a thought declutter in my journal last week, specifically about Delusion and manifesting. I came to the conclusion that it’s a mindset switch, if you blindly believe something will happen for you without worrying how it happen logically you involuntarily discover ideas and opportunities. My journal entry was nowhere near as articulate as your video, I’m grateful for the sources you cited. I look forward to looking into them. So glad I discovered your channel, looking forward to more videos. X

my (i guess 7) things (for now): a small book: not a lot in there but once you open it it could open your eyes a raspberry: small perfect imbalance of sweet and sour you never know which one you’ll get water: always on the move almost never really settles a mirror: you can see yourself but truly never just the real you, naked truth a blade: can build you up just as good as it can break you down a shrub: always in the shadow of a much much larger tree but just as beautiful lolita: most times people choose to just misunderstand and stay away rather than getting close and at least trying to understand

I think you're changing my perspective on delusions! They are to be admired. (like your veil!) It's like delusions are the carrot that keeps us going. Knowledge might say we will never get the carrot, but the delusion keeps us heading on a never ending path towards ultimate success, hitting milestones along the way.

Celine, your words never cease to amaze me. Oscar Wilde has been an author that I’ve wanted to read for the longest time, but I think this video was the ultimate push. I downloaded The Decay of Lying on my kindle and I cannot wait to read it. Have you ever read Beauty by Roger Scruton? I think his words resonate a lot with your own beliefs and ideas about beauty and art. Incredible video as per usual ♥️

I don't think that Oscar Wilde positioning the lie as art is just provocation -- art and artifice are inseparable even etymologically. I loved this video, Celine! "Delusion as projection of the will" is fantastic. Love that Nin quote as well.

I’m a 44 year old father and I have been living by this ethos since I was about 19. And I must say, it has made my life so very beautiful. Usually, a couple times a week I get misty eyed just thinking about the art and arc of my life, and I’m incredibly grateful that I had the wherewithal to pay attention to, and invest care into, the little things. You are on the correct path. Stay with it. I certainly will until the day I die.

There are 2 realities. Reality of the sky that can not be changed and is eternal, then there is reality of the land which is changing and we can take inspiration from the univeral truths of the sky to shape this world into the true beauty of the skies. That is what goals and dreams are for. We get inspired something from above and then wish to change this world alike that.

While I understand that the term “delusional” makes for juicier clickbait, better words would be “creative, stubborn, persistent, imaginative” etc. To be delusional means “believing things that are not true”, and that is never a good thing. You may be redefining the word for yourself or simply didn’t actually know what the word means, but language loses all meaning when we can each choose to define words for ourselves, and that’s a pretty delusional (in a bad way) thing to do.

Many people have experienced trauma regarding the treatment they have received around their appearance, and many have received the message that they don’t meet beauty standards and found it painful. So I’m not surprised some have decided not to focus on their appearance, even for the sake of artistic expression. It’s a fraught topic. As some have mentioned in the comments, perhaps balance between eschewing any concern and being obsessed with appearance is ideal. But for some, perhaps living a chapter of life entirely denouncing the importance of appearance is part of healing from being enslaved to the feeling that most of your worth is based on how you look. Ultimately, each must decide what feels right at any given time. To thine own self be true….✌🏽✨
