Just a Little Talk with Jesus
Переглядів 1,2 тис.15 років тому
Recorded at the Museum of Appalachia, Norris, Tennessee, October 1996. The elderly man playing the guitar is Lewis Headrick. The rest of the group were called the Do-Re-Mi Singers. As well as communal singing, they do a verse here in shape note style. Rousing stuff!

If anyone here is depressed or just stuck in life or in addiction please hear me out. Jesus is a Healer. Pray to Him. He is The Creator and died in our place so that we could with Him when we die and not the other place. Call on His name to save you. Salvation is a gift from God. "Believe on The Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved." Everyone who believes will be caught up with Him one day in glory. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17. 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
holy song
My mother grew up in Montrose, Angus in the north east of Scotland. I recognise a few words she used. If I was anxious about anything, she’s say “Dinna fash resel’” it used to comfort me. I miss her terribly. Montrose went from being a great town to a ghost town over night when she died. It was the same with the town my dad was brought up in. It’s so cold and lonely there now even if the street is crowded.
Wow, that's the way it was meant to be played and sung.!
I love this. Any transcript available online anywhere?
May sweetheart JESUS bless YOU!!!!
Absolutely wonderful ❤️ 😊
Best thing ever!
Gillian was one of the OL BROTHER voices and actually had a cameo appearance.
Only hoping these two breed until breeding season is over.
Beautiful!
60 years old, absolute best version of this song I've ever heard! both artists compliment each very well, playing and singing!
She's got the voice of an angel.
❌❌❌Disrespectful to the Lord. Look at him, it’s all about him. If they believe their honorable toward Almighty God they are self-deceived.!
this duo is like a fine wine ... you know the thing .
❤ WOW BRILLIANT 👏 👌 RAY TWELVE STRINGS U.K 🎶

I don't think I've ever witnessed an acoustic guitarist as connected to his instrument; it's literally like an extension of his body. And, what amazing chops and drive! That's a cheap old Epifone he found under a pile of sawdust.
My Mama's song🕊 May 26, 2000
Perfect. Gentle and kind.
I played this song at the end of my Mom’s funeral. I believe she did fly away and certainly would approve. Great version. Artists are often not appreciated. Thank you for such a wonderful version of an amazing hymn.
What a wonderful rendition of this lovely song. Thank you both so much. Ann Arrington/Mississippi
all the beautiful languages in britain and we got stuck with modern english, yikes.
My mother sang this in the uk to me when i was just 3 years old that was 71 years ago and i still remember the words phil from Australia 😃
Carter decsendation Wonderful ❤️ 🙏
Love these folks!
Fancy picking to complement that wonderful singing
This is about as different from modern standard English as the middle English of Chaucer was. Nobody would regard Chaucer's English as the same language as modern English.
Well of course, this is a text from the bible, which would be closer translated to around Chaucer. Anyone from the north of England could understand this
WOW! That guy does what must be considered very high-level guitar picking.
I thought for sure he was going to use profanity at 4:07
I love this
A motorcycle man's song
This song is timeless, well done. At seventy when you hear a song like this one, you are reminded of precious moments you were singing it, time travel.
I wish I'd go to heaven when life ends, but I'm afraid where I'm going will take a plummet instead!
Honey from the rock...
I can’t hear this without thinking of my mother. She came from the north east of Scotland.
Oh my goodness, I could hear ma Mither cryin’ “”Dinna fash yersel laddie” as I listened to this. I’d love a whole bible recorded in the Scots tongue. Thanks so much for uploading these videos.
Beautiful ✌️❤️ to y'all
The music team sang this song at my Dad's funeral at my request.
Love Gillian
Her voice! 😍🥲
Great song, should have got that hair cut sooner Dave Ha
This is absolutely beautiful 😊❤️🌹🎶🎼
Rawlings has an incredible guitar!
its so beautiful, thank u, greetings from taiwan 🙏
Fine.
...magic...just amazing music...these people, in my mind, are sitting on stools and milk cans and porch steps hammering their hearts out...thank you, Gillian and David, thank you Old Crow...I just discovered this - the finest rendition of this I have ever heard...and I'm sorry for myself that years passed-by before I did...I am young again - and I am old and wiser than my experiences - and as all things Gillian and David I am just loving this music...
Sounds great to me!
Dave Rawlings is the best folk guitarist ever!
Some bright morning when this life is over I'll fly away To that home on God's celestial shore I'll fly away I'll fly away, oh glory I'll fly away, in the morning When I die, Hallelujah by and by I'll fly away When the shadows of this life have gone I'll fly away Like a bird from these prison walls I'll fly I'll fly away I'll fly away, fly away, oh glory I'll fly away, in the morning When I die, Hallelujah by and by I'll fly away Oh, how glad and happy when we meet I'll fly away No more cold iron shackles on my feet I'll fly away I'll fly away, oh glory I'll fly away, in the morning When I die, Hallelujah by and by I'll fly away I'll fly away, oh glory I'll fly away, in the morning When I die, Hallelujah by and by I'll fly away Just a few more weary days and then I'll fly away To a land where joys will never end I'll fly away I'll fly away, fly away, oh glory I'll fly away, in the morning When I die, Hallelujah by and by I'll fly away I'll fly away Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Albert E.
