Tools can scr@w you! | 2023 Honda CMX500 Rebel | Valve Clearance Check / Adjustment Ride
Completing the valve check on our 2023 Honda Rebel 500 I noticed two things… first check your tools because they will steer you in the wrong direction. Second is how ingenious the valve train layout is on this Honda!
So I encourage you all to verify your tools and enjoy those moments where engineers make mechanics lives easier! It’s a rare occasion but worth mentioning!

Unboxing AGV Sport Modular | My New Helmet Setup | Dark Refractive Carbon
Переглядів 1,5 тис.9 годин тому
My favorite helmet, the AGV Sport Modular, seems to be getting harder to find. I got lucky and found a dark refractive carbon in size large and here’s how I set mine up with AGV’s ARK communication system (basically an older Sena product beautifully disguised by AGV). AGV also ships this helmet with a Pinlock 120 anti-fog insert, simple installation and highly recommended.

This module works with the ‘96 controls to give not only self cancelling turn signals (11 second delay) but also run / turn in the front and run / turn / brake in the rear. Finishing the teardown as parts are arriving I find the steering head bearings to be worn out and heavily sticking. Could this be the cause or part of the cause for the steering wobble which resulted in my crash? I don’t know but I’m certainly not taking that chance and they are being replaced!

Fork oil change replacing original 17k mile 10w oil with fresh Motul 15w oil. Chanté ( @Beastie_Bunny ) has noticed a few issues with her Rebel 500 front end including diving under braking and more concerning a random wobble at higher speeds (65 ) specifically over rough or uneven pavement. After my recent wobble resulted in a spill on the FatBoy I wanted to try a solution I’ve read about sev...

First ride after 20 years leaves me questioning my life decisions | 1984 Harley Davidson Tour Glide
Very cool to see you wrenching on another ride ! I had a 1989 CBR 600 that I bought in 1994, with regular maintenance she gave me 50,000 miles with zero headaches. I sold her in 2022 to make room for my 22’ Fat Bob. Wifey would let me keep it in the garage with the other sleds that were getting accumulated in the garage with my 21 year old son buying 2 bikes… Always a pleasure to see what you are doing….
does it have about the same dynamics as the tour glide?
I never rode a motorcycle of any kind in my life. But seeing this footage, I kind of get it. It's a vibe for sure!
It's all made in China sh!t.
Wish my gf wouldn't be so adamant against me riding bikes, I'd love to. Looks like you're having the time of your life with that old girl.
It's not always about the "How To..." of your video's. Honestly, other than watching you bring an old bike back to life, the way you talk to the camera, it's like bs'ing with a friend. Kinda why I watch your videos. I can google the snot out of how to's ;)
@@Swanny. thank you! Seriously I always wonder if I ramble on with my thoughts so this is really nice to hear!
I'm glad you brought up checking the feeler gauges. I hadn't thought about them not being right. 🤔
Be cool bruh
not sure if they have flea markets or thrift stores but find you someone who sells older tools and get you a set of feeler gages either old craftsman set or a old set from Japan, they were always closer to what they are marked at than anything you could buy today
@@raleighpacheco6243 great point, will keep en eye out for those 👍🏻
Good job. I set valves a tad loose. I’d rather have a tick than a burnt valve. That’s just me. Wish my Spyder twin was that easy. Be well and go get a sandwich!
@@JohnStruemph 👏
love that valve setup I guess that's so you can adjust the valves without touching the cam chain I guess. not a job I enjoy on my V-twins. Personally I always favour an engine that is easier to work on and it would influence my purchasing decision if I was aware that one bike was a lot easier to maintain than another. also on the topic of suspension fluids I remember seeing a forum post where a bro did a viscosity test on a whole range of different brands of fork oil and the difference was ridiculous with some brands w15 being equal to a different brands w5 so if you find a weight that you like make sure you buy the same brand again in the future as the same weight from a different supplier could behave very differently at different temperatures or the same at low temps and different at high temps, its a huge rabbit hole once you go down it.
@@IsntThisAStupidName good to know on the fork oil, will keep that in mind thank you! And agreed I prefer engines and vehicles that just seem designed for easier maintenance and repair… as if one of the designers actually works on their own vehicles lol
Honda is currently the most reliable motorcycle brand. Nothing wrong with the quality. 😉
@@Japjongetje when I say quality, they have to use lower end parts in certain places to keep costs in check, for example the chain and tires didn’t make 9k miles, but their overall design is very good 👍🏻

@@joeharley87 the brass one is used to set an air gap in magnetic type systems. It is nearly impossible to set an air gap with gauges that stuck to the magnets. You can’t feel the drag from the point contact. .010" has historically been the typical air gap.
Good info thx
The Italian helmets are underrated compared to the Japanese brands like Arai or Shoei. Currently wearing an X-Lite (premium line of Nolan) myself. That new AGV looks great, I may try one of their Tour Modulars.
The bike looks and sounds great! Could you post a video on the tour pack mounting bracket?
@@Screamincycle thanks! Yeah I could do one mounting it up, I believe it’s the factory racket and tour pack 👍🏻
@@tta850 that would be awesome even if you showed how it mounted up. It’s hard to find certain parts for those bikes.

What is your favourite thing to ride out of all of the vehicles in your garage?
Aprilia Tuono V4… that’s the honest answer each of them have things they excel in but the Tuono V4 does everything well for my riding style 👍🏻
@@tta850awesome choice
I have a 2022 and the reverse is broken. There should be a recall,
@@michaellippett794 that’s not a good sign, so far several trips in she’s been trouble free but I feel like based on what I’m hearing if there is an issue it will be catastrophic!
It is a big job to change the starter. The starter uses a cable and it stretches. Such a high tech bike with a out dated cable.

Shoei has saved my head more than once love them
Here sporting a Halcón H-5 (It offers the same protection as a plastic bucket and is only good for keeping the transit cops from annoying you) but it's all I could afford.
Awesome! Three words to make you smile first thing in the morning: Potato, potato, potato! 😀 Be well!
I'm myself a Shoei / Arai man but I always loved AGV style.
Shoei makes great helmets, and Arai is pretty much the best for long oval head shape, but agreed for style AGV really gets it done!
Are these helmets quiet?
I find them quiet, especially compared to my other AGV helmets (Pista, K6). But i have no experience with modular helmets from other companies.
Stranded myself on an 81 yamaha in manhattan with known bad charging system. Still better than not riding it though
💯
If you take it to Sturgis there's a guy down there that can clear coat it but keeps all the patina ,make that bike look killer.
No better way to get around town aside from a scooter. West coast rider here, Northern California. My brother has moved to upstate New York… gonna pay him a visit after I retire in January.
I'll take my japanese made shoei over that Chinese made junk.
Thanks for sharing your AGV helmet setup. Great information.
Thank you!
Very nice helmet. Harley Davidson and Sena collaborated and made the Outrush R Modular. It is what I use. How did you connect the helmet audio to the GoPro? Your voice audio while riding always sounds quite good. Wondering if I can pair mine. Thanks.
@@TheSonofHarold thanks! I heard about that HD / Sena helmet last time I was at the dealer, if it’s like mine it’s pretty simple just put it in Bluetooth pairing mode and on the GoPro select pairing and then select the Sena 👍🏻
