Stealing from Tourists is not taken lightly in remote Lao. Whoever did it got caught and reprimanded.

The Lao jungles are not safe alone mate. A wild Bull Buffalo not happy with you will kill you. Heaps of pit vipers etc not to mention the very rare chance of bear or tiger rhino(xrare) or angry wild elephant(most are domesticated). Anyway guess you were not unlucky... (not to mention cartel militias).

Losing a phone is the worst, although when mine jumped unknown out of my bike holder when I got home half an hour later using my iPad and timeline found where it was, got the missus to call my number and a female answered saying she found it lying in the road, big big relief. This is in NE Thailand, she only wanted me to visit her massage shop, refused to take any money, although I insisted and she eventually gave in.
