Dollar Store Weapon Challenge
Переглядів 1074 роки тому
Okay okay, so this has nothing to do with the corvette but my kids are the best and we wanted to make a fun video of just one of the awesome things we did this quarantine summer before school started again. We went to the local dollar store and they each had 5$ to spend. The objective was to make a weapon from items that are not normally considered a weapon. We did this once before at my sister...
C5 Corvette EBCM traction control fix under $15.00 2001-2004
Переглядів 197 тис.5 років тому
If you have error messages for Service Traction Control, Service ABS, this fix is for you. Dealerships want to charge over 1700.00 to fix this issue but you can do it for under $15.00. This was done on a 2002. When I made this video I did not take into account this part is different on the earlier C5 models. Sorry to give false hope to those with the earlier versions through 2000. This should w...

What year is your c5?
One more critical thing to do, clean the mother board until it is squeaky clean. It took me over 45 minutes. According to a computer guy, it is essential to have a clean MB.
Does this work on a 2000 c5
Instead of vice grips, use a ratcheting wrench on the screw driver handle to break the bolts loose.
11:28 Giggity
What Year? 97-00 have a different unit. 01- 04 are easily repairable
Will this work on a 2000s corvette
Harbor Freight sells extended Torx bits for 3/8" drive ratchet for about $16. These would have saved you a ton of frustration.
To break that difficult T20 holding the module you could cut a Torx screwdriver shaft to length, then weld on a piece of steel at right angles to the end.
Why did you install the LMC5 wrong in the first place ? Was the instructions wrong.? Just wondering. I could not get the wires out so had to get flat hauler to take mine to shop. They put LMC5 in and I almost got stuck out again. NOT FIXED.
Only work on 2000 and up tough
So I have a 99 and was told 97 to 99 or 2k are completely different and not serviceable. New not available and are specific manual vs auto. Bought manual type from junk yard for 1k. It lasted say 8 months before it died. Just a little info..
Great job
Lyle I have a 1997 c5 Corvette I park it in my driveway I want outside now it won't start until it not getting any spark on gas I took it to a shop they took me it the PCM I also getting reduce power I put some starter fluid it is trying to start up someone else toll me it is the throttle control module so can you tell me what do you think what could be wrong with it
THANK U
Does this work for 2000 c5?
ABS & TCS light came on Sunday🤬I thought this repair had already been done by the previous own but it hadn’t. After soldering & plugging back in all is good. Thank you from Scotland 🏴 2001 Coupe Z51 M. Yellow.
I know this is and older post. What year did you repair. I am understanding this cannot be done on the 1998 or am I wrong. Thank you for the great video
Love how engineers ruin stuff that worked for ages!! Brake by wire and braking distance actually increases and the cost for repair goes through the roof!!
Hey, did Anybody try this on C6 yet. Mann i don’t want to give up so easy. It has been a month already. Thanks in advance.
Super video, thanks!
I own a set of folding t set. It's not unlike a set of folding Allen wrenches. I gives you a little tork because of the fold. Nice set, I believe about 20 bucks
Does anyone know if this works for the 2000 I was told my problem is the steering wheel position sensor thanks in advance
So I got a Christmas tree of lights like three of them I guess this is the problem?
I've always wondered why there is a complaint that the EBCM on C5 Corvettes up to the year 2000 is not repairable. Mine is 1999 and I have repaired the EBCM module myself and it has worked for the last 5 years without any problems. So I did something right.
Was your repair the same as this thanks
@@CABNY1 No. Different way. I've always been of the opinion that everything can be repaired if you just learn and be patient and try and experiment and the result was that I got the device in order and it still works.
Just listened to a quy about haw hard ebcm for c5 are to find. He said nothing about repair. Thanks for the info. I have a 99 with 200000 miles on it.
You're really slow at getting to the point but hopefully this will work on mine.
I have a 2000 C5 and the Service Traction Control/ABS? Service Active Handling light went on and stayed on. I called my mechanic and he will take a look at it but he said if it's the module that you can't find them for the earlier models. He knows my car is a 2000 so I assume he meant 1997 to 2001 as earlier models. If it ends up being the module do you know where I can find them?
I took my entire dashboard off to fix the gauge cluster via soldering on my Prius once. WELL worth it ! Save me $1200 and a month without the car.
Isn’t this solution only for 2002 to 2004?
Hey! Great video, super informative! I was wondering, what year is your vette? From my research the repair can’t be done on 97-2000 but it CAN be done on 2001-04. Was wondering if you’ve heard of this or in your experience you can fix it on any of them? Thanks!!
This is for a 2001 and up c5 not the 1997-2000 as they have a different EBCM I was told. The 97-2000 can’t be rebuilt or fixed.
I'll leave mine alone. If I try to mess with it I'll really screw it up
What watt soldering iron are you using?
Does this work on the 97-2000, ive been told those are unrepairable?
What yr model did you do this on? Did it have the Bosch unit?
Im a new c5 owner and I was going 75mph on the highway a couple weekends ago. All of a sudden my back end felt like it got loose and my DIC was reading “service active handling soon”. Would this fix that issue? It was pretty scary
THIS ONLY WORKS ON 2001-2004 VETTES
Watch the video, it’s great, and read many reviews but I’m left wondering if while separating the pieces is there anything that can be disturbed or fall out we should be concerned about. Thank you for the video, I’ve gotten the screws out and preparing for separation now. Thanks
What year vette did the ebcm come out off, i have a 99.
2002. When I made the video I didn’t know it was different for the earlier C5 models. Sorry.
@@corkycars93 Thanks for the quick reply, thats a bugger.
One suggestion I would make when doing the pullout of the EBCM unit is to get the front end of the car up on ramps if possible. The hardest part of this fix is the bending over trying to get to the hex screws on the unit. Lift her up several inches and your back will thank you and the job will go faster.
I have a 1998 and have same issue my question is if my is the same than the one you fix on the video or is diferent thank you.
Great video! Loved your enthusiastic “the lights off!”. I know that feeling!
You were able to test it without remounting.? I have a 1998 C5 Vett. module been disconnected to allow me to still drive. I'm ready after watching your video get it fixed Thanks for your information. I'm going to tag your site for possible future issues. I plan on keeping the car.
Just did our o3 deville dash had 3 lites abs brake trac control,engine...splitting the module was tough ,then tapping, and used the bolt to finally pop it open, resoldered ,then silicone ,and really tight to get at,...but sucess its fixed
I was really worries about getting a 97-2000 corvette because i heard they dont make this part anymore and its super expensive to fix but after watching this video i think i can still get 97-2000 corvette because all i was looking at was 2001-2002.
Why did you come to the conclusion that this part was failing?
Here i am , just prepping myself to buy a c5 next fall.
Awesome Teaching!
What year is your corvette?
