Alternative route to medicine - Tom from You Can Do Medicine
In this video we hear from Tom from the UA-cam channel You Can Do Medicine to hear about his journey to medicine. In this video we’ll hear about how Tom went from beer to Bier’s blocks via an alternative route to get into medicine as well as some of the challenges faced when starting medical school!
Tom studied a year long Intro to Medicine course before deciding to pursue medicine at Edinburgh. This video also serves to demonstrate how experience that may seem non-medical (e.g. managing a pub) can be used during medical applications.
You Can Do Medicine (no relation of You Can Be A Doctor!) is Tom’s personal channel where he gives a platform to other medical students at University of Edinburgh and beyond to give aspiring doctors a look at what motivates the doctors of tomorrow.

Are all medicine exams at glasgow multiple choice qs?
The written exams for most medical schools are multiple choice now. This might sound easy but believe me they know how to write the questions to really test you! You will also do graded projects ('SSCs') and sit practical exams which are in person with actors, and most universities will conduct practical anatomy exams in the pre-clinical years which involve completing 'short answer' questions.

Well given 5 minutes plus i believe anyone could score 900/900. Problem lies with having to do all this in under 30 seconds XD
You're so right - the questions (in any section) can appear deceptively easy during practice which is why it's so crucial to do timed practice, and use the mock tests once you become comfortable. It can really be a wake-up when you do your first timed mock test! The key is to acknowledge that you are unlikely to be able to give every question your full attention and instead triage the easiest questions first to maximise your possible marks!
