Soviet Coneheads: Soviet SSH-60 vs SSH-68 Helmet Identification
Today we're looking at the differences between the Soviet SSH-60 and SSH-68 helmets - two helmets that seem to be oftentimes confused by owners. The SSH-68 is an improvement on the original SSH-60 shape, with better ballistic protection, stronger materials, etc., (even if it looks pretty ridiculous.) There's a few key differences in these helmets that you can see immediately, and a few other differences you can find with a quick inspection.

Putin's Prison Brigades Pt. 2: Soviet WWII Helmets in Frontline Ukrainian Combat
Переглядів 257Місяць тому
Today we're looking at a pair of Soviet SSH-40 helmets recovered around the Bakhmut area of Ukraine. Both these helmets show extensive battle damage, and were worn by Wagner group convict soldiers during the extensive fighting there. The SSH-40 helmet was introduced during WWII and became the standard Soviet helmet until more modern versions like the SSH-60 and SSH-68 surpassed it. However, bot...
Kind of like the SSH-40, but better: The Soviet SSH-60 Cold War Helmet
Переглядів 212Місяць тому
Today we're looking at the Soviet SSH-60 helmet, which was a Cold War era improvement of the original WWII era SSH 40 helmet. The SSH-60 kept the same shape, but used a new liner system, and was generally a modernized and improved version of the original SSH-40. Indeed, many are still in use around the world today, and some are even seeing combat in the Ukraine in 2024.
Putin's Prison Brigades: A Battle Damaged SSH-60 Helmet From Bakhmut, Ukraine.
Переглядів 264Місяць тому
Today we're looking at an extensively battle damaged Soviet era SSH-60 helmet, used by Russian prison/convict brigades during the fighting around Bakhmut, Ukraine. The Wagner group employed about 2/3 of their fighting force as convicts from Russian prisons, and these "soldiers" were poorly trained and equipped, suffering horrendous losses during the meatgrinder that was the Battle of Bakhmut.
Helmets of the New World Order: A UN Peacekeeping Force Blue M51 Helmet.

Today we're looking at an example of the US BLU-77 "Rockeye II" cluster bomb submunition. These small bomblets are designed to be dispersed over a large area from a canister, targeting enemy vehicles, but are also equipped with an anti-personnel mechanism to ensure casualties. Cluster munitions generally have a higher than normal dud rate, and become a hazard in former war zones, where they con...

Today we're looking at an example of a German WWI Luger pistol, excavated from the Meuse Argonne sector battlefields. This is a typical WWI example, with what appears to be a 1916 date, Imperial German acceptance marks, and all visibly matched numbers. The gun itself has been through some type of really terrific trauma, and is a very vivid reminder of the shock of WWI.

    Hello. I noticed that one of the 714 digit numbers on this gun is 715 inside. I have a c96. The three digit number is 295 and the internal number is 296. The dealer said it was a manufacturer's error. I have been confused. This Why? Can you help me answer it?

    • @historicmilitaria
      @historicmilitaria 7 днів тому

      It could very well be a manufacturing error, given that the numbers are one off from each other.

    • @dafu788
      @dafu788 7 днів тому

      @@historicmilitaria Thank you for your reply. I think so too. If the numbers are too different, it should be that the parts have been replaced. If the difference is only one digit, the probability is too low and it is almost impossible. Can I think that this is a matching number?

    • @historicmilitaria
      @historicmilitaria 6 днів тому

      One number off on one part in an otherwise matching gun would be "matching" in my book!

      Very hard to tell if there's no more ink stamp. I have one of these, which saw much service and whose stamp isn't there anymore, and if I'm sure it's a WW2 helmet, that's only because I know where it was found, in Chinese Manchuria. Indeed, the best and safest way to have a genuine WW2 soviet helmet is to find a Ssh36 or a Ssh39 as they weren't made anymore after the war, but they aren't that easy to grab and rather expensive

    🟢🟢[cta26.08'24] Both the Full Size and Centurion pistols use full sized frame lowers. The Full Size and Centurion slides and barrels are interchangeable; Significantly longer in the Centurion slide but with the extra barrel length- the muzzle can be threaded 1/2-28 w/ CNC Warrior tools (length measurement between muzzle to slide: comparable to SilencerCo's Beretta 92 threaded barrel). Recoil springs must match OE barrel & recoil spring sets; I have test fired both in normal and swapped configurations with no issues or adverse effects. Currently config'd: Full Size 92 Frame / Centurion slide / Full Size barrel (threaded) / reduced power springs (hammer & recoil)😁🤙🏼

    SRCM stands for Società Romana Costruzione Militari. I've used this grenade when I was doing my military service in 1997/98. You remove the rubber tag, holding the grenade in your right hand with your index on the aluminium cap. You throw the grenade and in flight the aluminium cap detaches pulling the safety pin by means of the brass chain. Upon impact the inertia detonator is triggered and it goes bang. The rubber tags were often used as keyrings, the brass chains were used by older soldiers (in terms of service) to keep their webbing belt buckle slack, without the belt falling off. These practices were obviously frowned upon by officers. I never did the belt buckle trick, but I had a rubber tag on my locker padlock key cord. When landing on soft ground they regularly didn't go off, so one of the bomb disposal NCOs would blow them with a detonator.
