A girl with a garden, some projects and too much stuff…
We are beginning a year-long BIG project minimizing and downsizing our life! Come along as we address just about every part of life that can be simplified--our possessions, my body, our garden, our spending, my recipe stack. See if my packrat husband decides this is the year...or not!
We live on a small rural property (a farm-ish or tiny farm) in Northwest Alabama. We moved here in 2022 and promptly started to rehab the yard and planting beds that were mainly full of weeds. In the spring of 2023 we started small bale gardening and were so successful we hope to expand our raised beds to increase the number of varieties of veggies we can grow. Will this be the year we get grapes in? How about those chickens (NO says hubby)? It is all a learning experiment, so please join us in a conversation about what works and what won't.

August 2024 Garden Tour and a preview of my Seedtime Winter Garden Challenge
Here is where we are at April 3rd in our little garden. After the tour I do a bit of maintenance on the acorn squash, the sunflowers and cut the basil back to make pesto. I also talk a bit about the Seedtime Winter Garden Challenge and what I am starting now to put in the garden later!

Our heat streak here in Northwest Alabama continues so today we are making sure the plants get a good drink of fish emulsion. We use the Alaska Fish Emulsion that is readily available at your local big box store or farm supply store.
