Kauan on Kärsitty - Finnish Guard Marching Song (Lyrics)
This song is about Finnish volunteers fighting against Turks in 1877 war between Ottoman Empire and Russia, and has nothing to do with WW2.

As a Russian, it is hard for me to believe that we, Russians and Finns, once fought together against a common enemy. And it hurts me to watch what is happening between us now. I hope peace will come again.
All the Finnish brothers that fought with us for our freedom and future will not be forgotten o7 Eternal love from Romania 🇷🇴♥️🇫🇮
The Finns fought bravely as part of the Russian army against the Turks in 1877-1878. It is a pity that later Russia and Finland had to quarrel because of the poison of Bolshevism.
🇳🇴❤️🇫🇮
Sinne jäi soturi, lapsuuden ystävä.
Unironicaly my childhood song, I loved listening to this song in art class in 5th grade, of course with other finish songs Edit: I didn't know it was about the Balkan war
🇫🇮 Kauan on Kärsitty 🇫🇮👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Seems like the later song "Vapaussoturin valloituslaulu" (the freedom fighters conquering song roughly) is based on this
Kiitos suomalaiset sankarit. Kunnioitus Bulgariasta.
Por que hay búlgaros en los comentarios?
The song is about the finnish soldiers fighting in bulgaria (Im from Finland)
It's hard to argue a more based European country than Finland
It's easier than you think
The song almost tells a story. Never knew about the history between 🇫🇮 🇧🇬
Because Finland was part of the Russian Empire at that time
"Nothing to do with ww2" is there something wrong with finland in ww2?They got invaded thats bad???
No the problem is this was for the 1877 war . But in WW2 the lyrics were changed to fit that setting
@@captainmccuckin2698 what is the ww2 version? i've only heard the civil war version.

We have not forgotten how your men came to help us in our War of Independence. Warm greetings from Estonia, and if you ever need our help, we'll be there.
This song gives me goosebumps 🫡🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️

And then Russia let its Muslim soldiers lose on Europe in two world wars.
I hope to understand you correctly. But what did you mean? You speak as if we (I am Russian) fought for the Muslims in the world wars
Veteraanit vaan vähenee kunnia heille😢❤🫡
Me when reading these comments as Finnish-German makes me happy. its haply to see what bulgarians remeber that we have already forgetted.
We Finns have been elite soldiers during all our history and we defended other countries! Then we was part of Sweden our elite troop was Hakkapeliitat cavalry unit! And when we was part Russia again! We defended and in Kokkola 1854 June Halkokarin kahakka was BIG thing in Russia! Yeah Finns won Brittish Navy (2 ships)! But even today boat which was captured then is still in city center! And no one hasn't tried landing in Kokkola after 1855 then other British navy unit tried to get even humiliation of year before! And sorry bad English!
I didn't know that the Finns helped us so much during the Crimean War. Thank you
@@88boomerswithoutborders14 That was our civilians made with help of couple Guns and Russian cossacs! Other Victory happened October 1877 when Bulgarians won Gornij Djubnak with Russians and Finns! Because Finns helped Russians to capture Gornij Djubnak fortress from Ottomans! But Halkokari was reason why tzar gave us spesial rights! And early 1900'' s someone got good idea lets make Finns Russians! After alla this ended badly if you look situation as russian
I am 0% Finnish but this song is making me patriotic.
If you feel it, for me you're Finnish in my eyes. To be a finn is a mindset.
This wasn't the Crimean War. If you want a Finnish song about the Crimean War, search for Oolannin sota.
Composer Uuno Klami used the melody in the final part of his 2nd symphony (1945) . I hope this is right one, I am not expert with this song. ua-cam.com/video/rW8pB7ohw_w/v-deo.html
googled "Kauan on Kärsitty laulun tausta" = Kauan on Kärsitty background. result "Suomen kaarti paluulaulu" = Finnish Guard return song ("Long ago we have suffered from cold and hunger...") is a Finnish folk song that tells about the participation of the Finnish Guard in the Turkish war of 1877-1878. The second stanza of the song refers to the battle of Gornyi Dubnjak, in which Finns participated. The song is also known by several other names, as it has long been suffered, O dear homeland and the return march of the Finnish Guard. The composer or lyricist of the song is unknown. According to the big book of wish songs, it would be the same song as "Muisto marsi Suomen Kaartin kotia printa from Turkin Sotantanteree", composed and published by the author of the archival songs G. W. Gustafsson in 1878, which was intended to be sung to the tune of the folk song "Laulava leiwo, wirkoisa wieno". Gustafsson composed his song after watching the return march of the Finnish Guard in Helsinki in May 1878. Apparently, the "Finnish Guard's Homecoming Song" and the "Finnish Guard's Departure Song", which has survived to this day ("Suomen kaartin tiltolaulu" ("A thousand boys went to school...") are not sheet music in origin, but ordinary songs. The Turkish war inspired a total of 113 archetypes in Finland, none of which are known today. During the Finnish Civil War, both the whites and the reds made up the "Finnish Guard Return Song" to compose their own songs. The whites used the melody in "Vapaussoturi's valloitus laulu" / freedom fighter conquering song ("Long time ago the ryssien's rule") and the reds in the song "Kauhun päivät Hennala" / horror days hennala. Composer Uuno Klami used the melody in the final part of his 2nd symphony (1945). " Hennala camp was a concentration camp operating from the beginning of May 1918 to 15 September 1918 in the Hennala Garrison in Lahti, Finland. Almost 13000 reds was in camp, including over 2200 women and 289 under 15 years old children. 218 women was shot without court, youngest was 14 years old. More than 1200 people died there.
Missä on Gorni Dubnjak? Terveisia serbiasta?

Greetings from Bulgaria.
Thank you Bulgarians for comments! Your words actually mean a lot to us Finns even today. In addition to the fact that we are descendants of these soldiers, this is exactly part of our culture. Always be ready to fight for justice. And we are proud of it. Dear greetings from Finland!
I've been to Bulgaria and Hungary. Even tho Hugnraians are our "brothers" i found out that Bulgarians respect Finns way more. They know their history.
