At 6am on Tuesday, April 30th, 2013, Discovery Real Time came to an end. The channel began life as TLC, before being renamed Discovery Home & Leisure and later Real Time. Fittingly, 'The Joy of Painting' was one of the signature programmes of Discovery Home & Leisure. A lot of Real Time content is now on Discovery Home & Health.

American Adventure Singing Bears

These bears are located in the top (grand) entrance to the American Adventure theme park in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. These bears where switched off c.1997 when this entrance was closed, and have only recently been reused for those making use of Rocky's Adventureland. The channel will replace UKTV G2 on Virgin Media and Sky and will take over UKTV History's slot on Freeview relgating UKTV History to the 6am-6pm slot occupied by the outgoing UKTV BrightIdeas. For those who don't know, it'll be called 'Dave' because everybody knows someone called Dave. Okay!

Nah, the original tape didn't have the 'great day your way' slogan which was implemented at some point in the early 90s.
This is the 90s showtape. The 80s showtape had all singing instead of a load of instrumentals

Soooooo basically this started as TLC, changed into something else similar, and then they went and abandoned this channel for a new one when they went back to being TLC? Pretty odd honestly, sounds like there should be more to this story.
In Discovery’s defence, when the channel first launched under the TLC name, the American channel was still an educational service. By the time it was set to return, the American channel removed the educational stuff for reality programming. Discovery UK must have decided to promote it as a new channel as a result instead of a relaunch.

Good to see this again; unfortunately, this show never returned for a second series (as originally intended) because it fell foul of broadcasting rules. Contestants bringing in their own money into the studio to play the game was not allowed under broadcasting rules.
That would have also prevented a first series if it had been what actually happened. The law didn't change. The money they 'bought in to the studio' was production money.
A shame because I thought it was enthralling.
