My dad was a Plank Owner of this boat. QMC(SS) Gerald L. Farr. He served from Jan. '64 to Nov. '68. I'll bet he is on it somewhere when this was filmed. I sure wished I could show it to him. I can't remember what crew he was on. I almost want to say gold but, I'm not sure. (I was young, 6 to 11.) He passed in 2020...

I watched Surveyor 1 land on television that night. There was a Full Moon hanging low in the southern sky that I could see from our south facing window in the living room of our house. And I saw the first images of the footpad come down to Earth at the same time I could see the Moon. Amazing. I'll Never forget it.
