This video is shit. You didn’t even tell him those puppies don’t fucking exist. Because in his mind - everything is created with a computer these days. I don’t think you managed to make him understand what he was watching. You should’ve also showed more crazy videos that are going around - when people morph into birds, which then morph into rockets flying into space, etc. Finally, stop thinking “ai changing the world is just around the corner”. It will be around the same corner for..well..I bet hundreds of years 😂

You should be showing it to the hardcore big iron pioneers of the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's... the lunatic fringe mathematicians, hardware hackers, engineers, and early software programmers... Finally, in 2024, they have the computer they all wanted and would of k1lled for back then. At least that's how even the 8bit hackers from the early 80's feel...

Good point, I meant to ask Irving that. The AI scifi example that most immediately comes to my mind is the HAL 9000 computer from 2001 A Space Odyssey...and that didn't give a very optimistic view of AI :)

Too much hype in the questions "pretty soon any human on earth will be able to type in a handful of words and generate a video that looks like it was produced by the finest special effects department or video production company in the world".... This remains to be seen. You can't just say "omg it got so much better over the last five years, there is no chance it will plateau in the next five!". Currently Sora is incredible, and no one argues about that... But. Under scrutiny, most of what it produces doesn't hold up to reality and is obviously AI-generated. Many of the demos published were even faked in part. Just claiming its "about to be" better than the finest human productions is putting the cart way before the horse.
