Thanks for the review. Would have been nice to show the whole pulling up process and the actual clean up. I usually put the paper filter on top of the metal filter, not beneath it. What grinder are you using and what actual setting? Also, water temperature?
@@aarjayemm Thanks for the comment. I didn’t wanna bore everyone with how I clean it so that’s why I decided to cut some of it out. However I can feature it in a feature video and the whole pulling up process. Ah okay. That works too. Recently though I only use a paper filter due to easier cleanup. Using eg1 with ulf burrs. Grind setting is about 4 -5 steps from burr lock. So around 350-450microns. Depends on the type of coffee and paper filter I’m using though. So with Sibarist I usually go finer. Water: zero water jug and then I add either half a pack of TWW when mixing it with 2 liters of distilled water or the apax lab water minerals which have been my daily driver since the last month.

What are your impressions after using the bird for a few months? Is it as fun to use as it looks?
@@busby01 it’s fun to use for sure. However clean up is less fun and takes some time. Brews can be everything from amazing to good to dull. All depends on the recipe and steep time. Lately I’ve been using a pretty coarse grind and going longer like 7 min and that gives tons of clarity and sweetness and less body. I wish there were more recipes online, but I can totally understand why that doesn’t exist since it’s pretty pricey. I will say it’s been my daily driver since I use it 2-3 times everyday. I’ll be making a review soon. Just been so occupied with work and not finding the time to do a proper review. I might just press record and review it briefly though so I can cross it off my list 😅
Is it not a safety feature should you come across a stone, so as not to damage the burrs?
True. That’s what I heard. However this version was v2 that I borrowed from a friend. The v3 doesn’t have stalling issues due to bean feeder/propeller.

@@cascaderetriever7618 agree. Agreed. This was the v2 of the eg1 that I had borrowed from a friend. It stalled a lot. However the v3 have not stalled at all for the two months I’ve had it due to a bean feeder they’ve installed
All and all it’s a very capable grinder and has giving me some of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever made. The alignment though is a bit finicky and leaves little to be desired. This becomes an issue whenever you swap burrs and have to feel yourself around the edges of the burrs in order to align it well.
What do you think about the grinder?
Man that seems like forever. Is that with the brew burrs or the standard burrs?

@@ArvinRosales03 it definitely takes some time to grind unfortunately. Took me about a minute to grind a single cup pour over. If all you care about is clarity and juiciness in the cup and don’t mind grinding for a while then yeah it’s worth it I’d say. The workflow is a pain though. 😏
@George_explores_coffee met someone at the expo that has a pietro, he said its amazing. i have a k ultra and a zp6. zp6 is also known for its clarity, and its definitely longer to grind compared to my q2 and k ultra. i cant imagine the clarity with your grinder. enjoy!!!
@@ArvinRosales03 Ah cool. Yeah the clarity the Pietro brings is out of this world. No astringency which is a huge plus. I compared it to the ssp mp and found the pietro m-modal to be more round and not as astringent.

I don't think they're a scam. I haven't invested as I knew very early on that it's super hard to build a machine like theirs. On the other hand, I happily invested in the Timemore Sculptor on Indiegogo because grinders are simple things that provide meaningful upgrades on shot quality. Plus Timemore already had a great company history. Espresso machines on the other hand are much more complex and have a much greater law of dimishing returns. I still hope Meticulous succeeds because we need more innovators in this industry.
Just received mine a few days ago, if you haven’t seen it, there’s a manual on their website where they suggest a steep time of 5 minutes. However i found the flavor to be to harsh when steeping for that long so currently I’m steeping for 3 minutes and I might even try dropping to 2. Looking forward to seeing your review.
@@soer7022 yeah I saw that too that they had the manual on their website. 5min is a bit long. I took it down 4min and the astringency wasn’t as present. I’m experimenting now with brew times around 2:30 to 3min mark and they’ve been better but can be a bit thin and not as round. What grind size are you using? Mine has been around moka pot sorta medium fine

I just got mine BIRD as well, and sad to say, seems Weber starting to degrading their BIRD brewing basket quality, changing the beautifully CNC machined basket to the injection molding ones, shame on Weber.You can actually go to other reviewer's early version BIRD and see the difference. But still hope you brewing delicious coffee as always.
Hi there, I’m sorry for the late reply. I’ve heard that as well that they changed the cnc machined basket. I’m not sure how they are suppose to look though. I’ll make a review and upload it here in the next few days. Let me know if you have any questions you want me to cover in the review. Overall my impressions are a bit mixed.

Hi, So I’d say the key is more similar to the taste profile of the core burrs on the EG1 which is very balanced with clarity sweetness and low to medium body/mouthfeel. If you go on the lowest rpm on the key than you get more clarity and less body. I actually sold my eg 1 since I felt I got more value for money with the key due to the low rpm range. The key is great for natural processed coffees - that’s where it truly shines. If you only drink washed coffees I’d recommend you get a df64 with mp burrs. The key does a good job with washed coffees as well but I feel it shines with processed coffees, enhancing the sweetness and balance of the coffees. Overall the shots and filter brews have been very sweet, bright and juicy.
How does the key accompany the eg-1? Are the taste profiles very different from each other so worth having both? Contemplating getting a key
