1993 Gary Baker Memorial Part 3 - I hosted this gathering.
I painted the watercolor and gouache portrait of Gary B as an angel. Gary Baker 's sister, who was a pediatric AIDS nurse, and nursed Gary at the end as we did hospice for him in his apartment. We started in my apartment and moved to the party room in the building I managed at the time. Astrid made that gorgeous jacket for Gary that Phillipp was holding. For his memorial Gary's sister Vickie baked an over-the-top beautiful cake. Steve & Sal brought Steve's young niece, Amy, and her beau at the time, Val, as they were visiting from Florida. Astrid, Flo and many of Gary's close friends and family came.

Gary Baker passed away from AIDS in 1993. His bestie, Philipp and P's partner Robert held a memorial party to give away Gary's art. I didn't take any because Gary had given me lots over the years. It's wonderful to see his art and his friends again.

Altho I did not take my camera up the mountain, and good thing cuz it was all ice, I did capture a few glimpses. This is the basis for the infamous story of how I got Carole down one icy run, by getting her to do one turn at a time - to get to me, and I rewarded her with M&M peanuts. This is all raw footage. Halloween in SF 92, starts at my apt. bldg then moves to pre-party at Lucia's - with Alan, Carole, Janna, Lucia and me and others (we don't remember their names) - then we go on to Lichen's art studio.
I always used to say "Jesus es mi novio" and at this party Carole brought him over to me. He told me he loved me, pretty sure he says that to everyone. lol He was beautiful.
Brainwash was a San Francisco bar and laundromat!
