Assembling a fused glass plate with glass stringers
In this video I show the time-lapsed assembling of the plate in which I use glass stringers. In this plate I used leftovers of previous projects, but you can make it from scratch using instructions provided in this book: www.gamesofcolors.com/store/p734/E-book_%22Weekend_projects%3A_Stringers_in_glass_fusing._Part_III.html

Coral plate from scratch. A glass fusing project for beginners.
Переглядів 8455 місяців тому
This video demonstrates the full process of making coral plates - one of the projects popular among novice glass fusers. This is a real custom order, and the selected colors and the pattern match the interior of the room where this plate is located now. The planning stage and some details are missing in the video for the simplicity. Instructions for a similar project (but more spectacular!) Are...

Fused glass candle holders - all the steps.

In this video I presented the process of making two fused glass candle holders. The key technique is glass draping. The shape of candle holders is handkerchief. The surface is decorated with tiny colorful hearts. These hearts and pink-red colors make the candle holders a great Valentine gift. I added some clarifying comments, but detailed instructions are included in my upcoming e-book "Addicti...

Also, we presented a series of works in which we tried to implement fabric patterns in glass. These are glass plates imitating Ikat and Tartan. Of course, we were serving our customers, whose requests were chall...
Glass Frit: to make or to buy

    I like this guy. Thanks for thorough explanations. I wonder if making some Prince Rupert drops and breaking the tails in a bucket of water. It would be taking keen advantage of the free energy stored in the stress of the drop. The potential energy stored within the drop will be used to achieve the primary goal, in this rare instance However all the benefits of purchasing frit mentioned in this video is obviously the best choice if its within your budget.

    cough cough... we glassblowers invented the concept of a bubble squeeze fellow silica lover ;) for when we melted the batch into the glass initially. often gas bubbles will become trapped in the middle level of the glass puddle. you squeeze them upwards. been done for very much longer than kilncraft my friend,

    so in glassblowing, we have whats called an optic mold. its an ice cream cone shaped mold with various fin patterns facing inward. you blow a bubble into it, and the bubble takes the pattern, and thats how glass is fluted. if you do that, then reheat and twist the bubble until its all smooth, you get a twisted color pattern. if you started with this chevron pattern fusing as a rollup, and then twisted the color pattern in the above manner, i bet it would be amazing. i might have to get one of these, gives me tons of ideas.

    if you do get large chunks of scrap like that off pot melts or similar again definitely let me know. these can be attached to a solid pipe and melted fully then made into rods or smoothed out into crudely formed sheets for further kiln use.

  • @joshschneider9766
    @joshschneider9766 4 місяці тому

    also i think with cutting it in half you might have missed an opportunity to show off both sides of the melt. it might have been cool to flip one half over and show the alternate and then fire that back together as one homogenous piece. super cool either way though. really impressive success from defeat no matter what, and cutting it in half at all was pretty gutsy.

    with the scraps from cutting the ellipse do a melt into a brick shape and ill pull it into longer thinner rods and you can have some sweet unique reddish murrine. great save. ive been inspired to find a bunch of very similar stainless baking trays. i have a ton of pattern ideas from this. thanks for sharing, liked and subbed for sure! again, many compliments. great save indeed.

    hi, can I know the fire schedule for dropping the glass?

    • @gamesofcolors
      @gamesofcolors 5 місяців тому

      The answer is not easy because there are many dependencies. You may use any slumping schedule but set the soak time at the top temperature to several hours. You cannot leave it unattended, and must babysit as soon as it gets the top temperature. I explained all details in this book: www.gamesofcolors.com/store/p839/E-book_%22Addiction_to_glass_fusing%22.html
