Uploading weird and unusual stuff I find, most often on VHS. Also uploading recorded content like commercials sometimes, but mostly stuff I find interesting like local stuff or promos.
If anyone has any suggestions as how to better rip tapes (besides buying a capture card that is), please let me know. I only use a very simple I-O Data GV-USB2 capture device to VirtualDub to Handbrake method, so any further tips would be much appreciated.

World University Games Buffalo '93 (Universiade) [1993]
The World Comes to Buffalo '93
World University Games Buffalo '93 Commemorative Tape
1993
Rich Stadium/University of Buffalo/etc., Buffalo, NY
The World University Games, also known as Universiade internationally, is basically the Olympics for university athletes. Held since 1959, the Games switch between Summer and Winter editions, and, unlike the Olympics, are held annually. 1993 is currently the only year the Summer Universiade has been held in the United States. This here is a highlight reel of the opening ceremony (officially opened by then-president Bill Clinton), competitions, and closing ceremony produced by local CBS-affiliate WIVB-TV with commentary and interludes by the anchors at the time. The United States took home the gold with 31 gold and 73 total medals with 2nd and 3rd place going to China (17, 28) and Canada (11, 38).

I really have to say that watching this is very homey and uplifting, and not just because it's one of the few things of note that have taken place in Buffalo since the early 80's. These games take place within what I call the sweet-spot of recent history: after the end of the Cold War and dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and before the September 11th attacks and the beginning of the War on Terror. Everyone seems so happy and optimistic about there finally being a world where everyone can live in harmony. Sounds pretty stupid when you put it that way, but it feels as if worry and fear was at an all-time low. I dunno, I liked it anyway (aside from the super longass intro).

Getting started with WebTV Instructional video 1998 The lightest, cheapest, shittiest VHS ever One of Microsoft's less talked about and ultimately flawed ventures, this thin client and online service combo introduced many people to the wonders of the internet back in the late-90s and early-2000s while still offering them a wide variety of televsion channels. Переглядів 756 років тому
Patrick Gallivan successfully ran for Erie County Sheriff in 1997 after a 15-year career in the New York State Police, and held that position until 2005. In 2010, he ran and won the 59th district seat in the New York Senate which he currently holds. The ad just cuts off like that so the editing must have just been bad.

8:48 wow that station wagon was pushing it with the times. Was actually still relevant and modern then but at the very end of its modern lifespan, you don’t see station wagons anymore.
You could argue that any of the mid sized SUVs are station wagons. I know my Dad’s last station wagon of the three we had was a Buick Electra with a Wildcat engine. Big, roomy with really comfy seats.

@4:29 ZEHRS DETECTED! I knew KW would show up in this video at some point! @7:41 Corner of King and Queen, the mini mart is long gone and is a Timmies now, the camera would have been setup in front of the Walper Hotel. @9:25 The CIBC is still there, obv. they wanted to avoid the walper.

John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus Christ saves repent and follow him today . Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today.

HAHA this was my first experience with the internet in my place in 98'. My mom had bought her 1st PC that year and I was going over there a lot so I bought this while I built my 1st PC buying parts when I could afford them. WOW, how times have changed with the internet over the years.
0:01, This Babe Taps Her Hair, and Gives Us a Beautiful Smile
I wonder if they knew back then that the internet would go on to be about 80% porn and fetish sites...lol
That's what I used WebTV for... Although at the time video streaming was worse than 144 quality on UA-cam. Not worth using. Pictures loaded okay though but could take 30 seconds to load a big photo as Webtv used dial up. But yeah, there was plenty of adult content at that time.
I did not know Expedia was that old. Wow.
