The Radio Team Kit is so important to establishing and maintaining communications in the field. You have to plan for every possibility and have the tools and materials on hand to solve problems as they arise. One item that I previously took out of my kit and forgot to mention for this video, is a good Ethernet tip kit and crimping tool. I usually keep this tool in my team kit and some spare eth...
The Baofeng UV-5R and its place in the Tactical Environment
Переглядів 46 тис.Рік тому
With ongoing debate about the Baofeng and more capable radios, I wanted to have a discussion about its suitability for tactical employment. While I make the case for this radio, I want you to understand that at the end of the day, this is simply not something that I would put my trust into with my life. Whether I'm going outdoors for adventure activities or in a tactical situation, I would want...

Today we put 6 common handheld two-way radios to the test by soaking them in water and freezing them in dry ice! Tag Garand Thumb in the comments so he can see how much better our radios did than his rifles haha. We tested: Baofeng UV-5R Anytone D878UV Motorola XPR6550 Hytera PD682i EFJohnson 5100 V4 Motorola XTS5000 I know I made a comment at the end that the baofeng survived, I should have sa...

How to get a GMRS License in less than 10 minutes!
Переглядів 51 тис.2 роки тому
In this video we go step-by-step through how to apply for a General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) License with the FCC. A GMRS license is a great tool to have because it gives you access to frequencies with high power output and the ability to use duplex repeaters on certain channels. There is no testing requirement to get your GMRS license, just a small fee. Additionally, the license is good for...
Radio Roadmap for Tactical Civilians
Переглядів 45 тис.2 роки тому
A couple things I want to address here in the description: I would not encourage anyone to toss out their Baofeng radio. These radios are a great tool for learning about comms and how comms works. It can be a really affordable way to get your friends interested in comms. At the end of the day, mission dictates equipment. Just because a radio is expensive, doesn't mean that it is the best to sui...

Hey dude we’re can I find one off these I really need it for next month for when I go to Puerto Rico plz sell me one
I wanna buy one plz sell me one really need it for when I go to Puerto Rico
New to the DMR here. Do these radios TX/RX on GMRS UHF channels and, if so, are they repeater capable, or are they completely different animals?
Link to buy?
Satellite comms are the new crazy now
Can your location be track when transmitting
1 000 usd
Good information. I just had to laugh when saying connecting a 1k headset to a $30 radio. I honestly hope people aren't usokng $1,000 headsets lol
where'd he get his shirt? that flannel is 10/10
Hello, I have a question, what laptop is that on your label
So can you tell me what justifies the astronomical price tag compared for example to the Baofeng DM-1701that that sells for $90, i would argue the build quality, the gps and bluetooth are good enough reason for it to cost 7 times more
If you buy a $90 radio, be prepared for $90 results
DUDE, After accidentally creating three different FRN numbers I finally stumbled across your video. You made it easy. Was getting upset with the whole mess. Thanks so much!
Glad it helped!
Beyond happy, I just found this channel got licensed in may and bought a yaesu vx6r tri band banger, ended up landing a FED job and seen dudes using DMR alot and I believe that will be my next purchase not sure of brand yet. But thank you so much for what you are doing and the level of professionalism you have. My dad was stationed at 29 for awhile.....have a good day devil dog
Great info, thanks for the help!
Awesome video! I was racking my brain until I found your video.
Thank you!! Couldn't have been any easier!
The intro music and camera work caught my attention, and your breakdown was very informative. Two thumbs up.
How did the stubby antennae impact your range?
Thanks man it was very helpful.
What hytera model can offer dual band?
why do some people use two different radios to build their repeater box, and how. are you running it with only 1?
Stupid Question: How can one use a ham radio amongst a practice tactical team when you need a license to push the button?
While this was very useful in trying to navigate the insane FCC site, i offer 2 comments.... 1. please show the SCREEN as large as possible as that is more important than seeing you / your surroundings, and 2.what you don't say / show is how you have to create a login for the FCC site and THEN it shows the screens you have. Overall, thank you very much!
Awesome you made the process go by so much faster and easier just to follow. They updated the page a little bit but it's still the same as your video. But one question why was your 70 bucks and mine was 35 did they just lower the fees? Or did I click the wrong one
they lowered the fees
@MojaveRepeater oh wow great! That's a big difference..Great thanks!
I would like to get your take on a Bear tooth.
Very helpful video. Thanks!
I'm waiting on my Battlefang UV5RH to be delivered....
Good morning, I play airsoft and as you know we use radios for communication between the various teams even if we obviously don't need professional devices. Baofengs are currently very popular and I'm satisfied with them, but I don't like the Kenwood connector because even though they use military-type PTTs, they often get ruined. I would like to try a Motorola type system that attaches with screws, but the prices are too high for me. They told me that Hytera uses the same standard, but I'm totally ignorant. Can you recommend a model that has this type of PTT connection, that doesn't cost a fortune and that can be used with the radios we use in this sport (baofeng and midland)? Thanks in advance
The baofeng UV82 uses a screw down multipin type connector you should be able to find a PTT for it. Not the same connector as a Motorola
@@MojaveRepeater I bought a Baofeng UV-9R Pro which has this type of connector. Let's see how it goes.
Ran across this recently. I have most of the same equipment you list here. I'd recommend ditching the apple headphones though for just a pair of Samsung or generics. No matter what it is, the blinding white of Apples stuff draws the eye. Even better would be if you can use a Bluetooth headset, although then you run the risk of someone interrupting the Bluetooth signal. Also, for the radio antenna. You could use a longer antenna if you used a cable to extend it. you could run it up the front or rear strap of the ready rig. Love seeing vid's like this. Always bring a few good ideas to make things better.
Thank you for the assistance.
What the range on the dtr700
I got 11km clear line of sight with these radios but don’t expect that kind of range in all scenarios
Amazing! Thank you so much. The FCC website is so convoluted. I was lost.
Any plans on another DARC course?
add a DC in plug, like an XT60 or something so we can slap a solar panel/voltage regulator on it and leave it for a few months
great job
Do you get to create your own call sign? Or is one provided for you?
ua-cam.com/channels/yRGsbwgVp2IQwRwCoIducw.html
I love field phones
I'd wait for a few years until chinese digital HTs are as dirty cheap as boofwang radios and there'd be a lot of sad hams screaming again
It would have been better if the pages were full screen instead of you occupying half of it. Sorry to say.
Hams are just LARPERS with piggy noses.. 🫵🐖🐷🐽😂. So much for FCC fan Bois.. 1st Amendment says otherwise. ITS ROGER BEEP TIME ! 🤩🤣😜
please stop drinking lead contaminated water.
Cool repeater build, loved the scenic shots of the old deuce nasty too!
Thanks going to register soon and this video cleared some confusion up for me.
Can I set up the repeater radios to daisychain from one repeater to the next to the next and reverse it?
Probably a dumb question but can the EFJohnsons and Motorola XTS be set up to interoperate with encryption?
Kudos to you guys. This is something very needed. No disrespect to them but the HAMs are gatekeepers who insist on maintaining and preserving their "culture" first and foremost. I dont blame them per se but its a lot of chaff to dig thru
*PLEASE!!! For the love of God and all that is good and holy in this world! Don’t stop making these videos!*
The only problem i have with baoefeng is finding a reliable place to buy them(safely).
HA! 29 Palms, eh? Was there my whole Marine Corps career. Good ol' Stumps...oorah.
Me too Semper Fi
@@MojaveRepeater Nice! Semper fi! Kinda miss it out there in some ways. Keep up the great work. Will be watching. 👍
Thank you! 🙏
Government websites are the worst thanks 😂
