I encountered a similar issue with the 'standalone HTTP server' option in pfSense 2.7 In my case, it wasn't working either. However, I found a workaround by manually configuring DNS entries. If you'd like, I can walk you through the steps I followed to set it up manually

@@cybernetwold usind DNS manual work but ther is an other problem: automatic renewal does not work. During automatic renewal appear this message: The dns manual mode can not renew automatically, you must issue it again manually. You'd better use the other modes instead.
