Logitech Z-5500 faded LCD display fix
All of a sudden the LCD display of my Logitech Z-5500 speaker set stopped working. The unit itself was working just fine. The background lighting also worked fine, I just couldn't read the digits anymore. In this video I explain my quick fix to this problem.

Building the Geekcreit DIY Fidget Spinner kit

I saw Edifred2007 building this and he was using a lot of solder to get the ball bearing sticking in place (ua-cam.com/video/Xj1foAt6_S8/v-deo.html), so I decided to try to weld it onto the board. I realized that the copper lanes on the board were probably too thin, but I gave it a try anyway. This video shows how I failed. :) The kit came without instructions, so I also mounted the second acry...
Repairing an 80's style handheld LCD game (Plane & Tank)
Переглядів 9 тис.6 років тому
I've played many hours on this device back in the 80's. Recently I found it, while cleaning up and found that it was not working anymore. In this video I'll try to repair it and see if it still works after more than 25 years. The idea of this game is that you move your tank to the left and right and cross the bridge at the right. If you've done that, a new tank appears at the left. One you move...

I bought this USB charger (from Banggood for about 7 dollars) because I have single 18650 Li-ion cells which I need to charge sometimes. Motospeed CK108 review - Mechanical RGB Keyboard with blue switches

In this video I will build the Christmas Tree kit from Banggood, which is listed as: "Geekcreit® DIY Star Effect 3D LED Decorative Christmas Tree Kit". Finishing the rotating cross led dot matrix DIY kit - no happy end

In this video I finish the rotating cross led dot matrix diy kit. Although it is finished and most of the kit is working (after fixing some issues), it is not displaying images. In this video I will also tell a bit a...
Adding a switch to the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins without a pull-up or pull-down resistor
Переглядів 3,3 тис.6 років тому
Normally, if you don't use a pull-up or pull-down resistor, the input pin will be in a "floating" state. Which means, that the processor is not able to tell if it is connected to a power source (up) or ground (down). In fact, the wire might even act as an antenna and therefore the state can be either up or down. In this video I show you how to use the internal pull-up or pull-down resistors, ju...

In this case probably not, because the watch did not get warmer than usual. There are wireless chargers however, which do make the phone or watch very hot. In that case, the battery will degrade faster.

Thanks for not editing this too much! I feel like a bot when soldering, but you seem to solder just fine and also fumble the materials a bit. This makes me feel like I can do this as well, and now I have. Thank you for the motivation and the clear explanation!

So, my question is, when i put the pins in, do i need to like cut them shorter or just not push it in all the way? Cause mine pertrudes more on the soldering end... or did i get a wrong size or something? Hopefully this can be answered relatively soon 😢

    • @basvandersluis5662

Don't apply any force on the pins. Just put in the pins (as show on the thumbnail of this video) with the short side through the board and solder them. No need to cut anything, if you have the same pin header as I do.

Little bit oldish video, but I want to say big thanks, this saved me from lots of frustration with programming 12f629. First, I needed to get one of these janky clones, because there is apparently a bug with T48 programmers/software and 12f629 and it isn't possible to program it currently on those. I also tried with one old RS232 JTAG programmer, but that also failed. So project was on hold when I waited one of these clones and adapters to arrive and today I got one. I got the same type of voltage errors, but thanks to you it was a breeze to solve!

I bet the magnetic field N and S are both on the front (one pole in center, another for the metal shell. So the field doesn't reach out very far. They actually make magnets like this so the field doesn't penetrate much.

Amazing tutorial, thanks a lot! I think I did a great job, solderings look really good, just really thin tin coverings on the pins. I felt that it is important to really have that 370°C, then just touch the pin, not the board, just touch tin on the board-pin connection and it immediately attaches nicely. The first two attempts did not work so nicely, because my soldering iron was not hot enough - ** I believe a hot tip really is key**. First time soldering two Pi Zeros and it took me roughly 5 min per board.

The ethernet module uses the SPI interface/bus, he never explains this. Also, be sure to add an AS1117 (3.3v to 5v booster breakout board) so that the board can draw a bit more micro-amps, it really needs about 200 micro-amps to work consistently at load. Will it work at 3.3v, yes, but if you push the module, it will error out. The AS1117 uses 5v in, GND, and out is 3.3v... but the 3.3v it returns has a higher micro-amp capacity then the 3.3v direct from the Pi GPIO 3.3v pin.

    • @basvandersluis5662
      @basvandersluis5662 9 місяців тому

It won't help. If you are not from Amsterdam, you need to get used on how to act in traffic over there. It differs from the rest of the country. You just need to go and be confident that you have right-of-way. Just bike on and they will stop, because they see and feel that you know what you are doing. This works for almost all traffic, except trams and taxi's.
