2025 A Fragment of Your Imagination Challenge (FYIC): Days 9 - 12
Good Morning! Today we'll need our third pre-strung mosaic tile and a Bijou tile (or computer paper or sketchbook). We will be filling in our mosaic tile step-by-step.
Mosaic tile #3 had lots of drama, but not so much shading today. This one goes pretty quickly, and you have some options for which direction you'd like to go in.
Before we begin, a BIG thank you to Seven Forests Five Rivers for putting together this challenge! Debbie, Ildica, and Nina, you all rock!
To get your free copy of the 2025 FYIC packet with daily prompts, you can visit their newsletter here: us20.campaign-archive.com/?u=da046f9cd3e267027c7c166f0&id=2ebfeb7140
I'm looking forward to completing Tile #4 because then we'll have a complete set of four mosaic tiles. Yay!
With Love & Light,
Nana
Recommended Supplies: 1 pre-strung 3.5" x 3.5" white Zentangle® tile, a black pen, a #2 pencil, a tortillon, a Bijou tile, and a nickel or a dime.

Hello, hello, hello! Today we'll need our second pre-strung mosaic tile. Again, we'll practice on a Bijou tile, and then fill in our mosaic tile step-by-step. We'll also do some shading and blending, and we will leave room for some extras later. Before we begin, a BIG thank you to Seven Forests Five Rivers for putting together this challenge! Now that we have our mosaic tiles, we can begin to explore the fragments. Days 1 - 4 are an interesting group. First, we'll practice on a Bijou tile, and then fill in our mosaic tile step-by-step. We'll also do some shading and blending. However, we will be leaving room for more embellishment later. And even though we are adding contrast, we want to think ahead to what colors we want to finish ...

2025 Tangle of the Week 1: Auraknot
Переглядів 38716 годин тому
Happy New Year, my friends! For the first project of the year, we will work with basic materials and techniques. Using just paper, a pen, and a pencil we will master Auraknot by Zentangle®. You can choose any number of "points," but I will be using six points to make a star. While the tangle calls to mind the Celtic knot, you will not need any extra tools or supplies. Just take it step-by-step,...

Happy New Year! I'm so happy to be here tangling in the New Year with you! 2024 was a year of challenges and transformation. Let's hope 2025 brings wonderment and good will. This New Year's project features just two tangles! Add in a little color and your personal word of the the year and you are all set for an amazing 2025. Confession: At the time I filmed this demo, I did not yet have a word ...
Tangle of the Week 52: Well Well Who
Переглядів 43314 днів тому
Well, this is it my friends. It's Week #52, and this is our last Tangle of the Week project for 2024. Where did the time go? Together we've learned 52 tangles. Additionally, we've learned about shading and blending. We've used colored pencils and gel pens. Today we are keeping it simple with basic materials and an optional red pen and colored pencil. Although Well Well Who by Zentangle® looks c...
Advent Tangles 2024 Day 24: Sand Swirl

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! As luck would have it, my schedule prevented me from making this demo last night, so I'm a bit tardy. Thus, we're keeping it simple, but elegant today with a holiday heart. This project makes a wonderful gift tag (or an awesome Valentine's Day card, if you are thinking ahead). Use your favorite holiday colors or not, there are lots of choices here...

Well, my friends, it's getting down to the wire. There's only one more day of my Impromptu Advent Tangles left after today. So we're going to pack several tangles into this little project. No worries though. Using our basic tools and a little bit of metallic gel pens, we'll create a very different Christmas tree wrapped in its own ribbon. You will have a lot of options here as far as adding col...
Advent Tangles 2024 Day 22: Cruffle
Переглядів 47921 день тому
Happy Holidays! I've been waiting all month to feature the tangle, Cruffle by Sandy Hunter, CZT, in a project, so here it is. Our simple, but elegant, Flux wreath needs some ornaments, and Cruffle is an excellent choice. Glitter gel pens will make our ornaments sparkle. This project is perfect for beginners, so if you're new here and have been wanting to try this out, now is the perfect time. W...
Advent Tangles 2024 Day 21: Printemps

Hello! Hello! Today we'll be doing something a little bit different. We'll deviate from using tiles and use a larger piece of cold press watercolor paper to make bookmarks! These make great gifts, and you can easily mail them in an old fashioned Christmas card. (If you still send them like I do.) Since this demo is a few minutes longer than our usual projects, feel free to pause and take some t...
Advent Tangles 2024 Day 20: Pangea and Mrth
Переглядів 69321 день тому
As we continue our exploration of reticula and fragments, we will look at my favorite pair: Pangea and Mrth by Zentangle®. These two were made for each other. Although you can fill Pangea with other fragments, somehow I always gravitate to Mrth. I love how organic the process is with this combination, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. We'll stick to our basic materials with this Earth in...

Ugh, technology. We can't live without it these days. However, sometimes things don't go exactly as planned, and that was true with this demo. I lost the first take due to a technical problem. And so, here is the redo of my Introduction to Fragments & Reticula featuring two tiles. This demo is more practical than my other Advent projects. However, the concepts of fragments and reticula are supe...
Advent Tangles 2024 Day 18 (and Tangle of the Week 51): Purk
Переглядів 33721 день тому
Happy Wednesday! Earlier this year I had already planned to feature Purk as an ornament sometime in December for the Tangle of the Week series. So here it is. It's also our Day 18 Advent tangle. Purk makes the loveliest ornament. We'll add in a little greenery in the form of Verdigogh for a festive touch. This project looks great in the original black and white with subtle shading, but adding o...
Advent Tangles 2024 Day 16: Hibred and Day 17: Cyme

Happy Monday! The next two tangles pair well together in a Zendala project. Since this is a two-in-one tile, this is a longer demo. Feel free to do half on Monday and the second half on Tuesday. With Hibred by Zentangle®, we have a wonderful "woven" tangle full of texture. It makes an awesome border. Working in the round does have it's challenges, and it takes a little longer to set up the proj...

Very cool when you put them together, enjoying what you composed!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It's always so cool putting the tiles together. Then later we get to mix and match. Thanks for continuing to watch. I really appreciate you❣
Love this one!
Thank you!
I made a mistake. I saw the FYIC for Days 5-8, but it was for 2024. I had not filled in everything when I found the set for 2025, those same 5-8 days. So, my mosaic tile has both sets in it. Quite interesting. I must shade and blend it all now.
Oh, dear! First, there are no mistakes here. As Bob Ross might say, "Only happy accidents." Second, you got to learn extra fragments & tangles. Yay! How cool is that? ❤ I'm guessing it looks great too.
Yes, I do like to erase the extraneous pencil marks. My kneaded eraser works well for that purpose. It sort of "cleans things up."
Kneaded erasers are awesome❣
I absolutely love this tile and your wonderful way of teaching! I can’t wait to create this piece and the other 51 that you have promised- Although I don’t want the year to fly, I will look forward to sharing the year with you in tangles! Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year! It's going to be fun. We'll learn 52+ tangles and more. Thank you for tangling along.
I like how you are drawing this fragments , i started a mandala , but i am going to do something like this because i love it . Thanks for sharing your work . Happy creative year
I'm so glad you are enjoying it. Thank you for being here. Happy New Year❣
Thank you for sharing this 52 week adventure with your followers. I love this ZenTangle for week 1.
Thank you! I'm so glad you are here!
I really enjoyed the string you came up with! I am late starting the challenge too. I did the first three days and then saw your 1st video.
As long as we are having fun and learning something new, I think we're fine starting anytime. Thanks for joining us!
I am really loving the way you are doing the fragments. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. I am going to try and put my tiles together and work along with you. It is different but doesn't seem to be complicated. Thank you again.
Thank you! I'm glad you are joining us on this challenge. Just take it step-by-step and pause if you need to. I am packing 4 days into one, so please take your time and enjoy! ❤
I like how you're putting it together!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you❣
I'd like to do this in my sketchbook, can you tell me what the size of each individual tile is? Actually, can you also tell me the measurements of both inside squares? I will then be able to figure out the rest myself, Thanks so much!
Sure, I will try. The original white tiles are 3.5" x 3.5" When you tape 4 of them together to make a larger square, that larger square is 7" x 7" on the outside. In the large square, we draw 2 squares: the first is 4.25" x 4.25" & the second is 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" (so just under 3"x3"). I hope that helps.
@@TangledTimeArts Huge help, thanks so much!!!
You are certainly talented when it comes to putting patterns together for being able to complete a tile that feels whole and pleasing to study and enjoy. I appreciate your creativity. Also, it is nice that these are weekly exercises. I don't have to complete the tile in one sitting. That is a bit of a relief. I can take things at my own pace. Thanks.
Thank you so much! And Happy New Year! Absolutely...feel free to take a pause and do these at your own pace. Weekly is nice for me too; it's just right. ❤
I normally don’t like “poke leaf”/poke root but it looks great here. You paired it well with Aura Knot. Thank you for sharing Happy New Year
Thank you. I only use pokeleaf & root now & then, but somehow it worked out well. Happy New Year! ❤
Love the tile, good start for the New Year! Sure added a lot when you inked in the stems!!! Thanks for sharing!
I think I like the stems inked in too; it add some drama/contrast to the tile. It would look great colored in too. 💖
When you said pokeleaf to add. I thought REALLY? But it turned out good. Clearly i have alot to learn. 😊 Thank you fot teaching. ❤
It is an interesting combination, but I like it. I'm always learning too! 😀
I am so delighted to have found your channel. Enjoying the adventure tangles…..post Christmas.
I'm so glad you landed here to join us. It's fun to do Christmas themed tangles anytime of the year. 😀
Thank you, going to try this one.
Yay! I hope you enjoy it.
What a wonderful way to start the new year. I am with you--so happy 2024 is in my rear view mirror. I was not able to "tangle along" during this first viewing, but hope to do so in the future. My word for 2025 will be appreciate/appreciation. To that end, I so appreciate how you take the time to explain exactly what you are doing and to give variations. I am going to try to appreciate all the wonderful crafty items I already own and not buy into the latest trends. Wish me luck!
Thank you so much!. This is a longer demo, but only two tangles. What an awesome choice for your 2025 word! I'm going to borrow it to say how much I appreciate you too. Yes, using what you already have is wonderful. Sometimes you end up with amazing surprises. ❤
I’ve just discovered you channel. LOVE your tangling and teaching style! .
Welcome! I'm so glad you are joining us. ❤
Happy New Year! First time watching and absolutely loved the tile. I have not seen those and look forward to trying them out. Thank you again and will watch more.
Happy New Year❣I'm so glad you are here, & I hope you keep watching.
Happy New Year! Thank you for always sharing such beautiful tiles!!!! I appreciate you and love your channel!
Wishing you a healthy, Happy New Year! I'm so happy you are a part of this creative journey with me. You inspire me to keep making videos. Thank you❣

Amazing what little orbs can create! A beautiful tangle.
Yes, I agree! Thank you!
Ohh! Love the new design for sand swirl! My hearts always come out lopsided 😄
Thank you! My hearts often turn out lopsided too; those are my favorite. 💖
This was crazy fun, but you made it so doable. 😍
Thanks for tangling along!
That is a really gorgeous tangle, I can't wait to draw it, your step by step instructions are perfect...thank you! That colorful pencil is wonderful, I'm in Canada without a Blick near but will look for one in local art stores, thanks for showing how it works, I love it!!! Happy New Year to you and yours!
Hi, in Canada you can find the multi color pencil sold individually at Deserres art stores. It's so fun to do entire tangles with it.
Happy New Year! I have randomly seen the pencils at office supply stores too. My favorite brand is Koh-I-Noor tri-tone colored pencils or their magic jumbo multicoloured pencils. Both are so much fun, & it's a surprise every time. 💖
@@janeavery9491 Thank you for the information! These pencils are a lot of fun! 😀
@@TangledTimeArts Thank you!
@@TangledTimeArts I find when I try to color with them it turns a bit too muddy but I love doing just the line work part of the tangles with these pencils, it turns out so pretty!

Hi! I really like that you created the Zentangle in real time! No speeding up or cutting the video. Great experience! 😊
I'm so glad to hear it. Thank you for tangling along❣
So adorable wreath !

I like it. Very doable for me. Thank you for real-time instructions and no music. A very pleasant channel. ❤

This is very cute! Thanks for sharing.

So magical I love it!

Beautiful tangle ! And so relaxing to achieve.
Thank you❣
That came out wonderful, I think the red marks look like a rope connecting each one. This has been so fun. Thank you again.
Yes, I can see that too! This was so much fun. Thank you! 💖
This was so interesting. Somehow I didn’t get my points going the right way and my stars are all pointing to the left instead of to the top….but what fun, and a great lesson. Thank you.
There are patterns within patterns within patterns. Perhaps you found another one. So many possibilities. ❤
that was amazing. thank you
Thank you!
As often as ii follow along, at some point my pen takes off & something unique present .... ty.
Yay! That's awesome! 💖
Loved it!
Thank you for keeping with the season for this Advent Tangle. It is fun to see the different ways you present your work, and with sparkle added bonus.
Thank you so much! I'm happy you are here tangling with us this season. 💖
Very pretty. You made it easy to get 6 points. Thank you❤
Yay! I'm so glad. 😀
Really cool patterns. Thank you for sharing
Thank you!
You have a magnificent knack for presenting various patterns to explore during this festive season. What a joy that is to see in this turbulent world of ours. Your examples are very fun and festive. This one is something that I really am enjoying as I draw and paint it. I want to tell you about a new (to me) watercolor pigment that I added to my palette (Daniel Smith's Quinacridone Rose). It is so vibrant. Also what I like about your teaching style: you encourage us to make choices that suit us. Well, I chose to put a bow with ribbon ties at the top of the ornament. And, I used the bands going around the ornament as ribbon motifs. I put those in that Quinacridone Rose. The ovals will be altering between purple and green. I had too wide spaces between my ovals, so that is where I placed orbs. Those will be in a vibrant yellow as will the ornament's holder at the very top. You are certainly talented and an inspiration such that I am able to continue with this project. Twenty-four patterns in as many days can be a bit daunting. I am happy that I have a goal to work toward so that I can say with a heart full of love and joy that I completed this for my daughter. Many thanks to you!
I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying this series. I truly appreciate your feedback. My goal is to incorporate different tile shapes and colors and various tangles and techniques, so that we can all learn something new each day of Advent while having fun too. The colors you describe sound awesome, especially the Rose. That is a beautiful color, and Daniel Smith watercolors are fantastic! Enjoy! Thank you for joining me on this creative journey. Many Blessings. 💖
This work today was amazing….Thank you so much.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I added the 2nd layer of lines to that inner triangle. I actually liked the way the whole thing looked before I did that part. But . . . another time!
Oh well, sometimes that's the best way to learn. If you don't tell anyone, they'll never know. And remember, "There's no mistakes!" 💖
That was crazy fun. Give your puppy a hug and an extra treat.
Thank you! And Benji says 'thank you' for the extra treat!
So pretty! Love the Christmas lights boarder
Thank you❣
