Makes sense, I think more copies of Mirrex/Fountainport work out to replace the Mutavaults and then just the Standard RB lands. Maybe worth looking at Fabled Passage as it'll help out if you're playing Blazemire Verge and also enables Fatal Push.

Seems cool to try but quite expensive. Might be better in an Insidious Roots build where you have access to more mana.

I've played it a bit in Timeless with Detective Phoenix and Nethergoyf, but haven;t tried it in Historic yet. Plannig to do a video on the Historic version in a few weeks I think.

Seems good, there are definitely match ups where the claim/games are pretty dead.

Easier to compete in Historic for sure, but DRC gets much worse without Bauble, and not having fetches makes Ox a lot worse. Wanted to try it in Timeless, but like you say would be better in Historic.

I mention it at the time, but instead choose to play a creature out. There's a chance to hit a pair of cats but its incredibly low, would rather try and buy a turn and see another card.

Good shout, its a little vulnerable but might try a UB version with that til we get Days Undoing.

I think this build is good, but it can be slow setting up. I think the fastest build of Dredge is UB, and with the current staleness of Pioneer/Explorer I'd suggest that. There's also a very strong Insidious Roots deck that doesn't play the 'dredge' pieces.

Unsure how good Jeskai Ascendancy would be with the current state of Modern, but Aspiring Spike has done pretty well with the Otters in Wizards and other decks.

Typhoon is awkward for sure but I don't love the white splash. I've been thinking about splashing Green to play Wilderness Reclamation and that also gives you access to some nice life gain options. If there was a way we could reduce the mana cost of Approach like Mindsplice Apparatus that would be interesting, but its very awkward in Timeless.

All the 3s this deck plays you are hoping to play for 1 mana, so Chandra is raising the curve by a decent amount and is pretty clunky. Could be a decent sideboard card, but it locks you out of Jegantha too so I don't think its work it.

@@tr3vtcg The main benefit is when you have 3 lands, chandra and a 1 drop (including spectacle) you play chandra, add the red, dump your hand, now you are topdecking but you basically draw 2 per turn with chandra, you are right that it locks you out of jegantha which is a negative but I seem to be fine running 18 lands and hitting 3+ lands, partly the b01 smoother but also running sets of luts and ancestral, it feels like the modern prowess deck in that respect where you run 17 lands but usually still get to 3+

While yes you can get to 3 mana regularly, its still a liability. Its probably a fine sideboard card vs control and other slow decks, but is too punishing to have in the main when the 3 best decks are Amalia, Phoenix and Vampires where it doesn't make any impact.

@@tr3vtcg Do you think your list is still the best build? Tbh I've been trying different combinations of lots of different cards and not sure what is best for the final few slots like skewer, ancestral, reckless impulse haha

This is Explorer which is Arena's Pioneer equivalent, so it isn't legal unfortunately. Even for some of the older Arena formats a 3 mana creature is pretty slow, and the deck nulifies creature removal otherwise.

Yeah tough one. Going to have a play around with the Goblin stuff and maybe revisit it for a video if there's a build I like that works. The Bombardment/Nightmare stuff almost certainly has a home, but on the Stitchers Supplier side of things rather than with Goblins.

It's not a lot of damage overall, in theory you could play a Surveil land but this deck curves 1-3 most of the time and if you ever draw it early you're in trouble.The main reasons to play them are shuffling cards you've mulligan-ed away, and thinning to ensure you draw less lands later vs control decks. You could totally cut them if you don't like them.

There's some potential there, but it's diluting the decks main game plan. Part of the idea here is not to play any early mana creatures that die to bolt/push, and not have that as a vulnerability. Rhythm is nice, but really hard to cast, and expensive for the effect. Cavern is the way to go for 'cant be countered' or you could with Sneak attack for hasty Eldrazi.

It's a 2 mana rock to play off of Labyrinth, that then taps for Colourless for Devourer and also Green if you need it for Channel/Once/Worldbreaker. It does seem a bit of an odd choice, but I just want a critical mass of 2 mana rocks. And playing it over cold steel heart because it can tap for Colourless.

If you want to play the big Eldrazi I like this a lot. That being said, Turn 1 Chalice auto-wins games so I might try and fit that in here.

There's sadly not a great way to fast track without spending money. You get a decent amount of cards from the new player experience, and maybe you can work towards a dragon deck on there. There's a decent Dragon deck in Standard, but it uses a lot of rares and mythics.

For sure! Really hope we get Mimic and Smasher in Pioneer Masters. And we're do another Anthology for Historic which could bring Temple.

Pretty well, but I'm still not settled if this is better/worse than a big ramp version. Chalice wins you a lot of games. I have a white list with some stax pieces thats out today too.

@@tr3vtcg I have seen your "not Tron" list on mtgdecks, do you think that its better? It looks pretty cool with the big eldrazis, another question, isn't the 8 cost ugin better than the one you use in that list?

8 cost Ugin is great, but the 6 mana Ugin is a bridge card to the big Eldrazi because of the cost reduction. I'm refining that list at the moment, hopefully will have recorded with it by the end of the week

99% are, but there are a couple that have some Modern potential I think.

I think it's probably solid in Historic too, but you lose Bauble and also Chalice is much worse in Historic I think. In Timeless it locks a lot of decks out completely.

Could definitely see playing a Surgical just as a free spell that also has some utility. Grave Expectations could be fine, but I've not played with heist a ton and timeless decks can have very specific archetype cards that you just don't have interest in. Definitely worth trying though!

​​@@tr3vtcg yeah, I have the same doubts about Grave Expectations. But Surgical seems very good, because as you said, it's a free spell that counts towards bringing back the phoenix and can remove some pretty nasty pieces from the opponent's deck. Maybe going Thoughtseize into Surgical is one of the best things to disrupt nasty decks. And if you already put phoenixes in the graveyard, then just another spell and you're off.
