United States
Приєднався 10 лют 2019
Fishing, hunting, camping and brewing beer. Your basic Wisconsin activities. I will have videos that cover all four of these topics but my main focus will be My new project I am calling The Mashmaker Challenge. I purchased a recipe book about two years called Mashmaker. The Author is Michael Dawson. Good guy and an excellent brewer. There are 64 recipes in this book and over the next few years I plan to brew each one in succession. Join me as I plow through the book and brew some great beers.

I fermented some cherry tomatoes and they were delicious! They pop in your mouth like that candy?
Those are tasty. I have dehydrated cherry tomatoes many times. They become very sweet tomato chips.
The zucchini chip solution is brilliant! Thank you!
You’re welcome.
Does the cat get to have any beer or fresh fish?
Fresh tuna for the cat. 😀
Have fun up there brother. What are you going to fish for? When I was up there last, about 30-35 years ago, sport fish was later in the season, and I could only crappie fish. Cheers.
We are going for walleye. It will be fun. I’ll be fishing with some cool people. Hope everything is going well with you.
Great job! I’ll be building one soon.
Excellent and good luck. Mine is still up and working very well. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
So very interesting and complicated! Good job remembering how to brew! ✌️
It’s like falling off a bike I guess. Definitely a fun hobby and you get to drink some beer afterwards.
@@themashmakerchallenge9578 yum!
That is a lot of “stuff” lol 😂
Yes. Too much stuff. Going to have a big garage sale in the future.
Welcome back and brew on!
Thank you sir. I will brew on.
Good to have you back Mashmaker. Life sometimes takes us down roads that we have to navigate on our own to get to where we need to be brother. Good to see you mashing in again. Cheers.
Thanks for watching. It’s good to be back brewing again. Cheers to you.
cheers to Nick.
Indeed
Cheers Barry! 🍻
Cheers to you also
Congrats to Paul on 200 batches. Wow, a true decoction! You guys are real troopers. Thanks for sharing Barry, it looked like a great time. Man, Paul is the real deal out there, almost like a mad scientist with all that stuff in the brew house. Hopefully you had those walleye at the party. Hope all is well and glad to see you back on camera. Talk soon. Cheers from out east.
Thanks for watching Scott. Good to hear from you. It was a fun day. Things are good out here. It’s been a busy year and I haven’t manage to brew much but I got in a couple trips so all is good. Cheers from the Midwest. If you get a chance I have another channel called 906 Dreams. Check it out. All things Upper Peninsula.
What an epic crew!! Wish I could have been there. Looked like a smashing time!! Cheers from out east!
We didn’t smash much but it was a good time. 😜😜😜
Nice video of your visit and all the things you got up to. Good to see you a couple of times too.
Always good to see you also Don O. Thanks for coming out to the party. I know it was a long drive for you but not as long as Milwaukee. 😜😜😜
You shamed me into going! j/k @@themashmakerchallenge9578
An awesome ahcievement, Paul! And the party set-up was over-the-top. Shout-out, Mrs. Snack Stick on that! And that insane buffalo fish... dayum!
Glad we were all able to attend and be a part of history.
Nicely done, Sir!
It was all for you Paul
@@themashmakerchallenge9578 Stop....you're making me blush 😊
Congrats again on an epic run of homebrewing, Mr. Snack Stick!
@ChopAndBrew Thanks Chip!
Great Vidya. Takes me back a few decades. I haven't been to the Chain of Lakes since I was 16 to fish with my cousin. He owns Olson Sports in Parker's Prairie, north of Aleck. I should go spend some time with him. We would get lost fishing for what seemed like days when I was a kid. Walleye is GREAT food. Nice haul. Enjoy. Cheers Mashmaker.
Thank you very much sir. Get out and do some fishing. Hope your brewday went well the other evening
thanks for documenting Barry. Go Snackstick!
My pleasure. Full video coming soon
Dig the rod holder.
We caught some fish.
Thanks for this inside view, Barry. I saw Chip's vids. Cool to get your perspective. Bonkers brewing techniques.
I also love to see that you're camping out.
Thanks for watching. Chips video is more polished than mine of coarse but I’m glad you enjoyed my view. I camped out because I didn’t want to spend lots of money on a hotel room. It was lots of fun.
Looks like a great adventure!
It was a pretty cool brewday. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a day.
For a moment I thought that it was our Maltose Falcons flipping the "bird".
Nope. Just the regular falcons.
Really nice to see you and the Krew . Loads to do at brewday , so next time we meet we plan for a little more social time . Skål from Voss.
It was a pleasure to meet you and Johnny. I enjoyed the weekend thoroughly. One of these day my wife and I will get to Norway to visit.
Good to see a video from you! I am sorry for the loss of your dad, but I am glad the estate settlement is behind you. Congratulations on achieving Yooperdom, albeit part-time. Bummer on the closure of the NB brick and mortar closures, but at least there is still online sales. So glad you got to meet the Norwegian contigent. How cool to see the old-school Kveik brewing process for raw ale. Thanks for sharing!
It was pretty cool. Thanks for watching Paula.
Hot Scotchie?
I did not have a hot Scotchie on this one but we did have a hot bourby. Just didn’t get it on video. Unfortunately I or nobody else brought scotch.
Oh wow man LOL🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh wow man that looks fantastic😃👍❤️
Hi sir, I just want build same like you one in my outdoor patio ..I asked outside vendors like this they priced me very expensive coat I can’t bear that Rtr amount…could you please help me sir I can ready to build one .I didn’t build anything before now I have some starting problem if you explain me like step by step process clearly sir then I can build easily..thanks in advance sir
what did they do 1000 years ago ?
Make beer I guess. What can we do today is the only questioned I’m concerned with though unless I’m brewing a recipe that’s 1000 years old and I want to do it exactly the way they did. You do the research and let me know and I’ll brew a beer exactly the way they did.
Mumble, mumble, it went down. Fish.
Slip bobber and a leech. 😜
How long did you ferment the zucchini?
Usually takes about two weeks. Then chill it to stop the process.
Great video I Live in the Holmen WI area Hamm's beer is good for the price but that looks good to drink 🍻 cheers
Thank you Michael. I usually have Hamms on Monday at band practice. The recipe I brewed is definitely better. More malt flavor. I usually brew that beer once a year. Thanks for watching. Take care.
I love the idea of a cold CDA. Well done Barry. I wonder what made you go w corn v rice as an adjunct? Also, did you add sugar to dry it out more? I've been intrigued by Chip's cold IPA vids recently. Thanks for sharing. What did your abv end up being?
I really didn’t think of rice as an adjunct. I did not add any sugar. It dried out pretty well without it. Got down to 1.006. Came in right around 6% ABV. Thanks for watching. Appreciate the support.
Is there any possibility that the bitterness achieved is attributable to the dark malt? The darkest malt I use is 80 L. I am inexperienced with darker malts. Great vidya MMC. Cheers.
I’m sure a little bitterness came from the Perla Negra but probably not much. Citra and Simcoe hops covered most of the bitterness. Thanks for watching.
Maibock?
Nice guess. That brewday is coming up but it wasn’t this brewday.
So where did you end up on your OG?
I ended up at 1.048.
I wondered the same thing. Ha. All that gravity talk. I'm sure it will turn out to be tasty. Cheers for the vid.
Great vidya. Good work in the drum kit too. Cheers Bud.
Thank you sir and thanks for watching.
Does your refractometer actually have the SG readings in it? I didn't know they made them like that. If you divide 54 by 4 it would be about 13.5 brix. Interesting brew/non-brew video. I know you love the hot Scotchies.
I was just guessing the brix at that point in the video. You’re right. It’s 13.5 but to answer your other question, I do have an SG reading on my refractometer. That’s on the right and brix on the left.
Great color on that wort! Hope the next step goes well 😉
That is about to happen. Start cold crashing tomorrow. All is going well so far.
Great work! I hope Steve and Crazy Neighbour get a chance to try this brew!
I hope so also. Just have to send them a few bottles. Maybe they will drink it on one of their videos.
Hi Barry. I lived in new Hudson in my earlier years when I moved from Brighton. No breweries back then, my how things have changed. Safe travels. Cheers from out east!!
It’s a very small world.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. Man. That day will come for all of us. Good to see a brew day video with some fun bonus live footage. Cheers.
Thanks Don O. I appreciate that. More brew days to come soon.
Nice video! I am planning to build one on my own
Thank you. It works pretty well to hold temps that are above room temperature. Works great when you’re fermenting with Kviek yeasts. Good luck with your project.
Well done gentlemen. If I can make one suggestion, you should add to the video description some details about each beer, would make it easier for the viewer to follow. Cheers.
Thanks for watching Dan. I will definitely do that in the next video. Great idea.
I agree. I dropped into this video (I love me a good Pale Ale) and I don't think it was ever said what was different with the 2nd beer.
You can always refer to the video that we made when we brewed those two beers, which is roughly 2 videos back from this current video. Green bills were the same but the hops were different and we did mention in the video what hops we used
I’m sorry. I meant grain bill, not green bill
Lol. Loved it and those beers looked great. Nice set up Justin.
They were tasty. Looking forward to more collabs. Thanks Paul for watching
Loving the Ope! Brewery t-shirt :-)
Enjoying the shirt for sure.
Great Vidya. My spring lawnmower is Maris Otter 80% Rolled Oats 20%, Azacca 1/2 ounce at 60 and 1/2 at 15min. I tried to keep it below 5% and came in at 4.5% Great combination for sure. I think you could just use any bittering addition with Maris Otter. Great malt. Cheers.
I agree. Maris Otter is probably my favorite grain to use. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I may have to brew that over the summer.
Haha, another great video. Thanks for hanging out and having some beers. We'll definitely need to plan out a brew day soon.
Thanks Justin. The brew day at your place shall happen.
Hi Barry. Good to see you back. Kick butt on the skins my man. Life can be hard for sure. The world is not an easy place. It’s not how much you get knocked down but more how many times you get back up! You’ve got all your brewing brothers and sisters to help you up in this tough time. Keep on trucking, better times are ahead and so is spring gobbler! Cheers from out east.
Thank you for the kind uplifting words. Much appreciated Scott. I’m definitely looking forward to the spring turkey season. Can’t wait. Cheers from the Midwest.
Sorry to hear about your dad.
Thank you Larry. I appreciate that. Always looking forward to your videos. Have a good weekend sir.
