Check Your Campsite (Rattlesnake Edition)
Переглядів 2398 місяців тому
While out on a small hike I cam across a small snake that looked like a rattlesnake that is common in my area. It turned out to be a harmless milk snake, so I decided to share it with you all and advise everyone to check your campsite for any potentially harmful critters.
Bushcraft Kitchen - Wood Grub (almost)

Collecting a whole mess of wood grubs is impossible in the spring where I live, and actually getting more than a few would be time consuming at best so a can of Silk Worm Pupa will have to stand in for the 350th video on my channel. #eatingbugs
Tent vs. Hammock Cutting Out The Crap
Переглядів 3788 місяців тому
I might a little late in the game to be putting in my two cents about this old argument, but I wanted to get a lot of hammock experience before weighing in. For anyone who wants an unbiased opinion about which is better, come on in and check out my video on the subject.
Never Thought I'd be Here Again

My father an I were out for a boat ride when we decided to head down the river towards the lake my nephew and I went down with my old canoe to have a look. We found a new ATV trail and decided to follow it past the big waterfall and ended up finding the spot where my nephew and I camped out to recover from our decent into a survival situation.

Just a short video about the birch tree commonly found in my area, the paper birch. i would have made a slightly more comprehensive video but I wasn't sure if the video was even going to be used because of the heavy winds when I short it. I hope you enjoy it though. #birchtree #survival #bugout

I had to film this video on my iPhone, and for some reason I can’t manage to get it transferred to the computer. That means that I have to upload it directly from my phone in its raw unedited form to even get this thing onto the channel, which was supposed to be uploaded two days ago, but after fighting with it until now I’m giving up and doing it this way Anyway, I hope it helps someone in the...

I am definitely not a fan of sleeping bags so I have my own way of keeping warm and cozy in the woods. Come on in and check it out. One thing I forgot to mention is the button snaps on the poncho to hold everything together better and somewhat mimic a sleeping bag for those of you who like the sleeping bags but want to try this out too.

Just got the large Selkirk folder today and I loved the knife............eventually, we could not get it out of the case, it's a bloody ridiculous design, seriously it's awful, for the quality of the knife the case is a serious letdown and brand damager. As for the knife, what can I say, sheer quality, I have all three Selkirks now and I think the world of them, But that damn case..................

@@sdb10666 there are some black screws on the case that need to be loosened so the knife can slide in and out a little easier. Once you adjust those, I’m sure you’ll be happy with the design.

I live in S.W. Wisconsin. Riding motorcycle on a nice back road winder three springs ago momma and twin fawns decided to cross in front of me. I shut the bike off and coasted within 10 ft. of them. Mom crossed then one of the fawns and the second came over and licked my leg. So beautiful. I wonder if it's one of those fawns that's in my freezer from last weeks hunt?

Memory root, read where older school children would tell a a person to bite into the corm, the lesson was your memory would be imprinted that you would never forget to ever doing it again, hence the idea of it called memory root!

You made some really great points and now I wish I would’ve went into a little more detail for the video. I left out the under quilt for the hammock because I also left out the sleeping pad for the tent as well as pillows and other bedding. It was a little easier to do the video that way. Thanks for watching and commenting and here’s hoping you continue to enjoy my videos in the future

I was a hammock camper for years. I was always solo camping, and would often walk WAAAAY out into the middle of nowhere to do so. You forgot to mention the under quilt. it's just as bulky as a sleeping bag. I once camped by a river in a 45C Aussie summer. I didn't think I would need the under quilt. I was wrong. Even with day temperatures like that, my back was still painfully cold over night. I also just use a bug net and a tarp. It's even more minimal than either a hammock set up, or a single tent. Another point: you can use a hammock as a ground tent if you need to. I don't really use a tent when hiking. However, these days my camping is mainly a rooftop tent. Sometimes a swag.

This reality is only a shadow of the real world we cut nature down to size through numbers, through the dehumanization of nature by calling it “wild” or uncontrollable Even our rivers are completely controlled by dams because floods do not fit into our controlled realities. Food, water, shelter countless nations of plants and animals gave us this and we show our gratitude by sharing our food to the spirits that gave us these gifts. My people feed the spirits not because they hunger like us because we live in a state of indulgence as people of flesh and blood.
