Hello and welcome to my channel!
In March of 2017 I turned one of my adolescent fantasies into reality by purchasing a brand-new Triumph Bonneville T100 Black from the Marin Speed Shop, just north of San Francisco where I live. Needless to say, I made like Steve McQueen with that first drive back home over the Golden Gate, through the dense evening fog, and into the city lights. Fast forward a few thousand miles and I'll tell you how being cut-off whilst turning right in the city and dropping the bike was not a fun experience. To my surprise, however, insurance awarded me a lump-sum totaling more than anticipated.
That money has since been used to purchase some seriously cool upgrades which are the driving force behind this channel's creation. I hope to show motorcycle enthusiasts that are new to the biking world (like myself) how to save money on would-be labor costs by performing routine & necessary bike maintenance at home while creating a badass custom bike in the process.

How To: Broken Gear Shift Lever (Custom 2017 Triumph Bonneville T100 Black!)
If you've ever split your bike, you'll know that the gear-shift lever is one of the first points of impact when it hits the ground. Unfortunately, this is the second time this has happened to me, so I thought I'd make a video showing how you can easily swap it out for a new one without paying your local shop to do it for you.

UPDATE: As I mentioned in the video, I will now be creating shorter videos w/ less content/video in an effort to facilitate a faster overall output rate (installing, recording, editing, & uploading). Hopefully, this will allow me to have more video content for the channel, quicker upload times, & provide a more enjoyable viewing experience.

AMATEUR HOUR!
Stupid Video, obviously an add for Muck off. The repeative sick music sent me packing .
😊
Cool video, did the headlight grill fit the standard headlight? On the site it isn't listed as compatible?
Yes it did! No issue for me
Machst du an der lampe rum ohne die Batterie abzuklemmen?
Ich hoffe du hast den ganzen Chemie scheiss und das öl nicht in den normalen Abfluss laufen lassen? Dein Grundwasser bedankt sich schonmal..
Turn your music down.
Lol
Glad to hear you've still got it, didn't realize till I had sent message that you posted it five years ago.
Nice bike, if I was you I would sort those spokes out quite rusty. Use a bit of aluminium foil with a little autosol should bring them up a treat.
Thank you! Had them replaced under warranty…living close to the ocean in San Francisco without a garage was tough…
Thanks, because of you I am about to spend some money and do some work!!! Great video and some great mods!
Hi Mate Overspray from chainlube is MEGA Dangerous !!! Your chain looks too rusty and is jumping through seizure from lack of maintenance .... please take care in future
Thanks for the video. Most of all showing the model on the package. 😆 I’m about to order one myself. 👍
Can you put boneville footpegs to a thruxton? I'd like to know...
I believe so but I’m not positive.
I wouldn't clean my bike or maintain the chain in this way. The video is simply an add for Muc-off. Don't get me wrong most Muc-off products are good. This guys chain is rusty and I think I see a kink in it where the rollers aren't completely free. And who needs gimmicky wash mits? Use your favourite sponge or rag and stop polluting the planet by buying "stuff" which comes in endless packaging.. The chain should be oiled directly and precisiely without spraying lubricant where it isn't needed or may be dangerous.
Love this video. Very well filmed. And love your mods! Thanks!
Thank you !!
@@connorkeith1881 I didn’t realize this video was 4 years old till after I commented. Do you still have your T100?
@@snowh2o no I don’t, unfortunately:/
love the video by chance do you know the part number for those bar end finishers?
super!👌
WD40
*Thanks for the video. Solid work! T-100 Bonneville. Some say the most beautiful bike on this planet and in the universe! This video is shot in THAILAND (not TAIWAN!) the TRIUMPH T100 is also built at the Thai factory* ua-cam.com/video/k-cEH4Peekg/v-deo.html
Did you have any trouble getting the pedal/knob off of the bent old gear shift to reuse it? Struggling here.
No actually, my broken one just screwed right off :/
Ratz. The bolt on mine must have bent slightly. I’ll have to get some strength on it.
A lot of mistakes but I am sure you improved a lot.
Thank you for the kind feedback!!
Don't understand why your making a retro bike look modern .
Because I think it looks better 👍👍
Just found your channel. I appreciate what you’ve done with the mods and the video production.
Зря сетку-гриль поставил на фару. Плохо смотрится. Лампочку надо было синею.
Where did you buy it from ?
From the dealership
has no clue what hes doing. this is a dangerous video for a beginer to see
Thank you for your insightful comment!
Nice looking Bonnie Connor. Question for you... where did you purchase your brown diamond stitch seat?
Thanks man. Bought it from the triumph dealer in Marin County, CA
I have, and love, a triumph. But Jesus, this is so much branding. I hated all the branding from the factory. Haha. But hey, do your thing!
What bar end mirrors did you install?
CRG Lanesplitters!
Wow, those, " inspection covers', don't even truly do anything? Just for show. I'm glad my old 2005 doesn't have those kind of things that are just for looks, and not function. Im a sucker for purchasing crap that's unnecessary. I do like the headlight rock protection grill but chose against it. My bucket is chrome anyway. Thanks for the look.
Hello ! Nice Video ! What is the brand of your exhaust system ?
Curious if your bike experienced any downshift issues some time after you damaged the lever?
None!
@@connorkeith1881 Glad to hear it! My t120 has had the gearchange shaft fixed three times. I think itès a part problem with triumph but the one time happened 1200km after i had a tip over and I paid the bill like a sucker. Probably should have pushed triumph to good will the part like they did for my most recent repair. oh well.
@@christiancartmale1150 How much did it cost? It’s still an issue on the new T120s :(
WHERE ARE YOU MATE, I BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS FOR YOU TO CHANGE YOU BACK INDICATORS
Great video! Question about your spoked rims - I can see widespread rust on the spokes. What's the deal with that? Is that not a 3 year old motorcycle? My 15 year old bicycle has less rust than that and that spent years outside.
Yep, not sure if it was a manufacturing flaw with the 2017 models or if it was because i was living a mile up the road from the ocean in San Francisco with no garage cover...hard to say. Luckily the warranty covered the replacement of those wheels.
@@connorkeith1881 great to hear that you got those replaced/etc under warranty! Ocean and salt would definitely have something to do with it, however I'm still really surprised. I actually went out and checked the spokes on by bicycle and there's 0 rust after 15 years of use and abuse (there is rust on some bolts/etc, however rims look like new)
did you get any luggage for your bike?
This honestly reminds me of being a little girl and buying expensive dresses for my Barbie. I cannot believe I am looking to dress up my motorcycle, well....the bonnies are beautiful.
Hey which brand of handlebar rearview mirrors are those? Do you happen to have a link available? Much appreciated!!
Wow Dude! I hope you listen to the comments. Your chain is a disaster. Replace it and the sprockets. Then service it no later than every 400 miles. Stay safe brother.
???????????????
Do you wear any black leather biker jackets??
Love this! As an update to this video - our MO-94 spray is now biodegradable and no longer contains PTFE. Thanks for featuring us! Muc-Off Moto
Muc-Off Moto 🙌
Soapy water and a dish cloth.......and do it in the sunshine..... Simples!!!! .....that way you can still wear your flip-flops. Tip: You should always oil the inside of your chain and do it on the underside aiming it away from your wheels/tyres and brakes!!! Try to use something a bit more directional. They're the oiliest flip-flops I've ever seen dude!!
sean squire Thanks for the heads up!!
When every part you put on the bike has a "subtle" Triumph logo, it is no longer subtle. LOL J/K Great looking Bonnie! Thanks for sharing.
Cool video, very nicely done!
Lemmy at Revzilla gives a very good video on clean and lubing chains. I use Kero to clean like he does and Chain Wax from Belray. Most modern bikes use an O Ring or sealed chain so take note what he says about difference in cleaning and why. This is always a subjective subject so find what suits you and stick with it, your mechanic will tell you if its working or not, if your chain craps out...LOL
Brave lad putting yourself on here, a lot always look for reasons to bag you, everyone thinks they are an expert so dont let them get to you, I'm sure you won't....But in saying that they have got some good points but didnt need to be so condescending in the way they said it. I was wondering though is that a second hand bike and is it stored outside, just looking at the amount of rust on spokes shocks etc, they need a good rub down to get surface rust off and treat with some protectant. I am lucky to have a big garage but even in Winter I use a lot of Silicone spray over metal parts to keep moisture at bay, and if bike is stored outside or you live in a salty area then more so... I had Triumps, but my main bike is a Road King and a 2019 Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor
Thanks for the kind words, Colin! I agree with you, and it’s much appreciated. It was my first bike, and as I didn’t have a garage at the time was stored outside (covered). Unfortunately the rusting became a major issue as I lived just a mile from the ocean in San Francisco. It was brand new (2017) and quickly rusted over. I did have the spoke and wheels replaced under a manufacturer warranty. Your bikes are kick ass!
Tip: never spray chain lube outside of the chain but only inside and way less...anyway that chain needed to be changed, but I guess (hope) that in 3 years you've already done it XD
Hey Connor! Nicely done! Do you still have the original black headlight front ring that you removed? I. Am. Looking for one. Thanks
DUST & IRON Hey! thanks very much. Unfortunately I do not...I sold it on eBay a while back
What for Exhaust they are???
Lukas 13 “Cone Engineering Shorty” mufflers 🤘
Great. Well done. Enjoyed that. I have a T120. Cheers from U.K.
