      Thank you! They’ll definitely lose some color in hot weather, more or less. But if you use small pots and are able to control water frequency, for those ones that have been stressed for years, they’ll still stay compact and colorful. Some of my plants have reached that point, but not all of them. It takes time. But once you get there, maintaining color would be easier.

    Hi, great video! I wanted to ask wether cold nighttime temperatures on their own are enough to get color; I'm in Germany and in Spring right now at night it gets below 4°C, but during the day the temperature gets warmer, a little above 10°C most days So would my succulents still develop color if it's only below 4°C half the time?

    Pot size only has to do with soil drying fast, root system has nothing to do with coloration. You're living in CA, unless you put your plants in organic soil, you have to do absolutely nothing for them to properly color. Refrain from giving false information please.

    • @SucculentPalette
      @SucculentPalette 2 роки тому

      'Refrain from giving false information please.' This is also for you. You ignored that the pot size is only one element, it needs to match with your local weather, how gritty the substrate is and the watering method you choose. I've done a lot of tests on my succulents which could prove how important pot size matters. With the same conditions and same species, small pot size can significantly reduced the overall time of coloring up. Please respect other people's effort especially If you haven't really tried it like I do.

      @@lordshitpost31 Bigger pots for growing size & developing multiple heads, smaller pots for controlling the shape & the best color. I didn’t make this up, its just basic knowledge for succulent keepers in China and Korea. I don’t know how you test it, but it works for me and a lot of people. There may be some detail that you’re missing, but you won’t get anywhere just labeling it ‘false’.

    hii may i ask how to allow a succulent to grow a strong root system? i recently bought an echeveria laui that has little to no roots and im not sure on what to do

    • @SucculentPalette
      @SucculentPalette 2 роки тому

      Hi! In my experience, Laui is not a succulent that grows roots easily. Usually I like to wait till I see the succulents are growing small roots before potting them into the soil. But that's not the case for laui… I‘ve waited one laui for six months and it didn't grow roots at all. So I would recommend you pot it in the moist soil mix(but not too wet), and give it water every week to encourage root growth. Before it root, make sure you don't over water it, because the new root system need some time before they can absorb water from the soil.

    tysmm this video was very helpful and informative!! may i ask on tips for how to make succulents pink/ more prominent in anthocyanin in a country where its summer all year round?

    • @SucculentPalette
      @SucculentPalette 2 роки тому

      Hi! Sorry I just saw your comment. If the weather in your area is really hot, it's definitely much harder to get pink color. Without cold stress, it means all the colors only rely on the sufficient sunlight to accumulate. But too much sunlight will possibly break down some anthocyanin, which would turn the color into more orangey and yellow. That's something we can not avoid. Besides that, you can choose the varieties of the succulents. For example, agavoides is not a typical species that will show pink color after stress. Species like E. blue bird & E. peacockii will be likely to be thrilled in the hot weather, and because they are base color is blue tone & have think farina, they are more likely to get pink color after stressing.

    You have achieved form, health, and stress colors balance perfectly in your succulents! In winter, in your zone 10, do u leave them outside with or without overhead cover?

    • @SucculentPalette
      @SucculentPalette 2 роки тому

      If the temps are above 0C (30F), I'll leave them outside without cover. (I don't have enough covers for all my plants😂) If it rains continuously and the temperature is too low, you need to move them indoor. Otherwise the plants will be frostbitten. (Local species should be fine, imported ones need to be taken care of)

    Love that you’re so concise, orderly and to the point. I really need to learn these details, each time I lose my succulents, it’s awful! Glad to have found your channel. I’ll be watching all that u have so far and just subscribed. Question for you. I have so many imported succulents that either only grow albino leaves or they only grow green leaves, no variegated leaves at all! Do u have any idea what factors may cause them to either only grow albino or green leaves when they were initially beautifully variegated?

    • @SucculentPalette
      @SucculentPalette 2 роки тому

      Thank you so much for the compliments! About the variegated problem, if I would guess, the main issue could be the environment ( espaciall the lighting condition). Variegated is when the two types of pigment achieving a balance. So when the green pigments is dominated, it 'll become fully green. One way the other. Also, when you choose variegated succulents, watch out those ones that're "too pretty". Like some succulents that are half albino + half green. These types of variegated are not stable.

    • @SucculentPalette
      @SucculentPalette 2 роки тому

      Yes you can, just make sure don't overwater it. We want to make the soil to be moist, so that the plant will feel the humidity & try to grow root. There's another way I would recommend is that you can spray some water on the soil and mix them evenly, and then you repot the plant in this moist soil.
