I'm just a guy messing around with calculators. Join me on my channel for news, tutorials, and other calculator stuff!
I finally got one! Unreleased Zero Calculator prototype teardown
Thanks to TI-Planet's programming competition, I now have a physical ZGC3 prototype! In this video, I go over some first impressions with the device along with taking it apart and looking at some of the hardware inside.
Feel free to suggest future ideas I should do with the new calculator and I'll do my best to answer any questions about it in the comments as well! :)

How To Jailbreak Your TI-nspire CX II/CX II CAS/-t Using Ndless
For when it could be released to the market??? I visited de website and was in pause, like 2 or 3 weeks ago. I don't understand it, that calculator has magic !!!
One final question, In the folder when looking at the roms, Smb has multiple R## Files, ranging from R00 to R13, each taking up a LOT of ram (about as much as the game itself per file) Can I delete some of these files or would that be bad, my Tetris File only has one R## file only ranging to R00.
@@rydertheapple843 my guess is that Tetris is a smaller game, so the ROM takes up less total files. Because calculator files have a limit to how large each one can be, the ROM converter has to split the ROM into multiple files to send to the calculator, meaning that a larger ROM has more files. So probably it wouldn't be good to delete some of the SMB ROM files since they're all a part of the same thing and need to be there to run the game.
much love bro
How do ya delete the games tho 😭 (just the individual Roms)
If you go into the memory management menu and select AppVars, you delete the AppVars that begin with the name of the ROM you selected when converting. Hope that helps :)
@ Thanks! Also I want to fit more games onto it, currently I only have SMBD and Tetris, no other programs but the ones mentioned in this video, I went to download Pokémon red but was out of storage, I was so confused and two games can’t be the only amount I can fit into the Calc. Any way I could fix this? Which programs (mentioned in the video) should I archive and which programs should I leave on ram? Or if you have another way to fit more games please let me know. I’m not sure if the games are located on ram or archive. Any advice helps. Apologies for the long message.
@@rydertheapple843 Any programs can and should be archived, and the AppVars should already be in archive. Sadly the gameboy games are really quite large so you can usually only fit one or two on the calculator at once. There are a number of games made specifically for the calculator (and don't require an emulator) you can get here: www.cemetech.net/downloads/browse/84pce Those are typically smaller so you can fit a larger number, possibly along with one or two gameboy games. To free up some space (but it might not be enough for other gameboy games) you can always delete pre-installed apps you don't use, for example language apps that you don't speak. You can always download these again from TI's website, so it's fine to delete them.
brother it wonnt download like it keeps saying one or more flies are invalid and cannot be sent to the calculator
Are you sending only the .8xv and .8xp files (or .b84)? Make sure that if you have extracted any zip files. If you're using ChromeOS, that can have issues, so try on macOS or Windows if you can.
How do I reverse OS when I stupidly updated to 5.8? I’ve tried a few things online and nothing has worked
There's no public downgrade method available. If you want to run games and other assembly / C programs, you'll need to use the arTIfiCE jailbreak: yvantt.github.io/arTIfiCE
This is why we can’t have nice things
i got minecraft on mine
Hey dude ,quick question. Do you know if there is any way to make a Pokemon trade with my calculator? I really want to get a Gengar but to do so you have to trade a Haunter with a buddy who also has a Gameboy. (Great video btw very useful and fun)

@@sans_undertale-999 trading isn't a feature right now, but I did hear that the creator of the emulator may add trading in the future. Some ROM hacks also let you evolve certain pokemon without trading, so you could look into that.
@@TInyHackerCalcs DUDE! thank you so much really helpful info! Love your vids by the way!
@@sans_undertale-999 no problem!
@@TInyHackerCalcs Hey Man sorry to bother again but do you think you could provide some link to some specific ROM that let you evolve pokemon without trading? would be very appreciated
@@sans_undertale-999 It depends on which version you're interested in, but I'm pretty sure Polished Crystal is a ROM hack that lets you do that: github.com/Rangi42/polishedcrystal You also might be able to transfer your save from the calculator to the computer and convert it with the save converter on the TI-Boy CE website, and then use this tool to do a trade between save files: bluemoonfalls.com/pages/tools/trade-sim
Who cares for schools?
If I want to open pictures from the flash drive, is that possible? Do I need to convert it to .8xv
There isn't really a way to open pictures off the flash drive. You could store 8xv files on it and then copy them to the calculator and then open them in a picture viewing program, but you can't open them directly off the flash drive.
@@TInyHackerCalcs It says i don’t have enough memory in my Archive or Ram for HDPICV. The folder of images is 7.2 MB😬
@@mayfieldomelette In that case you probably won't be able to send all the images. But you could keep them all on the drive, copy the files for one picture over when you need it, and then delete it when you're done and copy it back from the drive if you ever want it again (if that makes sense)
@@TInyHackerCalcs damn! I needed six pictures of my guide on the calculator. Any other tips or tricks? I have it typed up in my notes under PRGM. But it’s super long and tedious. But maybe I’m just being lazy. I heard that there is a portable hard drive that can be connected to the calculator as a USB? I saw a video on it, but I don’t know.
@@mayfieldomelette I'm not sure. You could always try shrinking or compressing the images to make them smaller and they might fit better?
My Pokémon crystal says I need more ram, how do I add that?
Are you sending the files to RAM or to Archive? You should send everything to Archive as there is much more room for files there.
@@TInyHackerCalcsmost of my files are already archived but I will try to send some more * means archived right?
@@macbr5554 Yep!
Can you trade pokemons between calculators ?
I think the creator of the emulator has considered adding the capability in the future but currently it isn't possible.
I heard it was after pressure from the Dutch government, it was allowed one year later for Dutch exams. I live in the Netherlands, why couldn't they just make two versions (black snd and white?) or disable the exam mode LED for custom roms?
Will my calculated still work?
It will! TI-Boy CE is only a program, so once you close it you'll be back to the regular calculator until you open it again.
Can i have some help? My calculator is saying ERROR: INVALID. I used a zip file rom, and dont know how to run anything else. I would like to play pokemon!
You need to run TI-Boy CE through the arTIfiCE exploit. This is because of a newer version of TI-OS. I've made an updated tutorial which covers that here: ua-cam.com/video/plrj6Pm-6rg/v-deo.html
@@TInyHackerCalcs YAY! IT works now. Thanks bro!
cesium is just so 😩🐐
Thank you so much! I accidently didnt download TIBOyDat and i was super confused becuase i downloaded everything else, but i redid everything and i can finally play pokemon red.
Nice! Glad it's working :)
Hey, loved the video! Just wondering how do I acquire the rom? do you have a discord server? :)
I don't have a discord, but I have considered it. Might make one at some point :) Nintendo generally doesn't like linking resources to ROMs because they're pretty picky, but a quick google search will probably tell you what you need to know. Glad you liked the video! Let me know if you have any other questions! :D
@@TInyHackerCalcs I figured it out :) thanks for the help! Btw, if you do end up making a discord, I will be sure to join 😀
I need help how can I transfer screenshots to my calculator?
girl just turned her calculator into a computer at that point.
When typing in the game (for names) how do you delete a letter if you make a mistake?
Are you talking about when you convert the ROM? I think backspace should work.
The cpu and ram should me upgradeable (if you have moderate soldering skill) since its doesn't require reballing
where did you get your rom because the ones i find are not roms and one file is said not to be made for ti 84 plus ce
Hell of a tutorial! Great job kid!
I know I'm 2 years late but what is the best option right now?
If you're interested in community development, I've found the most resources to be available for the TI-84 Plus CE. However, if you don't care about third-party programs, the NumWorks is still a solid choice, and if you get a used one it's possible to get an older model that can use the Phi jailbreak which restores the ability to install custom firmware.
@@TInyHackerCalcs Ok thanks. Obviously I just need it for calculations and basic graphing functions but I think having community development available would be a nice add on. Thanks for the feedback
Will I still be able to use my normal calculator after?
Yeah! The emulator is simply a program that can be ran on the calculator, similar to an app on a PC or phone, so once you exit it (with the [on] key) you'll be back to the normal calculator :)
@@TInyHackerCalcs tysm
I try to run TIBoyCEbut it says "Error Invalid" even though I have ASM, Cesium, and arTifice downloaded
@@ritoTheBenjiLover Are you running TI Boy CE through arTIfiCE or Cesium? You need to run it through the jailbreak or a shell, not from the homescreen.
@@TInyHackerCalcs it also restarts my OS everytime i open arTIfiCE
do you know how to factory reset the calculator and wipe everything from it
If you go into the memory management menu ([2nd] + [+]), then select option 7 (Reset), you should see an option to reset the RAM, reset the Archive, or reset all. You're probably looking to reset all. Hope that helps :)
I accidentally pressed "restart game" when I was playing pokemon gold, is there any way to get my progress back?
Restarting the game should only reset the ROM, so if you've ever saved through the in game menu you should be able to select continue when the game starts up.
@@TInyHackerCalcs I don’t think I ever presssed save game. Is there any way I can go into the files or something and try to find it?

Good luck to these guys. NumWorks has been at it for years now with a calculator that’s priced less than the TI-84 CE and is superior in every way other than adoption. It’s a TOUGH market. Hope Zero’s idea of make a much less expensive TI-84 clone works out for them, but it sounds like TI is going to block that as much as possible.
I like the battery. It's not permanently wired in, with a full pluggable connector, while being a bigger size so should get extra battery life. You might only replace such a battery once or twice during the lifetime of owning such a calculator, so I don't think the hassle of replacing it is a big deal over trade-offs to allow it to be a larger capacity. As long as it doesn't have crazy 'permanent' sticking solutions like most phones do (because they really do want you to buy a new phone rather than replace their battery).
waiting for TLM to comment XD
