PERFECT - No Till EASY Food Plots - No Equipment No Problem!
There are some great options for small secluded spots that are hard to access with equipment for planting fall food plots for deer. Deer hunting over a food plot that you've established and cultivated the spot over time can be very rewarding and the right seed for food plots can offer nearly year round forage for whitetail deer and turkey. In this video Edward is giving the Domain Outdoors No BS along with the Green Machine fall plot mixes a shot and going to see how it progresses as deer season approaches. @domainoutdoor
The No BS mix offers a variety of FORAGE OATS, RED AND WHITE CLOVER, FORAGE RAPE, RADISH AND CHICORY while the Green Machine has VARIETIES OF WINTER RYE, FORAGE OATS, WINTER PEAS, FORAGE RAPE AND TILLAGE RADISH. Both working in combination offer great food sources for whitetail deer and turkeys alike for months to come.
While Edward used some equipment for breaking the ground up - These mixes are proven options to provide hunters with food plot options with minimal tillage and no equipment necessary. Of course results will vary based on many conditions of how the mixes are sewn, however these combinations are time tested PERFECT FALL & WINTER CROPS to keep the big bucks coming back. I picked up that exact gun today, and want to run TSS in one barrel and buffered lead in the other, but the internet seems divided on wether tss is a no go for fixed chokes, or that #9 tss is too small to cause bridging or damage. As someone who has actually fired TSS through your fixed choke, have you noticed anything out of the ordinary?

    • @callemorcrawlem
      @callemorcrawlem 4 місяці тому

      I patterns quite well and have zero issues only that the tight patterns tell on the POA. This gun shoots low and right and with little sight options makes it kinda one of those things that you just have to compensate for. My gun has run the TSS just fine, it does pack a punch though.

      @@callemorcrawlemmine shoots low left, I fixed that by putting a beartooth products comb raising kit on it. I needed the 3/8” spacer. Raising the comb not only brought the point of impact up but it also fixed the windage, because I didnt have to scrunch down on the stock funny to get a sight picture.

    Real question is, have you ever been lucky enough to find a gem stone in a turkey gizzard? I remember hearing stories of native Americans finding gems in bird gizzards and it being seen as a sign for bountiful hunting for the upcoming year.

    • @callemorcrawlem
      @callemorcrawlem 5 місяців тому

      Well - That's a tough one to explain -But the correct location is on the roof of the mouth when the air is actually striking the reed. The tape helps to position it and keep it there.

      Roof of your mouth, use tounge to press up on the reeds, experiment with placement of everything for several weeks, months, or years. Its not gonna happen overnight, its like learning to play an instrument, it takes LOTS OF PRACTICE...... LOTS. Keep it in your truck. Keep it clean and dry. It needs to be washed after every use. Start out with a single or double uncut reed call.

      So I'm certainly no expert on the matter but my belief is they will naturally pass them and add to them over their life some may stay longer than others, when you look at the walls of the Gizzard there are pocket like folds that I'm sure they can tuck into and stay pretty much indefinitely

      Try to bring the air from the diaphragm - The best way I can describe this is to almost feel as though you are squeezing your core (abs and such) as you exert the breath. Think of it more of a huffing than blowing it.

    • @scottlocke3645
      @scottlocke3645 5 місяців тому

      @callemorcrawlem Goodmorning and Thanks! I'll try that but just to make sure I understand this correctly the air should be between my tongue and the bottom of the Reed with the cut of the Reed up.

    • @kalvinhutchins3704
      @kalvinhutchins3704 5 місяців тому

      @scottlocke3645 my understanding is the air goes over the top of the reed between your tounge and the roof of your mouth.

      @scottlocke3645 5 місяців тому

      @kalvinhutchins3704 You're not going to believe this but I decided to try a different mouth call. I was using a ghost call and I switched to a simple double Reed call. Wow what a difference! I'll keep on using it and hopefully get it figured out then I'll try different cuts and see what happens. Maybe the shape of my mouth and air flow works best with the double Reed. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise and experience! Happy Hunting!!

    One question I have is I went Turkey hunting a few weeks ago and there was a group of toms in a meadow. Despite calling them we weren’t getting a response, is that a good time to try and move in on them or should I keep trying to call them every so often for future reference?

    • @callemorcrawlem
      @callemorcrawlem 5 місяців тому

      So usually if they are non responsive they'll either be tight with hens and you're just not in their bubble - using the terain and not getting busted by all the eyes on the ground will of course give you the advantage but moving in can get you pegged quick. Try and spend time to figure out the bird and how many hens he's hanging with and then you'll be able to know more about why he has no interest in peeling off from where he's at. Usually when they are lonely they'll come see what you have to say even if you're just an average caller. Developing a plan for the bird and what he's been doing is a surefire way to get closer to him each day you hunt him. I will add that hunting a bird 2,3 4.... days in a row obviously will help you nail this down but often times we don't have that luxury
