I'm primarily a YT watcher for streams simply because with premium I don't have to deal with ads.

Yeah, your take on ads is dumb. If you like the streamer enough you'll stay through the ads but NO ONE likes them... It's like saying most people hate work but we need/want money so I guess i'll stay here for like 8-10 hours a day whatever is required...

Seems like it was cut short but from what I see he really never answered why not just stream on both. He complains about people asking such a simple question but never gives a straight forward answer. Just seems like a general net positive that he instead creates a random dilemma on. Like sure you CAN just put them as vods on UA-cam but why? What’s making streaming on both platforms so bad that it is better to ditch one and just post the vod later

People use ad blocker and yt is coming down on that. The free platform is paid for by ads and if people are blocking or not watching revenue goes down. The good Advertiser money was chased away by horrific behavior online. Johnson n Johnson did not want to out their ads on bad stuff and Pdf allegations and neither did At&T and others, so we get Ads like some odd cartoons or scam brand products that pay pennies on the dollar versus dollars on the hundred. Ergo Adpocolypse 1-4

I think lud's argument completely falls apart when he says he deals with demonetization a lot. So of course your vods don't do well. UA-cam doesn't push demonetized content and the views he was getting didn't make money. He didn't follow the rules so they didn't make money.

I hear your point about ads, but me personally. I will not ever sit through anything with ads. If i dont have some kind of ad blocker, i will just close the video and go do something else. I realize most people prolly wont agree with me, but its not worth my time to sit thru ads.

Charlie is right, those aren’t exceptions, your just not popular on youtube like they are. Adults don’t watch twitch, never go on that crap. You make more money on youtube due to VODs. Your not as big as others on youtube therefore you comparing your experience is foolish. Your just wrong saying its an outlier

I think the main difference between Charlie, Connor, and Ludwig is that Charlie and Connor both have a HUGE UA-cam presence in addition to their Twitch presence; because of that I think UA-cam-only users are waaaay more likely to watch a Connor or Charlie VOD on UA-cam rather than a Ludwig VOD since they'll already have quite a lot of exposure to those creators.

some people have bandwidth issues, so they could stream 1080p60 to twitch, then pull the vod and upload to youtube vods channel, without having to multi-stream to 2 separate platforms which would require good internet connection

For some real world numbers, one of my last streams (3 hours long) made 18 cents when live, and the VOD made 5 cents. This is with a CPM of $7.20, so.... mileage varies, everyone.

Jynxzi and Casoh both do this too and there Vods get like 300k to 600k per vod so they are rolling in it

Hello Ludwig I had to make a whole google account just to tell you, you are flat out wrong. I refuse to watch twitch because of the ads. Since they started this years ago my hours watched has gone down to 0. I cannot get myself to watch twitch because I have to sit through 4 straight 30 second unskippable ads. I understand you look at “data” that tells you “people don’t care”. There is nuance here that tells you it’s not all about ad density, but also ad experience. I don’t mind 4 ads on UA-cam that I can skip after 5 seconds. I do mind 4 ads for 2 minutes straight. Sure the ad “density” is the same, but the experience is vastly different.

I know the numbers say I'm in the minority but I haven't watched any content on twitch (outside of a few cases where it was a small streamer or one that doesn't have ads) in over a year. Before then I would never consider watching any streams on youtube because the chat culture on twitch is like 65% of why I even watched streams in the first place. Since then I've found a few small creators on youtube that I watch now but I'm now more apt to watch more live stream content on youtube. The only reason I don't is because discoverability/UX/UI on youtube seems to be designed in the worst imaginable way on purpose, almost like youtube doesn't want live streams to succeed on their platform. I've watched 100x more youtube and kick streams this year than all of my watch time combined prior but that is not even one tenth of one percent as much as I used to watch on twitch, which as I said I do not watch at all anymore because of ads. I didn't even know youtube streams had ads until Ludwig mentioned it in this video because I guess they're just getting blocked. If I was not able to block them the same way I can't on twitch then I wouldn't be watching any streams period.

2:17 I’m literally not watching Ludwig anymore because of Twitch ads lol. I have one Amazon prime per month and most of the time, it’s used on Cdawg because he does a done of events (that don’t have people “casting” most of the time like LUD). So he’s the only reason I watch twitch. Trying to find new people to watch but getting hit with ads is the reason I don’t use the platform much.

When i watch livestreams on youtube i often pause them and continue to watch them another time. When i continue the stream is already over (most if the times) but i just can continue to watch the VOD.

yeah not sure how that video got into my auto play but everytime I slept with my tablet watching videos that starfield stream would always pop up no matter how many times I skipped it It probably played every day for like 3 weeks straight

The problem with the statistics on ad density is the people who are borderline on watching twitch anyway, like me. Twitch is entertaining but it’s also a time investment now. If I could jump in for 5 minutes here and there I would, but that is not worth 2 minutes of ads each time. I barely watch twitch now because I have a busy life.

i dont think the algorithm treats vods from youtube lives the same as uploaded videos(twitch vods)

yeh i don't mind ads, if they don't interrupt my actual content. sadly twitch likes to really just ram 3-8 ads into you until you turn on a adblocker

Just my opinion, I don't watch Twitch live streams and barely watch UA-cam Live and from my own interactions I'm more likely to watch a Moist Critical Vod over a Ludwig Vod just due to Charlies engagement and interactions. I believe it would be similar for many viewers. I didn't even know you had a Vods channel etc. Vods on a side channel does effect viewership, I am not subbing to 4 channels for 1 content creator when it should all be in 1 place. Same with recommendations I don't engage with them if they are not from the main channel as it bloats and distorts the recommended videos. The ony reason why I watched this vid was to see a different perspective and now its going to kill the algo for me. I'm calling BS on ad density not mattering, almost every service has a premium model to remove them. I refuse to watch ads in a live stream so I pay UA-cam premium and if the ads start appearing in premium I will be done with the only subscription I pay for.

"People hate ads more than they say they do." I used to be able to tolerate the ads. The keywords in that staement? Used to. I started with just an adblocking browser in 2019 because I felt ads had become to lengthy and too dense, and these days I use adblocking browsers on every device with an adblocker extension if I can, go through an adblocking private DNS server, and I've contemplated getting a microcomputer and setting it up with a white and blacklist of its own to just keep any ad and all ad domains that don't break functionality from resolving. Just sayin'.
