Why Choose Life?
Trainspotting, one of the great british films. A raw and gritty portrayal of social realism and addiction captured with a hint of the existentialist philosophy that french writer Albert Camus called absurdism.

An in depth look into what is one of the most significant movies of the late 20th century and personally my favorite movie of all time. A cyclical never-ending story which, just like history, is deemed to repeat itself over and over and over again, the insanity of the human condition. This is the magnum opus of director Mathieu Kassovitz, "La Haine". I'm not exactly the greatest writer in terms...

If god truly does not exist, life has no inherent purpose or meaning, there is no endgame or path we should take, therefore creating life is optional and ultimately an absurd action if we go by Camus’ concepts at least

I've never watched this movie in full, but come across videos like this pretty often. The title "Trainspotting" alone fills me with a sense of bitter sorrow. Trainspotting is such a frivolous activity. It captures the imagination and enthousiasm of a small child, able to experience wonder and excitement at something as simple as watching trains pass by. That, juxtaposed against the numbness and harsh reality of drug addiction is just gut-wrenching to me.

Logically speaking life is absurd but Suicide is not at all logically connected to it, Suicide is an emotional response to the absurd. And if you think about it a series of logical arithmetic with the information you have led you the conclusion of absurd and Suicide . Similarly it is possible some event, information, relationship emotion might somehow mitigate the suicidal response to absurd And that is what I'm chasing. I thought people might find this helpful.

Now that the common people have gotten a taste of power it might be difficult to change the way of governance. So, fixing the common people might be a solution We could educate people of the antics of the wanna be representatives and somehow add punishment for false promises and deception (very difficult) . And if we somehow get the emperors back, they might not be the good 5 emperors of Rome.

I'd say the important part is that it's very easy to "choose life" when you have a bag of money on your back... I see that as a message. Too many of us are thrown into life by those who can't even take care of themselves, a child of such people won't chose life most of the time, unless God has decided to give them special talents. Everything in life boils down to luck, if you don't believe that, you haven't thought it through.

@@user-kr4fz4fr8j Camus’ belief is that religion is a sort of “philosophical suicide” or an easy way out but I personally disagree with that to a certain degree. Metaphysical rebellion should be built on the roots of good values and I personally take that from the christian doctrine(even if one may not believe in the ever after and for what is in the bible). Camus believes in building metaphysical rebellion on good morals and values as well but doesn’t seem very indulgent of religion. I have my doubts about religion but I can’t make many rebuttals in terms of a good moral compass, so in my opinion, probably not

Camus's so-called "rebellion" was just a self-deluded cope. He wanted to play the romantic hero, but all his inspiring bullshit couldn't hide his shadow. You can "embrace your fate" all you want. You're still blind, powerless, and doomed to die alone.

    • @doovstoover9703

Exactly why he pursued the concept of metaphysical rebellion, living in spite of these circumstances, while being aware of them with dignity and resolve. At the end of the day what you say is true but then, why not just end it all if it’s all just a cope? You probably have a coping mechanism yourself since you’re still alive, conmenting on this video. Camus’ concept remains a romanticized utter clone of existentialism but what other options do we have?

A little more tweaking and tinkering and you'll get there, I think. There's a moment in the video, for instance, when the screen goes black, it was a great moment of introspection and it certainly gave you a break in the editing department, huh? Hahaha.
