Myst 1993 Longplay - Mac Version on Perfoma 636CD - Worst Longplay Ever!
This was my first attempt at trying to get a glimpse into the world of longplays by pointing my HD camera at an LCD hooked to a Macintosh Performa 636CD, with audio being funneled into my PC's line-in port.
Its a little messy...but it gets the job done...
Myst was developed originally on the Mac version, requiring a 1x CD-ROM drive to run it, this captures that experience from back in the day. You learn the merits of "zip mode" really quickly!
Because I have the attention span of a fruit-fly, and I was unsure of the stability of my audio and video captures, jump cuts are used in between different areas.
Glitches are present, and you'll see me race to try and "catch" them, other places you'll see I had no choice but to spoil puzzles as the game was being buggy.

No one has seemed to have posted videos showing off the instruments used in MYST, so id thought id break this piece of equipment in by doing so myself :D
Speed Queen Off Balance Load Test

I was washing a pillow, and wanted to see how well a Speed Queen washer handled the out of balance load. Note that this is a severe case and is extremely unlikely to occur ever. Its unfortunate that I did not film the first spin cycle as the machine albeit severely off balance, handled the out of balance load perfectly! I got a Proteus MPS a year ago just for the sounds of Myst yet I didnt get the time to enjoy and play around with it until just recently. Did you ever compile a larger list of the patches Robyn used for Myst? This video helped a great deal to casually play the tunes hy my own hand, its a sureal experience.
If this has balance sensors that would be interesting. I know the old Whirlpool belt drives had them that stops the washer when off balance. But I don’t know about Speed Queen.

Hello. I don't understand: "transfer the original sounds of manufactures" Are you trying to record the MPS piano? Are you trying to use MIDI?
@@coreyare488 yes I'm trying to record the manufacturer's children, yes by midi, but it's not working.

@@peruperu6638 If you want to record sound from the MPS piano, use the plug on the front. Use a cord that will plug into your computers audio. If you want the MPS piano to create MIDI on computer, use USB TO MIDI cords.

Hey Corey! I'm from the extended Myst community and happened across your video looking for samples of the Myst instruments from the Proteus MPS. Myself and others are trying to sample the instrument in an effort to port the soundtrack to devices it was never intended for. Is there any chance I can collaborate with you?

Thanks for the comment, lol I found this on Ebay c: Soundfonts exist for this keyboard that you can use in FLstudio if ya cant afford the price point of one of these units, you'll just have to determine the instruments used in the presets on this keyboard. I hope to make another video someday with more samples from the game c:
I have one that I am getting ready to sell actually, in great condition :) It is the original one, without the Orchestral samples upgrade.
If you want these sounds, i recommend checking out the proteus fx. it have some of the sounds from myst. It also include some proteus 2 sounds.

I have some of these instruments in my Proteus FX. Which have some Proteus MPS presets like Metallivox aka Mtalovox in the FX. Overall these are very good finds.
Which other Myst instruments have you found in the Proteus FX? (Whether or not they were listed in this video.). Thanks!
So far, i have one of the pizz basses. i believe a flute sound. It have some of the proteus 2 presets bundle with some proteus 1 sounds. I have the oboe sound. You can find pizzbass on bank 1, you can find verb flute on bank 0 but it called Verbflut. As for the oboe it also on bank 0, Herb Essence is call Essence in Bank 1. Metallivox is call Mtalovox on Bank 3. It basically like a MPS just bundle with a bunch of sounds from Proteus 1 and Proteus 2 and Some sounds from Proteus 3.

It's a special 18 Volt AC PowerSupply from E-MU (really kinda unusual, since most synths use DC PowerSupplies when external). I am sure that somebody has posted the pinout somewhere in the Internet. It has a rating of 1.5 Amps. The original E-mu Systems part number for the PowerSupply is: ZT318-A. It also says "MPI MODEL NO. TH57A-N1500-D1/2". It's for indoor use only and 'MADE IN CHINA". The manufacturer reads: "MULTI PRODUCTS INT'L (MPI), W. PATERSON, NJ 07424". Hope this helps !
Our apartment came with a washer that does this exact motion and it gets louder by the last cycle smh it gets quite annoying to hear
The tub suspension is out of wack. It should be in the middle. Suspension spring may be broke on the left or the machine is not level.
That's the first thing I noticed as well, especially since one of the springs just broke on my Speed Queen and the tub looked just like that. The fact that the washer works at all shows the quality of the workmanship, but it's not good to continue using it like that.
@Denise Fischer are they easy to replace? I think mine might be broke or wore out

We can hardly do a load of wash without being out of balance.Never had a problem with any other washer. Not going to tell you what my wife says about this piece of S%@#...

My MPS isn't an Orchestra Plus, so I can't get the same feel. But still a very unique digital keyboard.
Great video. There are a lot more sounds in the soundtrack of myst. "Torch Synth" ie. when the big gears are opened, or "Slave Percussion" on various locations. Or how about the "Magic Bells" when stepping down the generator room? I love my/the Proteus
Yeah I really do need to do a "part 2" to this video as I have discovered more instruments and their applications, can't seem to find the instrument used for the main melody in the "Planetarium" theme, as the soundtrack release uses an oboe instead of what sounds like synth strings.
I definitely want to know what others you've found! I finally snagged a Proteus Orchestral.

very cool! Back in the day when I read they made the entire soundtrack with one guy playing this instrument I was blown away. I guess you can say that's what got me interested in music to begin with. :D It's amazing what you can do with keyboards like these.
My speed queen top loaded is always out of balance - I think the skate plate (sp?) is worn due to over loading the machine a few times. looking for parts now.
