Filmed this in college. Waited too long to digitize, the tape was damaged and so it's only some of the set.

Recorded this in High School. I know it's early Alkaline Trio because Glenn is on drums. I want to say this was at Eastern/Northern/Southern Illinois? Any help? I think it was a 1998/1999 tour with MU330.
Tuesday - Live - Fireside Bowl - Chicago
Переглядів 7 тис.10 років тому
I filmed this while in High School. Man I miss this band and venue. Tuesday was a pop punk/emo band formed by three ex-members of influential Chicago ska punk band Slapstick after the latter's 1996 breakup. Dan Andriano (bass/vocals), Matt Stamps (guitar), and Rob Kellenberger (drums/vocals) released their first EP Early Summer on Asian Man Records in 1997. Later in the year, they released thei...

My friends got married tonight. The bride's dad happens to be good friends with a member from blue oyster cult. Her dad played drums while she played cow bell...and slayed it.

I filmed this in high school at a local church outside Chicago. This was very early footage. They didn't have a CD out yet, you could only buy a tape. Their merch was screen printed resale shirts.

I didn’t know they ever had a 2nd guitarist. Makes sense- Matt’s guitar parts are so lovely and layered on the records, especially “Freewheelin’”, that I often wondered how he’d have approximated them live.
10.13.98 in my friends basement First time I heard this song. That moment has stuck with me forever.
Thank you for this.
I fucking love youtube. Thanks for uploading this man
Matt Skiba came out of nowhere with this idea that him and Dan should just make music together forever.
Wow this is a straight vintage half not bad bootleg. Yeah saw them at 9:30 with face to face.
Tyler Wiseman..... also played in The Honor System. The Falcon and the Honor System are the two most overlooked bands from the "Slapstick Family Tree" as it used to be referred to.
hahahha this was filmed like 6 years before i was even alive!!??? it’s crazy to think bands were making music and doing shit that i, someone who didn’t even exist, would fall in love with??? crazy.
You just have good taste! Quick question for you, are there any bands that you grew up listening to that are even close to as good as this? I only ask because there are very few things I’ve heard made after the early 2000’s that I liked (and everything was either from bands who were formed in the 90’s, or some member(s) were previously known from a big 90’s band. I’m really starting to believe that music died around that time, but believe me, I’d much rather be wrong!
Maaaan, do you have the rest of the show with Empire State Games?
Glenn Porter!
great video. Tuesday and Empire State Games are underrated
They played Armageddon live around this time. I wont stop until I find the live.. It's my white whale
This would have been too early, I might have it on a tape somewhere
Their early live stuff is so fun to watch. They try so many different things
This is killer, thanks so much for uploading! Golden era for sure.
I also saw them for the first time while there were on that tour with MU330. Never even heard of AT before that night and I left a huge fan. Even bought a self burned CD from them!
Was that at the Galaxie in St. Louis?

Why did Dan loose his spirit of playing live like this? Nowadays he's more like a cardboard person. Matt too.. I'm not able to play such awesome music with so much power with as little emotion as they do now.
Appreciate the upload. Great set by a great band.

I really wish I'd been able to see then as a young, starting band.
I recognize that Atom and His Package t-shirt. My girlfriend had one!
I remember that shirt from back in the day. I think I saw a show on this tour. Very small venue like this one.
Oh gawd Matt had the voice of an angel early on. Of course it wasn't sustainable, and I still love Matt, but their first couple albums and the self titled were truly in a league of their own.
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🤘😈😉⚰️🚬🥃
I was an infant when this came out. 21 years later it's my favorite band, Thanks for sharing this gold !!
Yeah can I buy a case pls?
This is so cool man, is that available in the UK?
I like the beer.
I don't even drink IPA but I would buy a case in California
Broooooooo
Can design is MONEY
Thanks for giving this to us...
I always wanted to hear a Rob Kellenberger vocal lead band, love his voice.
who's the ska band at the end lol
I think mu330
@@friermw yes it is
This is fucking GOLD...thank you for posting this.
Thank you for sharing this. I just wish I could mix it so it had more bass.
What kinda les paul is that
A Les Paul Custom
Oh my god. Blast from the past. I’m making out with my high school boyfriend in this one 😂😂 cringe 😬 The fireside was the goddamn best. 🔥
Played some shows with these guys a million years ago ❤️ so awesome to see this.
0:27 Disappear 3:07 Please Come Home 7:02 Unreleased (Apparently not Spread Me Out Rake Me In, despite what Dan says in the intro) 10:04 Another Disco Party 12:12 Unreleased 16:37 Sixty-Eight 21:07 Goodbyes Have Been Said 23:26 My Mess 27:56 Spread Me Out Rake Me In (unreleased) 34:30 Unreleased ("The first song we ever wrote with Tyler") 38:32 Too Much of Today 40:55 So Awake
What's funny about Tuesday never actually releasing a song called "Spread Me Out, Rake Me In" is that Dan eventually used that phrase in "Ruin It" by Alkaline Trio off of Agony & Irony 10 years later.
You filthy liar, Dan! 6:31 "Someday we're going to record it." As far as I know they never recorded this or the other unreleased songs at 12:12, 27:56, and 34:30. They definitely didn't release them to my knowledge.

There is a second Tuesday album that was recorded in Elgin but never released. It is the greatest emo-punk album I have ever heard. John Emerson played it for me at his home around 2004?
@@theRomanticSatire Rob Kellenberger in an interview mentioned something about having later unreleased recordings and intending to upload them. I hope they get either released or uploaded some day. I’d love to hear them!
@@eric25029 not that I've seen but I don't exactly have an inside track with him.
@@theRomanticSatire RIP John Emerson.
I saw many of your videos. Only two words...THANK YOU!
It's like magic to see this. Like a time machine. I never got to see them, by the time they would've put out another album, Dan joined the Trio, and they soon played here in Cali on the Asian Man tour. Man, hearing this is like the record is playing, they are so tight. Kellenberger is one of my all time favorite drummers. And look at Matt Stamps rocking out like this having the greatest time! It's so cool whoever posted this, you're so lucky to have been in that scene. Thanks for this.
Holy crap, how cool! I was at one of, if not their first show ever. It was a punk/ska show in Michigan and Slapstick was supposed to play - instead they announced the band had broken up and we were going to see Tuesday. Had no idea how lucky I was at the time to be there. Saw them a few times and they were always amazing. Thanks so much for posting this.
Did they play any Slapstick songs or any ska songs that you can remember?
@@fivestatedrive unfortunately I don't remember much of it. It was literally like 23 years ago.
@@fivestatedrive I grew up in Tuesday’s hometown, the good ole Chicago suburb Elgin, Illinois and they definitely didn’t play any Slapstick songs.
@@velvetmikey111 did you see the first show or shows where they were filling in dates Slapstick canceled? That would have been the only time I would have thought they might have. It didn't take them long to go in a completely different direction but at least one ska song (Not Your Pet) made it to the demo stage.
I remember a show at the Metro.. Only time I saw Tuesday
11:22 is one of my favorite parts of any song that has two vocalists in it
You must not know many songs then lol
Fuck. Glenn is a fucking animal!!! Weirdest style ever but he fucking rips.
Fuck. Glenn is a fucking animal!!! Weirdest style ever but he fucking rips.
So weird that they weren't very known around this time, still a small band with a decent following in 2000 not really known untill about 02/03 ! I always categories them with 90s punk but they werent even big enough to play with most of those bands like bad religion, offspring, nofx etc. If you went to a warped tour or big punk show in 1996/1997 people would have no idea who alkaline trio were and that was like the golden age for the punk revival.
Stupid Kid was released in 2001 and it was certainly on mainstream radio and took them from the Empty Bottle to Warped Tour and opening slots in Arena's pretty quickly.
Rare shit right here! Nice upload!
