What ENGLAND could learn from SCOTLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Scotland traditions are easy to make jokes about but I genuinely believe they offer more than just a party. I love being Scottish and you should love being English.

I recommend leaving the UK in 2025. It's a very stressful place to live and I predict this is just the beginning. You only get one shot at life and I'm not spending it working for barely any money helping other people become millionaires. F that! Buy Me A Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/educatingkate
THE UK IS A DYSTOPIA SO I LEFT | A discussion with Daryl Solis about emigrating from Scotland.
Переглядів 17 тис.Місяць тому
2 Months ago Daryl Solis uploaded a video to UA-cam titled "THE UK IS A DYSTOPIA AND I AM LEAVING SOON". It currently has over 740K views with people all over the UK (and the world) commenting about how they feel the UK has lost a lot of its charm and hope. Wage stagnation, unachievable property prices (even for houses that no one would want to live in) and a lack of social capital mean Britain...

I think the devaluation of moral values has led to the degradation of society. What politicians allow themselves now was impossible 40-50 years ago. I don't know if it can be stopped.

well the thing is people don't want to work hard for their way of life. They want an easy path to riches. Nothing is free, nobody will hand you much of anything. In rare cases people who have much will generously give to the poor. However what do you expect? A life full of fantastic wealth? You have to earn that. You want to just get by? Put in the minimal effort. Alright queue the hate comments.

Left leaning is why the UK is in the way that it is. Stop being LEFT LEANING! You are creating the captor that is torturing you. Wake up. This will continue until you do.... all of your story was sad. The government is paid for by you and their job is to protect and to provide a decent quality of life for you, and the government, that you hired, has failed in their job. I was left now I am much happier and I realize truth as a conservative. Hard core all the way.

The UK economy is completely dysfunctional. It’s completely designed for two income households. If you’re single there’s no chance you’ll be able to afford your own house or any standard of living. One of the worst things is that rent is way higher than a mortgage too so becoming a home owner is even more difficult as it’s almost impossible to save anything meaningful. House prices in the north are a lot more accessible than London and the south but the wages are proportionately less too so 🤷🏼‍♂️

I hate to be that guy, but you're being ripped off. I've lived in HK for over 15 years. You can get a lot better for $7K. A sublet flat like yours shouldn't go for more than $3K, especially since you have to share a bathroom.

I moved to London in 2016, started with Domino’s as “delivery expert”, joined security and got a stable job within months. I was lucky enough to move up the ladder, first supervisor and then manager in medium sized shopping centre and life started to look stable. Then I started to realise how people under my supervision/management were treated by the system. Just because a person was European, they were forced to “prove their legal status” by removing them from E&R in potentially life threatening situations. Then I saw a fresh graduate with two U.K. degrees earn 25k a year, while I was making 32k as my starting position of manager (with one degree from third world country). Then I realised, despite being clearly mentioned 2.5% raise a year, I didn’t get any raise in 3 years. Then I saw my U.K. born white colleagues struggling with their daily routine, living from pay check to pay check, I opened my mouth just a tiny bit that if this is for real, I been told by these people running on hamster wheels that I was wrong, I was living in the best country in the world, and that problem was with me, the immigrants. To be honest, I am very open and very positive about most aspects of life and even complete strangers can bring their stress on to me and I do my best to help them feel better. Then i realised that if my job, which was my happiness, was actually started to drain my energy, I decided to take action and move back to Finland (I am an immigrant from third world country who moved to Finland in 2005 until 2016). Since 2022 I am living back in Finland and I can see things are changing here as well. But thank God, it is about 30 years behind where U.K. currently stands and I wish it never advances the same path U.K. took. Lots of good wishes for your journey, hope you stay strong and healthy. Life is like running water, if you can’t swim against current, go with the flow or even staying afloat will do the work until you get a chance to move forward.

I'm of the generation just before yours. You've had it tougher than me because you had higher university fees and were in Covid for your uni years. But we're both "lost generations". I was sick of working a horrible job for the lowest possible wage. The company was technically just outside of London, so I was living in London without the London 'boost' in wages. I was staying with my mum and giving her a third of my take-home pay for rent (£500 a month; a good deal because it was as much as I would pay to rent a bedroom anywhere else at the time [lol those days of £500 for a bedroom are long gone in London now]). After a year of doing that and trying to find better work elsewhere I saw that I was stuck in a mill I wasn't going to escape from. So I did the same as you. Moved to China out of desperation. Spent 6 beautiful years there actually *living* without worrying about starving. I learned a new language, learned about the problems and benefits of a society that was run in a completely different way to the one I'd grown up in. Technically earned less than I was in the UK, but saved more. Moved back, started freelancing using the skills I'd learned. Business tanked during Covid. Found a job I enjoyed even more in the public sector in a city I could afford to live in, just about. Now, fortunes are looking pretty tenuous for me again, the way things are going in the world. But I think our generations (yours and mine) have been born into a really bad situation that has made us more resilient to unpredictable adversity than previous generations. So I'm confident that whatever is thrown at us next, we will find a way through it. Anyway, know that we've broken most of the predictions sociologists have made about us and that you're in good company.

generally young people should be filled with inspiration creativity and hope , i m not sure money is the main reason for frustrations ( shared by many all over the globe ) , inequality on the real estate market , uninspiring jobs - too long days in front of screens , an arid environment where money become the main object of pursuit . Social media with too much comparison and negativity , lack of sleep ???? As young in the 80s I backpacked on a shoestring for 6 years , as maturing in EU I traveller inward : meditating , it connects me with the nature of my being , the inner peace and happiness , shared with everyone and everything . May your travells bring you lots of joy , peace and happiness may you find what you are searching for ❤

Traditionally women married men who would buy them a house in exchange for their assistance and loyalty. They didn’t live alone and then go into debt and then expect to be allowed to not pay back the loan. Also people who couldn’t manage emigrated sometimes at a high risk to their life to have a better opportunity elsewhere. That’s why America Canada New Zealand Australia and South Africa exist. So no. The UK is not dying. You are living in opposition to tradition and wondering why it doesn’t work. In reality you are alive. So it is working. You’re just not happy. Happiness is not a right. That’s a personal choice.

Very similar to you. I’m a 35 year old English woman, studied at uni during Covid. Before that I lived in China and Japan doing the TEFL thing - money was just for fun! Now I’m back in the UK, working as a teaching assistant, making pennies. I have a baby and partner now, so hopping to another country to teach English doesn’t sound stable to me anymore. If it wasn’t for my partner we wouldn’t be able to own a house, but the mortgage is sky high, we never have anything left for leisure. We’re toying with the idea of migrating but it’s more complicated as a family.

Not trying to be edgy or funny here, but another problem with the English tying nationality to a football team that in reality, it manifests as working class English people cheering on a team of Africans managed by a German.
