Whatever Happens I'm Running A Season's BEST - Person Al Best
I ran the RunThrough Newcastle 10k a year ago and ran a fast time
That was last year, I'm taking the pressure off and I'm simply going to enjoy the run. Soak in the atmosphere, talk to lots of runners and bring some laughs.
The course along Newcastle's Quayside is flat and fast, a great place to run a personal best.
I will be running as hard as I can but if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen, you can only give it your all on the day.
Watch here to see the course, the friendly people of the North East of England, drone footage of a beautiful sunrise over the city, AFC Bournemouth's bus, my favorite marshal and the love for person_al_best

Another great video Al, it was great to speak to you at the start , our chat about comparison being the theif of Joy. Also a big shout out to your support team as it was baltic down near the river , It took me about 3 K in to start to get warm . So your girls must have been frozen to bits, so well done to them .
@@johnmichaelcrossen4582 thank you John, I love making these videos. Oh you're so right, huge shout out for my girls. Megan was actually becoming poorly from it so we got her to a cafe sharpish with hot chocolate and as much breakfast as she's wants. Those 2 are my reason for everything
Great vid Al, really captured the great atmosphere of the day. Also happy to get in another of your vids (that was me shouting at 11:28). Keep up the great work 👏
Ah this week the Seb Egg is at the 7k marker. Now that was much more subtle. Where will you be next time? Thanks mate, glad I've managed to capture the atmosphere of the event 👍
Well done ,so humbling just watching you run your own race and finishing strong , keep up with the great video
Thank you. It would be easy to compare to last years race and be bitterly disappointed with my time but with a change in mindset it was head up, smile and enjoy the event
Great video Al, well done ❤
Thank you Paul, it was alot of fun making this one
@ clearly, it also showcased the event.
@@Paulrunsdaily that's what I love to do so it's great to hear this
Nice job. Even saw myself chatting with you. 😊
@@trevorchaytor4068 I had so many people wanting to chat to me it was amazing
Quality vid mate, shocking hi 5 😂
@@just_jono I blame myself, took my eye off the prize
why have I only just seen this channel its brilliant subbed for sure now binge watching lol
@@Ruffnreddyrunner aw Mark you've just made my day. I don't know why you haven't found me earlier, must be youtube hiding me from the masses. I'm coming for Mr Beast now though. Yeah I agree, I think this channel is brilliant too, especially that giant fella .
@ modest too 😂
@Ruffnreddyrunner 😄😄 I can't be serious for a second
Did I just see a crocodile
@@johnlee7705 you did, that's Keith the Teeth. He's a terrible Parkrun volunteer, even in the high vis as more runners start then finish when he's in his pond 🐊
Yes Al!! Another great video and I loved the subtle ‘Seb Egg’, it was so subtle I almost missed it 😂😉 Thanks mate 👍
@@sebadkin3773 I'm a very subtle person. Shocked you spotted it. You'll be the only one Seb Egg! 😉😄🐣
Nice work Al! Which chest mount you using for this? Most I see are not very effective but your video looks great 👍
It's an old GoPro one I had which I've adapted to work with the Insta360. Thanks Freddy, probably looks good as my chest is everyone else's head height 😆
Another great video Al, I really enjoy your content. Was buzzing on Saturday that my perseverance despite the cancellations and cold meant I got to see you at the Riverside parkrun . I did try to say hi and tell you I enjoyed your content but it was rather breathless while approaching the end so I most likely made little sense. Looking forward to seeing more content 👍🏃
Ah thanks Seb! You saw me in the wild, that's so cool Totally understand as during Parkrun I can't put 2 words together 😆 Look out for the next installment as the frozen Riverside was filmed What point did you overtake me? I could look for it and sneak it into the new episode as a Seb Easter Egg 😆
@ It was at the final corner, I was wearing a blue top and hat. Overall a very enjoyable parkrun and one I’ll definitely be doing again.
@@sebadkin3773 it's a lovely course isnt it and you get the chance of swan hurdles with Colin

@@trevorchaytor4068 ah Sunderland fan by chance?
@personalbest yes. How did you guess? That's why I gave you all those upgrades a few years ago!
I've just spent the last nine days binge watching all your videos, starting with the very first one. It was not time wasted. I live in a small town in Panama. There are no Park Runs. No running clubs near me and I do all my running on my own and I have never run a race. I think that is why I enjoyed watching your running and socialising so much. I will be doing my first half marathon in June in Ireland. I will be visiting England and Ireland in June and July so hopefully I will be able to do my first Park Run also. Now I have no more videos to watch and I will have to wait until you publish your next one like everyone else.
Fantastic Kevin, you must be my first binge watcher. Any favourite moments? You'll love Parkrun and the community feeling.
Happy new year bud wishing you good health and more running mate ❤
@@brandonkennedy5848 thanks mate, happy new year
Happy new year Al! Will we see you at the GNR this year?
Happy New Year Freddy. Oh yes, I wouldn't miss the Great North Run for anything. Returning for my hatrick year
Is this Chester le street park??
It is Phillip, the swans make this Parkrun much more fun
@personalbest ah knew I recognised it,awesome!! I live 20mins away from it, one of my favourite parks to visit except when the cricket is on!! 🤣
@@phillipwallace1178 I'll always be found down Chester Park running around. It's a great place. Also nice and flat 😉😊
I used to train around this area in the 90s when I ran for the Sunderland harriers, brings back memories. Great video 👍 do you have a Strava account? I'll give you a follow if you have 😊
Thank you, I hadn't thought about viewers also being interested in places they use to run around. That climb was nuts. Al Hagar Person_al_best
@personalbest I used to live in Barmston for 18 years, so I know that whole area very well. I moved to France a while back, so it's always nice to see where I used to live, and train. Thanks 👍

Ace video and well done and so glad in the end you loved it. I was there too in a team of three and back this year as a solo. The weather last year was awful but kinda fun so getting out every lap and to just keep going you should be mega proud of yourself.
Aw thank you. I was in a relay with Scots and they all said they've never seen rain like it. It did add to my battle though as it was enjoyable fighting through so much and still standing at the end. I am proud of that 24 hrs and not having anything like it this year I feel I've missed something
@@personalbest yes it was very wet but oddly that but I don’t really remember 🤷♂️. Just that it was hard and it hurt. But so so glad you enjoyed it and it is a major accomplishment 👏👏👏👏👏. Bragging rights for life 👍
That's a good looking cake...
Wonder who made it 🤔
@personalbest someone very nice who likes you a lot
Hi Al. UA-cam decided that I should watch your "Running through time" video. UA-cam was right. I had a smile on my face all the way through it. I have now scrolled right back to your first video to start a few days of binge watching. I will check in again when I have watched them all. wish me luck.
@@koconnor oh wow thank you. I'm glad to hear UA-cam is now recommending me. You'll have an amazing person_al experience watching the journey so far and how my videos hopefully keep getting better. Please keep me informed of your journey and if you like it, subscribe my friend 😊
Are they shooting peasants or pheasants? I couldn’t hear
It looked like a pheasant fell out of the tree and into the river for a gundog to fish out but I suppose it could of been a peasant hiding up there
Wooo! Fitness!
Wooo! Added danger! 😄
Don't put eye out Al! 😊
The drama is real

Brilliant Al, that ending had me in tears!
Thanks Rich, it got me too. To me it was a beautifully emotional ending. Glad that came across
Well done ,keep it going 👍
@@ThomasGroves-so3px thanks mate. I'm stubborn so all I know is to keep going
A great look back Al and a fantastic montage to admire when we’re too old to run anymore! Onwards and upwards to the next milestone now? 250 👀 On a serious note I’m just about two years into my running journey and I wish I knew the clarity of thought it gives a long long time ago! It’s hard to explain to non runners the flow you get into in your mind when you’re pounding the streets but I love it! I could fix the Middle East crisis when I’m running. Just can’t remember how once I stop and life seeps back in! Keep it up mate and well done! 💪
Totally mate, that clear of thought I sort out so much in my busy mind and it all then makes sense. I often forget im running
Go on Al !!! 😂😂😂You’ve done amazing!!! Proud of you 👏 You never give up!!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know. This is brilliant, so pleased you found one of my videos and enjoyed it. You've made my day 😊
If running was bad for your knees we wouldn’t see nearly as many people 80 years and older completing marathons every year.
@@wesleytwiggs7687 it's such a weird thing for none runners to say
You've just given me an epiphany with the knees thing! What you say makes complete sense - thank you

You did brilliantly - Your favourite marshal 😊
@@VivienAnnEwles-qn4fq haha you've found me! 'Come on, get a move on!' Love it 😍
The one that annoys me is 'run slower to run faster'. Well the thing is when I run slower I run slower! I just get it. I have to run faster to run faster, who are these people who run slower to run faster?? And why are they always in front of me?
😄 🤣 😂 yeah that one's so bizarre. Run slower run further will make you run faster?...
