I’m seeing them on October 25th so excited it be my second time Ty for posting
You're very welcome! The show is fantastic.
One of my favorite bands for 45 years! I didn't even know they were touring and in my own state! Hope you had fun.
It was awesome! Had always wanted to catch them live! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Oh man. We saw them live here as the warm-up band for Chicago in 1977! Thanks so much for posting!!
Wow! It was spectacular last night! I can only imagine how great that '77 performance was! Thanks for watching and commenting, Mike!
@@TennesseeMountainBees zoh heavens. The thrill is mine seeing you'd posted this!
Where's the "B"s ha ha😊
I had on my 628 Dirt Rooster hat. Lol
I have one in my back yard and I live in south GA I have cut it down to the ground at lest 25 times it grows back every time one of the strongest trees I've ever seen
At your latitude, I bet they are hardy! Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
So fascinating!! ❤ 🐝
Thank you kindly! Glad you enjoyed it.
00:12:00 big bird house 😂
Birds didn't even give it a 2nd look.😅 The honey bees took right to it, though. Of course, I locked 'em in a few days. 😆
@TennesseeMountainBees * missing your fall follow-up video
Any update video on bees and storms 🫠
The flooding was east of us. We did get over 5 inches of rain in 3 days. Wasn't as windy here as expected. Bees did fine and are working hard now that the rain has stopped. Goldenrod blooming heavy. Haven't made any videos lately, but I might get some footage soon. Thanks, Frank, for checking in.
@@TennesseeMountainBees * I was starting to think youtube shadow bannded you!
Why didnt u do this at night genius?
Bald faced hornets will attack a threat at night. I wanted to be able to see, and the daylight hours offered the best opportunity. And even though the video footage was far from spectacular, it seems it would have been worse at night. Thanks for watching and commenting!
How can u protect tree from freezing..my limbs die in winter..base starts growing in spring..
USDA hardiness zones are 6-9. If you're north of zone 6, it will not thrive.
Thank you kindly for watching and commenting.
Mimosa trees are so invasive in Sacramento Valley. Not native in the USA. Do not plant. Eradicate.
In some areas, they're hard to control gore sure. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
great info, thank you! Eva
My pleasure! Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
That’s champ tree in Lexington is indeed still there but it has taken sone storm damage in the past decade or 2… it was nearly perfect around 2000. It’s still very impressive, it’s planted at the grave of Henry clay
Awesome! Thanks for the info!
That was a big nothing-burger....
Sure, Superman could have handled that without a bee suit! LOL
Sir, please help us from where should we get this hornet suit , waiting your reply sir.

I agree it should have been removed sooner. The video would have been better, too. I wasn't aware they had a memory. Hopefully, their offspring don't have a BOLO out on me. Lol
Nope nope nope nope nope nope..... where's my flame thrower at????
Great idea!
Lucky for him that nobody was home. Even in that suit, I wouldn't want them swarming around me.
There were several in the hive but not as many as I'd feared. Without the Guardian suit, I would have taken at least a dozen stings. Video didn't really do it justice. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Might want to try using a mix of water and dawn dish soap sprayed from a distance before just kicking the snot out of the hornets nest. :-)
Great idea! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I had a few YellowJacket nests in the ground and had to pour gasoline in the holes right before dark to get rid of em.
Yes. I've done that many times. Yellow jackets are evil! Thanks for watching and commenting!
thank you
You're very welcome! Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
Do it at night! They don't fly in the dark. I set light to them and they never return!
That would definitely work! Great tip. Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
They DO fly at night!
Bob Binnie says it makes good honey
Yes, and he said it has an orange tint. I'd like to try some, but only a few mimosa trees around here for my bees. Thank you kindly for watching and commenting.
abandoned nest 😅
It is abandoned now for sure🤣
Where are the hornets?
There weren't too many left in the nest by the time I tore it down. Kind of hard to see them. Thanks for watching and inquiring.
love mimosa, wish I could grow them, in ohio there are a few in peoples yards but I tried to grow them they did not do well.
Maybe just a bit too far north. Generally do well in zones 6 to 10. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Grandparents had one by kitchen.
I remember many more as ornamentals a few decades ago. Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
Mimosa limbs make great garden poles and quickly grow back from a big pruning. You can jam a turnip or potato on a long limb if you do it just the right way and you can throw them 300 yards. Ha! It seems like every shovel full of forest soil I used in my garden and in pots has about 100 of the seeds in it even if there are no trees in the immediate area.
Great tip on the 300 yard throw! Thanks so much for watching and commenting !
Great video Johnny. Good to see you, hope your season is going good.
Thank you kindly, Tim! The excessive spring rains limited the bees' ability to work, but they're doing pretty good now!
Love your Trees & Honeybees series! We just had a house built on our soon to be homestead and have been trying to find as much info on the different trees that grow well in the Southeast and plan to start several of the ones you've mentioned to help out our apiary as much as possible. Keep up the great work!
That's awesome! If you don't have some there already, I'd recommend Red Maple, Black Locust, Tulip Poplar, and White Flowering Crabapple, just to name a few. I sincerely appreciate the feedback. Thank you kindly for watching and commenting.
Morning Johnny, good to see ya buddy.
Thanks so much, DC!
We was watching a video the other day on the mimosa tree and it's benefits. The ol' boy has a good channel explaining all the health benefits from trees and shrubs in the South. It's great to see you back at it with the Trees and Honeybees series! Thanks for putting this together and sharing it with folks. Y'all take care and God bless!
Thanks so much, Tim! I really appreciate your support, brother. God bless y'all!
we got tons of them around here about 8 miles south of oneida they are invasive. bob binnie talks about them as a nectar source. i havent seen honeybees work them much could be because there are other more preferable nectar sources around here
Yes, I saw Bob's video. He indicated Mimosa could add 15 pounds of honey to colonies if sufficient Mimosa is present. He says it tastes great. I'm not seeing many bees on the blooms here either. They are preferring white clover and sunflowers. Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
@@TennesseeMountainBees could be different in his area mine are workin white clover and sourwood is blooming and sumac is soon to be done
@joekuder Sumac just about to bloom here. My bees love the Winged Sumacs
There is a mimosa I witnessed today in the back yard that does not have a single bloom on it but was covered with bees getting something off the leaves. A few dirt dobbers also.
Interesting! Honeydew maybe?
Thanks for another informative and interesting video
You're very welcome! Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
Horticulturist say it’s a junk tree and don’t plant it. Short lived tree and invasive.
I would never argue with a horticulturist but will say they'd have a difficult time documenting the invasive nature of Mimosa in my area. They simply do not out compete local flora. As I often say, one man's weed is another man's flower. True they are relatively short lived, but to honey bee colonies, it might as well be an eternity. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
@@TennesseeMountainBees the thing is it’s not about the man. It’s it’s impact on natives. Man has caused a lot of problems by introducing non native species. Vitex is very invasive in rocky creek bed areas but I have 5 and never see any wild ones around here in our sand. It does depend on the area.
Its very useful medicinally and I know its not invasive where i live. Invasive is defined by area meaning its invasive in one place but belongs in other places and has very good uses.
There was one on my block where I grew up 50 years ago. It’s still there & still the only one in town
@@johnblaze5252 Awesome!
Have you tried it with gelatin like Kamon did in his updated recipe?
No, but will check it out. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Love your trees and bees videos! My Grandma had a mimosa and it was so pretty! I've always wanted to plant one but I've heard they can be invasive.
Yes, they are considered invasive but that's not been my experience here. They do not seem to out compete local flora. Thanks so much for watching and for the great feedback!
As a quick tip- mix together all your dry ingredients first. Put them aside as you did with the pollen sub. It makes for better distribution of your Apis in the patties as you mix them.
Yes. I agree. I learned why my cakes never turn out. Lol. Thank you kindly for the feedback!
Nature and tree so real the breathe of life with God in every thing he is the author ❤ of the earth every green ❤ love o

Great to bring the boy in! Nice job. I've been wondering about marking the lids. Wondering if it might reduce drifting?
Thanks, Mike! Joseph wanted his hive to look different. It's great to have his help in bee yard!
Oh looks like she got ya under the thumb nail ya those hurt good.😂Hi Johnny and Joseph.
Lol. Yes, that one hurt way worse than usual. 😀
Hey Johnny good to see you filming content, teaching the next generation of bee keepers
Thank you kindly! Joseph is learning fast and getting more comfortable around the bees. It's great to have his company working the hives.

WOW, I bet the bees love that.😁Hi Johnny, good to see ya bud. Blessed Days...

Planted sunflowers April 16th the same day as buckwheat. Thank you kindly for watching
