    There are too many options to list them all for the wonderful oat! Banana, walnut, and peanut butter for a Chunky Monkey vibe - strawberries and chocolate chips for a Valentine’s breakfast - mango and coconut in the summer by the pool for a tropical twist - and on the savory side, anything that makes a great risotto can make a great oatmeal as an alternative that cooks in 1/4 of the time with little effort. I prefer sweet for overnight since I usually eat them cold on the run but still hard to go wrong.

    My favorite make-ahead meal is the Korean rice bowl bibimbap. I make quick pickles, stir fried vegetables, and soft boiled braised eggs in advance. Before work I top a Tupperware full of cooked rice with my toppings and some kimchi. It’s delicious and healthy and fast and very customizable.

      @@1Dish2Ways my daily breakfast of a mix of oat groats/farro/wheat berries and other grains, mix of greens (I know it sounds weird, but you get used to it, and now it tastes great), legumes (usually tempeh or tofu), fruits (a mix but always berries), ground flax seeds, cinnamon, amla powder, some turmeric and black pepper... so I get my fruit/veg/seeds/legumes/grains all in one meal... it is a great way to start the day.... keeps me satiated for hours. It is a huge bowl to fit it all in!!! I love leftovers for lunch that include one-pot soups/stews/chiles etc... and then for dinner it is usually a big salad with tons of greens/veggies/some fruit ie grapes or satsumas with nut, legume, or vinegar-based dressing and sometimes some grains...

    Sheila, I’m cooking SAD for my husband too. Just curious, do you feel like the things going into his diet could be killing him knowing what you know? I feel that way even though he insists on eating those things. I know some women just won’t cook for him. I’m not that way and neither are you. What are your reasons?

    • @1Dish2Ways
      @1Dish2Ways 3 місяці тому

      I cannot make anyone change so I include more of the good things for him. I make multiple veggies each night I cook, fruit for dessert or a fruit bowl to go with his weekend breakfast, raw veggies as a snack while we cook dinner. So let me show you how I put that into action: Monday - salad and peas to go with a meat he grills, peaches for dessert Tuesday - Raw celery, carrots, radishes with green beans with a meat, strawberries and grapes for dessert Wed - Asparagus and corn stir-fry with a meat, applesauce for dessert Thurs - Salad, roasted zucchini & potato with a meat, pears for dessert Fri - a big stir fry with all the veggies leftover from the week with any of his leftover meats Sat - he will make his bacon, eggs, and toast then I serve a fruit salad with strawberries, grapes, blueberries, pineapple I hope this helps.
