    Gurren lagann literally saved my life. I was Rossiu, and about to quit. I randomly found TTGL. Watching TTGL got me to believe I could go on. Got me thinking "future me believes in me, so I can too". Now that I am future me I do believe in past me. I went from 0 spiral power to a place in my life where I can encourage others to get back up and pierce the heavens. Never give up, you can do it, I believe in you.

    I think it's worth mentioning in the movie when Simon goes down to fight the anti-spiral 1v1 Lagann literally throws Simon into the fray. The anti-spiral always fight on an "equal" field so the anti-spiral engages in a fist fight but there's one thing they never expected that Simon's will to be stronger than their own. while it may be what is framed as a misguided effort by the anti-spiral to shut down the universe it is implied they truly believe the universe will end if they don't halt evolution, it took a lot of strength and willpower for them to dominate and subjugate not only themselves but every spiral race. Yet there was one thing they couldn't defeat Simon's determination to live up to the destiny he and Kamina laid out together. even as they die their final words are "protect the universe at all costs" to which Simon responds "of course humanity isn't that stupid."

    gurren lagaan shaped me so much. I watched this show when i was just a kid and it really crystallised what the whole series is referring to. That deep irrational faith in that you can get through it all, with the right fighting spirit. I love rewatching GL when I feel like my spirit is fading and I don’t feel passion and fire in my life. It’s been a reference point reminding me to always have faith in myself and to be alive is to go forward and give it everything.

    I would say the ending can have a lot of interpretation. But I would love to think the same as you. Cause that's a true escape and a way to a normal or better life. Maybe Sachi after hearing what others think of him, she could get to understand Punpun better. But what if it's just another pit... Sachi haven't saved him cause she felt responsible or guilty, but to put Punpun back to his "role" in her life. In this context "You're mine and mine alone" has a hugely different vibe to it.

    This show was the last time death was an integral part of the plot, since then death is treated as a gag, or whenever a character 'dies' a few episodes later are revived, or death was faked as part of some mastermind strategy.

    Re was by far the worst anime I’ve watched but the manga was so fucking good I still did prefer the original and the latter half of re because I don’t like the re cast that’s just a preference but it was so much better with anteiku I also only realised after my second time reading Tokyo ghoul after reading re but touka proposed to kaneki in the church when fighting tsukiyama and kaneki didn’t know due to him being new to the world of ghouls but she was fully aware

    At the 4:00 minute mark I disagree. Simon’s mech (and by extension Simon) isn’t the driving force of team Gurren Lagen. It’s a tool for humanity to survive as long as humanity is able to be courageous enough to wield it. Hence Simon embodying Kamina’s will. Humanity earned its fighting chance but our they willing to grab it. Kamina pushes everyone to grab onto hope and push forward to a better future and that is the true purpose of tengen toppa

    I've really found a strong appreciation for videos like this (even if he talks needlessly slow and I have to watch on 2x speed to keep my sanity) where people explain why stories that are objectively poorly written are treasured by them. While these stories may be completely unreadable and unwatchable to me, I can still understand how others find appreciation for it when videos like this. I think a big part of it comes from the amount of suspension of disbelief and tolerance any individual has. Like it's completely bullshit how Spiderman's powers work, but I can just ignore it to enjoy a Spiderman story. However I could also understand if other can't enjoy a Spiderman story because they can't buy into the objectively nonsensical premise.

    12:32 what are those bad things? We need specificy so there isn't much to interpret. From what i'm getting he's a man stuck between his people and the end of Trillions of lives so, it's not exactly easy to pick the "good option". He is dealing with the trolly problem where no answer is really rightious.

  • @alexcat6685
    @alexcat6685 Місяць тому

    11:44 did it? You may not how but you did know the criteria ofcourse not keeping track or bothering with alterative solution would result in a "unxpected" destruction. You were warned, failed to come up with something better so you get consequences.

    11:41 well that energy will be the end of the universe when it goes past the limit, killing basically infinite of Lives, they aren't so wrong.

  • @alexcat6685
    @alexcat6685 Місяць тому

    3:07 under playing it aren't you? Why? Why is Anderus so much lesser than Kaminas. Kaminas too can become quite detructive and it did, it led to the end of universe just so he could watch his mess tear it apart. Both have good and bad points to their ideology but seeing that for some reason aleast generally the beastmen are just men, no women and more importantly because you talk about this beastmen like this tells me they weren't well written. Like they good concept of showing a Flaw in Kamina's belief while still being flawed themselves. Why do they believe in the others that believe in them to the extreme, rather than use that basis to race the expectaitons of yourself? Apperantly the humans don't actually engange with because that would mean actually understanding te balance of confidence and Humility, confidence can easily become Arrogance as you ingore the reality around you. Humility can be couvter intutive, as focusing on others can forget you can't do that if you can't focus on your self. A good deal that should led to, ROW ROW CONTROL THE POWER. The power is needed but it can't just be built infinetly without a limit it'll destroy anything worthwhile.(which yeah that happens as you gotta understand, due to luck sometimes you can't see the invisble or stop the unstoppable, but that doesn't you can't use your powah) Veruk should've and I hope he did find the balance of caring for his people's safety in stopping the constant danger of SPiral power while also understanding to not be too oppressive on those who want him to also be. Kamina should've understood while his dream is a grand aspiration, innocents are worth it, including the beastpeople.(atleast the show should've done more focus on rather than leave it as a bummer)

    I think calling what punpun feels for Aiko „love“ is completely wrong. He was obsessed with her bc of his childhood trauma. Punpun does not love himself therefore he cannot know what love really feels like. When Aiko kills herself, it is heartbreaking not bc he loses the love of his life, but bc he no longer has a sense of self. He lost the thing that kept him going… the obsession with the idea of a girl that was already gone for a long long time.

    I probably sound a like a broken record but I still heavily enjoyed season 1, but man my disappointment was immeasurable for 2 and the rest, I hope the recent 10th anniversary thing is going to be a reboot or a proper season that ignores the other crap that happened, the thing is I’m the type of person who prefers watching a show as opposed to reading, I’ve read the book for outsiders, enjoyed it but I enjoyed the movie more simply because everything was actually moving, I enjoy reading but I way prefer a viewing experience, that’s why I don’t see myself reading the manga for a while, but I’ve heard everywhere that the manga is a classic, this deserves an adaptation because I loved season 1, I know a lot of fans defend the first season and I can see why, it was great, I just hope a reboot can now be set in because of the anniversary, great video my boy
