the only way to know is to try. madaming factors that either can hold or not hold the red color - age, diet, water quality, light exposure including light's intensity, UV content, etc. bawat SR kasi iba iba, at the same time iba iba living conditions from one keeper to another. So if it holds without tanning, good. kung hindi mag hold, then may important factors na either wala, or kulang.

But if you want to try you may, just closely observe its effect on the fish especially on its behavior and appetite. The highest specs of light I used for golden arowana is 10000Kelvin.

Thank you! it depends on the fish's tolerance of the light (assuming it is placed on the side). I normally place the light on the side for 3-7days just to let the fish adjust to the new structure. Then we start at 3 hours a day for some days and if there are no negative changes in the fish's behavior and appetite, we gradually increase the number of hours. We sometimes do 24 hours however we also want to view the fish especially when doing WCs and while feeding.

@@JMRedAro My tank is 7x2.5x2.5ft and see through front and back as it’s in the living room. Will be placing the light in 45 degree at the side of the tank wall. So just gradually increase the number of hours till 24hrs right ? Is 3hrs of break from light for the fish okay ?

@@IWIMugriwara again this will depend on how the fish will react to it. we always pay attention to stress signs such as but not limited to: clamped fins, parking, appetite loss. when we feel the fish is not ready, we stop.

you can however it might be best to couple it with water changes using aged water. observe closely. if the fish show signs of stress, always be ready to stop tanning or reduce the number of hours, or address their stress. water changes, water quality, water temperature has to be considered. also observe if tanning for 24 hours really maximizes the fish's potential to color or the opposite.

your call naman sir. marerecommend ko lang na palakihin na muna bago i-tan (with strong light, side placement) kasi babagal growth. but always call mo yan sir. observe closely kung ano magiging effect lalong lalo na sa mentality at appetite.

I dont know about the explanation, it just works for my fishes even if my lights are outside the aquarium. same goes with the lights outside of the aquariums of my friends and our counterparts in indonesia. If you found a way to better tan super red arowanas with other lights apart from what we use, kindly publish it to help us learn and explore new technologies.

kung sa pwede, pwedeng ipilit boss. yung nga lang mas madali magkaroon ng problema dahil sa fluctuating na water parameters, temperature, etc. mas malaking volume ng tubig, mas stable ang parameters. and mapupunggok lang ang arowana dahil generally malaki talaga sila. kaya din kasama sila sa classification ng monster fishes.
