The Year Long Battle for COVID-19 Presumption for Texas First Responders | SB 22
Переглядів 2242 роки тому
Since early 2020, CLEAT has led the effort to make COVID-19 a presumptive illness for all first responders. In March of 2020, CLEAT Executive Director Charley Wilkison asked the governor for an executive order as our first responders were unable to “shelter in place" while the rest of the nation shut down. This executive order never came and CLEAT battled its way through the legislative process...

The Fight for COVID Presumption | One Year Later
Переглядів 313 роки тому
One year ago, today, CLEAT Executive Director Charley Wilkison stood outside of the Texas Capitol and asked the Governor for an executive order that would make COVID-19 presumptive for first responders. No action has been taken and we are fighting for a change in the statute in the 87th Legislative Session. We were joined today by two widows of officers who died in the line of duty due to COVID...

CLEAT Questions Legality of “No Chase Policies”
What about Olmos Park PD, Leon Valley PD, San Antonio PD. Texas is at at will state, well except for law enforcement. They are “special”.
What makes them any more special than Fire or EMS, or, hell, physicians and nurses? Absolutely NOTHING!

Get ‘em, CLEAT. I’m a 30-year Austinite and am ashamed of our current governance. I guess I’m confused by the DA and AAD’s position. It has been my belief that law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office worked together, not at pre-determined odds. SMH.
And BTW. Can you look in detail at the case of Juan Sebastian Salto-Garcia, a recidivist who was released on PR (zero$$) by our DA and immediately continued his crime spree? It’s recent. There are details that the public deserves to know.
If you're so ashamed, leave.
@@npnnrtn I’m not leaving. It’s my HOME of 30-years. I’ve worked my butt off here. My husband and I came from nothing and we raised 2 great kids here, by HARD WORK. And I resent paying for your lifestyle and cleaning up your trash, feces and needles. Get a job, work hard.
@@kathycaldwell7126 then shut up! I work and live here as well, and just because you and yours are heartless, God-hating demons does not mean that the rest of us are.
The main problem is the pay. They get paid about 14 to 15 dollars an hour to deal with what they have to. They are under paid and over worked. Give them a raise with collective bargaining. If you pay them enough it will encourage people to stay and they will not be over worked.
But seriously, we need help at the jail! We need good hard working people with thick skin.

I thought unions were prohibited in Texas.
Dallas marshals are peace officers in texas but do not have the right to meet and confer. it is said that in state law city marshals are not allowed to be in the meet and confer because they are considered civilians. marshals are in full police uniform and on the same computer system as the dallas police department. they are held to the same standard as the police department but do not get the same benefits as the police department.
That awkward moment when your video has more thumbs down than up, and literally EVERY comment is dabbing on you...😬
Yeah CLEAT were totally "terrorizing" LEOs by demanding that they recognize that paper straws are legal in Texas, and other such matters of actually honoring their oaths. ua-cam.com/video/Lm0IwYb0Tnk/v-deo.html
Great Job CLEAT.
Thank you CLEAT for all you do for us
We don't need a police department.
Yall are POS encouraging tensions between communities and police. Y'all lobby against public interest. Sorry your feelings got hurt at any criticisms /s

I wish I had been with CLEAT in 2011. TMPA took my money monthly and then when I needed their legal help, dropped me ASAP. It's too bad I can't get a refund for all those years of the promise of legal assistance from TMPA.
unfortunately TCOLE believes that they themselves are indeed above the law. There is record where they have violated their own rules and procedures. It is very sad the arrogance and disrespect they show towards the peace officers of our state. Even if challenged, they claim there is no recourse towards them. It I'd written that there is no official penalty should they go against the grain if they violate their own rules. Very very very sad. A retired San Antonio Police Officer once told me TCLEOSE was created to insure all officers received the same training across the board. He added TCLEOSE (TCOLE) should not have the right to suspend anyone's license but rather suspensions should be handled by the officers agency.
After Layne Walker and the Hartman affair, I'd say they need a good housecleaning. Let's just hope she's not packing it with her own crooks.
