Welcome to our channel! We are just ordinary people who enjoy eating fresh foods that we grow and raise ourself. We live right on main street in a nice quiet town in Northern Indiana and If you follow along you will see videos of beekeeping, keeping backyard chickens, gardening, kunekune pigs, woodworking and whatever else trips our trigger into making a video. We ask everyone that watches to share your thoughts and ideas with us as go along. We are not experts in anything we do so constructive criticism is always welcome, rudeness will be ignored and prayed for. It has been fun meeting so many like minded people through youtube and we look forward to meeting you! Thanks for watching.

Small but spicy!! #honeybees #beekeeping
This little swarm landed on the stand I have done extra boxes on. It's a small swarm of honeybees but this early in the season they will have plenty of time to build up nicely.

How to light a bee smoker for a long burn. #beekeeping #honeybees

This is how I light and pack my be smoker for a long day in the bee yard. I have tried many things and different ways, but this is always my go-to. This provides smoke for hours, and as it burns down, you can just put in another handful or two of pine shavings.

Chickens are very cold tolerant but you have to protect them from wind, just don't let the wind in the coop and they will do fine, they perch in front of the window because of habit, they will continue to perch there even if it was rain pouring down on them
You should have shown how to lay out the stripes...and the finished flag in total instead of a zoom
The water should be outside if you can, chickens are messy drinkers and the splashed out water can ruin the hay you put down a lot quicker. Just a tad bit of advice from one farmer to another. Best of luck! ☺️
I agree, and it normally is outside, but with the temps this week, it freezes over in minutes.
@ dang, freezing up in minutes is crazy. I have a heated water source outside so the freezing over isn't a concern for me personally. All them little ladies look super happy and healthy tho, so I imagine you keep a close eye on their health. Best of luck to you and your flock!
@@Chris-ew7pb I try to keep them happy. Water this week for the pigs and chickens has been quite the hassle but that's just part of keeping livestock
Do you have insulation in the coops or is just straight wood?
Just wood. Nothing is insulated
They definitely don't waste anytime eating them tomatoes. Lol
Thank you so much for sharing. You have Blessed me.
I appreciate the time and detail you put into this. This is one of the best videos yet. You do great work and I’m very similar with my approach to my work. Well done
Thank you
I bought the Sb1850bn the gun came with oil. I used it for a little bit and then oiled it. Use it for about six more hours now it’s only shooting air will not shoot the nail. I took it apart slider and everything is moving fine nothing’s jammed. Should I try to take it apart and clean the oil out of it and put it back together or did I destroy my gun?
That model was notorious for broken drivers. If your driver and piston look good, I'd try cleaning it up. Just double check your air pressure first to make sure you were running enough pressure.
Beautiful!!
Thank you
Thanks, helped me out. The masking of the flag sucks. I would pay for a "tape layout" template of some sort to keep them the same.
Should be recalled or a class action against bostich. Thousands of reviews for the replacement part on Amazon these nailers are utter sh!te and bostitch knows it.
Brilliant video! Thanks!
Excellent build but I’m wondering why you left the real sharp edges on some of your waves? It seems the waves would look a bit more like actual waves had you rounded over both edges of all the waves …just curious. Very good explanations👍
I saw another flag with them like that and I liked the look. Believe it or not those sold faster than the ones with smooth waves. It just comes down to personal preference I guess. Thanks for watching!!
Thank you, sir. This is exactly the problem I needed addressed. Great video!
I didn’t notice when you put the curved relief cuts in towards the bottom. Can you give me an idea how you made them? And measurements?
I have one similar, a SB1664FN, and the driver comes out but does not return, or not far enough to clear the next nail head. Going to try this and I'll let you know. Many thanks.
So my gun (same model) will shoot 1 1/2 in nails and below fine. But wont fire a 2 in nail. Has plenty of air pressure. Any thoughts?
What stain did you use?? Water or oil base??? What dremel tool do you like???
No explanation of the taping?? It turned out great.
looks great Thank You!!
Mine Bostich and Dewalt are doing this. I am very disappointed in both.. morecwith DeWalt because I literally no joking, nailed two items and it' stopped working. Shame on both companies for making inferior products. At least when a product is Chinese made, we can say, well I paid peanuts for it..but when you spend $200 on TOOL ONLY, no battery nor charger, it just passes you off.
Did you use oem brand name nails? If you don't, it will jam.
Would it being gunked up cause the driver to not retract? I just got a jam recently with this nailer. Cleared the jam now it'll only shoot one nail then just air. The driver doesn't retract on its own like yours that you demonstrated @4:45
It's possible. I would tear it down and inspect all the parts, especially the head valve and piston ring.
I have been looking for a good video on making these. One suggestion to reduce bleeding is to score the line right on the edge of the tape.
Thanks!
Cover the ground underneath and out to 6” around the hive. Old or new roofing shingles work great. Don’t blow away. Cuts up the larvae as they try to crawl off to get to earth.
Thanks man! Great tutorial! I know this will save me one day!
I would love to know what wood stain you used to get the vibrant color
Is this all one piece of wood
I just bought a crown stapler, model SX 1838 and I've literally put about four or five sticks of staples through it. My stuff comes out of the box, gets used and then gets put back in the box closed up and put away every time. I'm the only one that uses it and it does not get thrown around. I pulled it out today and shot one staple and it quit working. I opened it up and the head valve was broken. I remember when Bostitch used to make really good staple guns. I first started using them at a furniture factory 25 years ago and would have the same gun for what seem like forever without issue. We had other brands, but the factory got a contract with Bostich and they became the coveted stapler and nailer among the workers. It's sad to see so many companies compromising on quality just for a little higher profit margin. The thing is that I don't know if it doesn't come back to bite them in the butt in the long run. I have always been willing to spend more money for what I believe is a quality lifetime tool and I imagine other people are like that. On the flipside when I become convinced that a company is cutting corners I start looking for a new company. Anyways, it's just a testament to where things have gone and how little people care about their name.
Great video, thank you Hanley! Real Helpful on my old Craftsman.
Thank you
Do you sell a pattern with instructions and dimensions… awesome beautiful. I am 75 and my father was a 100 percent disabled veteran from shrapnel in his neck and spine while fighting in the hedgerows in France…. Would like to make one for my daughter and grandkids…. Unbelievably classy
I do not. If you email me I send you a picture with measurements.
@@HanleysHomestead thank you for offering me to send the measurements…. I would love to make this. I am 75 and my daughter and grandkids for love this. You are sooo talented
@@HanleysHomesteadthank you for your offer. Can you send me the measurements?? Please.
You have a layout of the sizes ? Like digram ?
Send me an email, and I'll get you a picture.
Cool!
You said you have a problem with bleeding. Prior to staining, if you put just one coat of urethane on the parts that represent the white stripes and along the edges just use a smaller brush, you should avoid any bleeding. It worked for me, but, it's a bit time consuming. You would have to see if the time to profit ratio is feasible. If not, I really do like the torching the bleed areas. God bless and excellent work, sir
Nice work sir! Looks real! Keep up the awesome work and keeping that spirit alive!!
Thank you
Great tutorial. Looking forward to doing this project with my middle school woodshop classes.
Thank you for watching
Hey they not fat they chonky
Oh wow, thank you for sharing 😊
Oh wow, look at all those bees 🐝
i have a Bostich bt1850 variant of that nailer. I likely bought it around 2000-2001. i used it for the trim on a couple renovations between the 2 homes we've owned. it was sticking as well. I openned mine up today before watching this video and nothing really was wrong with it, other than possibly a few tiny pieces of wood chips in the valve head area... I wonder if it sucks in debris from the nailing when the driver retracts? I picked it out with a toothpick and reassembled it.... I'm doing about 60' of baseboard later this week. Will see if it can do the whole room without jamming. It would quit working about every 15 nails or so IIRC. I think there was a bit of silicone grease in there for the orings. I did not add any more.
I found my problem was I wasn't using bostich brad nails. Seems it only likes oem brad nails.
Love it 😃👍 .. have you ever done an British flag? 🇬🇧
I have not
Perfect. Beautiful work. You Sir are a craftsman.
Thank you
awesome. wee have 2 at the shop that they had fixed. 2 weeks ago. and are not working again. i'll take a look tomorrow
This sucks! I've been dealing with the same thing. I staple window screen over the open hole in the inner cover, which helps but not a cure
I hate it
7:07 Where on the flag does the white/red stripe meet the union at anything but something that's divisible by a 90-degree angle? It looks like the red+white+red stripes at the top are meeting the blue union at something like 60-dgrees. What am I missing?
Now sure your body so we can see how many times u got stung 😂
None during this one.
was thinking that would be a funny thing for the next Jack*ss movie or show if they ever revived it lol
My head valve exploded, plastic debris all over the inside of the cylinder. 😕
Yep, that happens. Might as well change out the piston ring while it's apart.
Beautiful work
Very nice craftsmanship, thanks for sharing
