Which one is Jake … 🤔
No Jake in this video.
Im amazed the drz400 shorts dont get more love
Of course there's a car in the ditch on the Kuranda Range Road. lol.
Great video mate, keep them coming if you can.
Looks like a good trip, hope everyone took enough fuel to get themselves across
Thank you , very sensible advice Dude 👍🏼
That looks like a great route that you can take over a couple of days to adjust just to get away 👍🏻
It really is!
Great video. So informative. Do you have an over map of where you rode?
My mate is trying to talk me into getting a desert race tyre,, I'm only on a 300 tpi , what would suggest for the 300 doing the fink and going for a place ?
I wouldn't suggest running a large desert race style tyre, anything over the 120 width I found to rob a lot of power from the 300. If you're having a serious crack, I'd go with a front mousse/ rear UHD tube combo.
Do you find the gear box a bit stiff like not buttery smooth?
I haven't owned this bike for over 2 years now but by memory there was nothing unusual or weird feeling about the gearbox on mine.
Great video! Glad you discovered the ADV side of riding. FYI, if you get a quadlock mount with a wireless charger and vibration damper you can use your phone as a GPS. I use a drone hood to shield mine from the sun as I navigate. The best Navi apps let you save maps so having signal isn’t necessary. The newest phones even have emergency call regardless of cell tower availability. Rode from surfers paradise to deep Queensland and back to Surfers paradise chasing after a girl as a youngster. The relationship didn’t last but the trip got me into the ADV lifestyle. And that’s lasted 22 years now 😅. Cheers from Arizona USA.
Thanks for watching. I've just purchased a quad lock set up minus the wireless charging as my phone doesn't have that ability. But my dash has usb charger so no problems there. I've really been enjoying using the GAIA app.
Looks like Dickos old Dr650
Not sure. I don't think so. I bought it off a guy in Townsville who's had it since near new
8:36 love those jeep tracks. How's the bushpig doing 7mo later? The fairing bit you have at the top of the windscreen is interesting, so much angle?
She's still going well and has knocked off a few good adventures since then. I'm still not sure exactly what that was for? Maybe to help block the sun off a gps unit. I've removed it and haven't noticed a difference yet.
@@loveoffroadaus awesome
Hey when running the mouse in the rear are you running double rim locks?
It would be a safer option to do that.
some how the youtube magical mystery tour fetch me here and i'm glad it did enjoyed watching your adventure 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!

Strange, I heard amber is best for orange sand to provide extra depth and rut/drop off edges visibility. Confused now.
Yep amber/rose tint works great in desert conditions, in the video I specifically speak about a yellow tint lense which I've had bad experiences with in the past.
Great vid, love those roads, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed
Hi, can you share Rex's contact number?
Hi, I don't have his buisness number sorry. His buisness name is Fuel Torque. Check out his Facebook page I believe his number should be on there. facebook.com/www.fueltorque.com.au?mibextid=ZbWKwL
I'll bet the 350f was +3 seconds faster👌🏼
We didn't actually time them. For me I'm quicker on a 4 stroke than 2 stroke. Unsure about Jack as the 350 was sprung about 30kg heavier than his bike.
Looks like you went in giant circle on the map drawing
I probably forgot to add the complete map in when I was finished. It was one big ride from Townsville to Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia. About 1800km all up, almost the complete length of the state.
That has to be so much fun id love to do that the bike is perfect for the roads your rinning
Was a great ride and very interesting to see all the different parts of queensland
That was awsome idear
Thanks for watching
Great video mate , a very good insight to the tour , how to you find the bikes ?
They DRZ's are bullet proof and perfectly suited to that type of riding. People bag on them when comparing them to new age enduro bikes but in my opinion the DRZ is better suited. Smoother and mellower power which doesn't tire you out but also teaches you to carry momentum and flow through the tracks. The soft suspension is really good when your riding for 6-8hrs a day, sure you could hit things faster with newer style suspension but you'd also be physically wrecked by lunch time. Bulletproof design, we rode these bikes through seat deep water multiple times without drowning one of them, I know the newer model KTM's easily drown with their open air box design. Personally I'd rather do this sort of riding on a DRZ rather than a KTM, but that's just my preference. I think your overall enjoyment on a cape tour mainly relates back to the tour company running the show, people on your tour (guides and customers) and your attitude on the tour (positive attitude and taking in the scenery and moments ad they come)
@Love Offroad thanks so much mate , really appreciate it , l have a klr which l do enjoy on the dirt ,nothing too rough , thinking of something lighter for a bit more fun , l tried the crf300l, l wasn't impressed, l no spring chicken 😀 maybe l will try the drz 👍
Based on everything I've heard from people who've ridden/ owned the crf300. It's quite overpowered and weighs the same as a drz400. The ABS on it can cause some issues for offroad as well. The only real positive seems to be low seat height for shorter people.
@@loveoffroadaus l will leave you alone after one more question , should l be concerned about the drz still running a carby ?
Don't stress mate, doesn't cost me anything to reply or try to help out. No I don't think so, once you have it jetted properly (they are very good stock) you won't really need to adjust it unless you start doing mods like exhaust or opening up airbox, or unless you have massive changes in elevation. The beauty of a carby they are easy to fix and can't really go too wrong. On the other hand when a fuel pump shits itself your stuffed.
Great video. Gives me some ideas.
It was great. A suggestion I'd have for anyone thinking about trying adventure riding. Don't over think it/over plan it, map out a rough journey and go and give it a crack, you'll have some of the best times of your life and witness some beautiful parts of the country.
never thought of changing the handlebar ? for me I felt better on the huski bar. still flat but not that low mmmm
It did cross my mind. But looking up the specs the bar was the same as the stock KTM bar which I enjoyed. I think the high bar feeling was more related to seat height. Possibyl the Gas Gas was a touch lower than other ktm models I was used to.
@@loveoffroadaus thanks for the prompt reply 👍
Hahaha this is bloody golden
Wild crash and surprisingly they both walked away laughing
Thanks, that was fun. I've done some long rides on my Dr650.
What's the best one you've done that you'd suggest for other riders?
I really enjoyed that, well edited, good music too. (just subscribed) thanks mate. Ken, Gold Coast
Thanks for watching. Hoping to get out and so more adventure riding around SEQ
Hey mate where did get that graphic kit ? Great clips well done Just got a EC 250 f 👍
Thanks for watching. That kit was custom made through Willmax graphics.
@@loveoffroadaus thanks mate
@@ildoc66 I can't find a reference number, but I'm sure if you send them a message they'll have it on file.
@@loveoffroadaus thanks
Great to see you went looking for a adventure. Not to much stress & you could take the Scenery in Stay safe Cheers
Thanks for watching. It was a great ride
Be careful of Ben Smith..
Never heard of him
Have you got an opinion on the Goldentyre Gt723R? Can’t get Michelin anywhere in Aus Cheers
I have run a GT desert tyre before ( can't remember the model number) it was pretty similar looking to a Michelin desert tyre and held up well during fast style desert riding. Don't get overly stressed about a Michelin desert tyre or a big desert tyre in general, they are a bit overkill for the average guy especially if your regular riding doesn't require a desert tyre, you may end up getting stuck with a near new expensive tyre after the race . I did 2000km of prerunning on a dunlop mx71 set up a few years ago.
These forks sound concerning - would an average trail rider notice it?
I think the issues are more noticeable if you are heavier than what they are sprung for. I think it's around 75-80kg. You'll also notice it more if your riding faster rougher style riding vs slower technical style riding.
@@loveoffroadaus Interesting. I am around that weight range with gear so I might be fine for me and my riding style.
Yeah it's definitely worth giving the fork a few hours to break in and see how you like it.
Looking at buying the 250 of these, what pre delivery did your dealer do? What did they supply you with when you purchased the bike?
Pre delivery is normally just putting the bike together and giving it a once over, they also remove alot of the European restrictions before handing it over. The bike comes with a few small extras ( manual, tool kit, some of the rego gear depending on how the dealer sells them)
Great ride, great bike! A little safety gear might save a trip to the ER though.
I have all the necessary safety gear, all of it is top of the line. The only thing is body armour which I don't run because I don't like the feeling of it and I don't believe it does much more than protect from gravel rash / scratches.
Great video. Amazing journey. FYI I believe that eungella is pronounced “youngella” by the locals
Thanks for watching, Interesting to know that. I was wondering if I pronouncing it correctly. its a very nice area.
What type Go Pro were you using mate ? Came through very clear 🙏 Also what was the first song you had on your Vlog ? Cheers mate
Thanks for watching. It was on a GOPRO 10, I think setting were 4k in Linear mode. I'll have a check tonight and get back to you on the song name.
The first song is "Last time around" by Jake Schlegel
Great Story! Thank you🙏
How did the drz go
They are great for this type of riding, handled everything we threw at them and could still ride them at a very good pace.
Watching this in a house called Ellwood, seems right.
That's pretty cool, thanks for watching
The bike looks great, and what an epic adventure to really get to know the new steed. Nice editing by the way, go the mighty DR650!👍
Thanks for watching, it was an awesome adventure and has really gotten me keen for some more adventures.
Also….bout the front end…can’t afford what you did but you heard about the WP 6500 cartridges?? Fab
Before I sold the bike I was running and open cartridge set up in the stock forks, turns them back into an open chamber design and worked a treat for trailriding and enduro. They felt as good as mine fully set up closed cartridge forks with kashima coating, while the CC's can handle a bigger hit, i found they needed to be ridden much harder ( my 90% sprint pace) to feel good. Where as the open chambers felt better the more tired i got through a big ride. I think that set up from Dave at suspension matters was better value for money than 6500 cartridges.
Hey mate your 5 episodes are really great on above all honest!! Well done Am in the market for a 250 f to ride the four days this year, think gas gas After you de restricted the muffler did it get more decibels out , you know can’t ride it if too loud in the 4 days , cheers fab
Hi, yes the molded exhaust is louder but I'd be pretty confident it would still test under the spec to race. It's quiter than an aftermarket with spark arrestor in it.
Good stuff sir, i've enjoyed some of those roads before. I think a little adventure for the first ride is the best way to test a new vehicle 👍. Cheers 4 sharing sir.
I totally agree, thanks for watching.
Great video. Greetings from Michigan, United States.
Thanks for watching!
Great video mate. Looks like a great ride with a lot of memories. Must have been hot and humid. Solid effort.
Thanks for watching, it was a great adventure and learnt lots along the way. Yep very hot, day 2 was mostly +36⁰ the whole day.
Exactly the info i was looking for. Thanks dude.
Glad I could help
Amazing video! This is definitely on the bucket list!i must go for it someday 🥰🥰
Thanks for watching. Definitely do it, it's a great part of the country and unreal riding.
