    This video is so powerful you can feel the love, anger and determination through the scream. The chanting, dancing in a circle and everyone participating reminds me of tribal dances in nigeria. The incorperation of different dances shows how diverse our community is and it shows how dancing can be a form of protesting. This brings awareness to victims of police brutality and unifys the community.

    This was beautiful! Powerful! Igniting! It was like a tribe from Africa getting together to honor it ancestors,. Almost like evoking of their spirits by saying their names. I love love the power of the drums, call and response and the tap dance. All of the beautiful faces of different ages, each one adding something special to the movement! I wish I could have been there while this was made! The enegergy for me can be felt through the screeen. Thank you all for sharing your art and making sure they are not forgotten.

    This piece of performance art was SO moving and powerful! The use of the talent and passion these dancers possess being put forth to honor the victims in this tribute is seen and felt through the screen in all their glory. I enjoyed the elements of synchronization that underscore the unity of the Black Lives Matter movement as a social movement against police brutality. Seeing multiple generations of dancers showcases how this is an issue that affects members of all ages of the Black community and how the conversation needs to be had at every level due to its importance. Also, the babies are too precious. Including the #sayhername aspect of the piece is truly imperative because so many times Black women are left behind or forgotten when considering police brutality, even though they are targeted at disproportionately higher rates due to the intersection of gender and race. The studio did an amazing job with this piece and the message it conveys.

    This is an absolutely mesmerizing showcase of black excellence using art , talent and dance expressing our hardships the song was really powerful and heavy and its one that should be recognized forever as its list the name of black victims killed by police or in violence they didn't deserve and didn't get complete justice Iv'e always had a liking for tap dancing knowing that its harder than it looks really showed the talent and effort these young kids have and its even more significant because of the message behind

    This video is incredibly moving. The tribute to those affected by police brutality, along with the performers wearing all black, adds such a powerful layer to the performance. It's a reminder of the importance of using art to address social issues. Thank you for sharing this inspiring and beautiful piece!

    I have never seen the art of dance used in such a political, social, and cultural way. I have also never seen tap dance be used in a way that made me feel the unification of a community. It was nice to see us together in all different ages perform a beautiful dance for a great cause. I am familiar with the hashtag #saytheirname for the blacklivesmatter movement that they implemented into the performance. The chanting made it enchanting and more memorable to the audience, a perfect way to pay homage to the deaths of innocent black victims.

    You can tell through their powerful choreography and expressive movements, the dancers shed light on pressing issues affecting Black communities, including police brutality and systemic racism. I think it's cool how they used a fusion of tap dance with contemporary hip-hop elements to add depth to the performance, and the resilience and strength of Black voices. They are so in sync and so precise that they convey a sense of unity and solidarity, amplifying the message of collective action and resistance. Overall, I like the performative art and deep message and meaning behind it. We need more positive and powerful statements like this.

    This is an incredibly powerful piece. The dancing is so full of passion, power, and grief. There should be no names needing to be said; and yet, year after year, the list of names continues to grow as more people fall victim to police brutality. The fact that this piece is still so relevant today speaks volumes about the steps we need to take to demand justice and accountability from those in power.

    What a powerful statement and way to honor those who have suffered from systemic racism and oppression. Sad to see how this dance tribute can still be applied to our lives 7 years later. This uplifting performance really touched me and I can feel the impact of their movement and energy!

    It’s amazing people come together and create a protest piece to speak out against police brutality. What also is amazing is how the message is being told and the diverse ages being involved in the protest. I’ve never seen a protest piece being told using tap dancing. It gets the message delivered in a very impactful way and in a way that involves many people. We see children up to adults participating in this protest to speak out against police brutality. This is how a community comes together and creates change for its community. This is how you influence others and spread awareness. This is how you achieve change.

    The amount of passion and emotion portrayed in this is absolutely amazing! I couldn't look away for even a second. This demonstrated another form of coming together as a community and the multiple generations dancing in solidarity was beautiful to see. It shows that the community is hurting but these people's names will never be forgotten. They will forever be remembered.

    THe only concern I have with this video is that this dancing, especially in the beginning, has a voodoo like vibe going on with it. I like that everyone is involved and engaged and taking part but it seems a bit ritualistic....it concerns me trying to get out a good mesage with a potential occult overtone in it.

    • @mzshakiahmc
      @mzshakiahmc Рік тому

      Nope - the model was based on support and providing a release of collective grief that didn’t have any words. There’s nothing to worship, only to assist in releasing a deep cry and perhaps make it a little harder to ignore the core issue. Nothing voodoo about it.
